2020 Grand Final
Completely relate JD . . . although my emptiness is driven by the realisation, almost every year, that we are miles away from the standard required to win premierships.

Board Changes
Yes, great point deanox. I remember coming across research, probably over 20 years ago, that seemed to indicate for-profit companies with rank and file workers on their boards out performed their peers by a substantial margin. Maybe a position or two, on a 12-month rotational basis, should be created and reserved on the MFC board for 'supporters in the stands'.

Board Changes
At the global level, the ‘board model’, as we understand it, is completely broken. Corporate governance is in a shambles no matter what country or sector we look at. Failures pervade all sectors of the media on a daily basis. In Australia, for profit, not-for-profit, government and non-government entities are mired in muck at a governance level. There are many reasons for this - far too many to canvas in this forum. The MFC has not been immune to this phenomena in the past, and is highly unlikely to be so in the future. It’s not the fault necessarily of one particular individual, or even a group of individuals. It is the fault of a mechanism that is completely out of step with the times. So, with respect to the MFC board appointees announced yesterday . . . good luck to you. You’re going to need it.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
WTF is going on with this thread? Come on 'Land this afternoon and read pages 42 and 43 to catch up with the BB news and what do I get? Sane, rational, respectful conversation. Back to Fox News After Dark for me.

Farewell Oscar McDonald
Norff would be interested in anyone even marginally capable of running out on any sort of a footy oval ATM.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
Just my opinion OD . . . Sometimes one doesn't have to dig too deep for the answers or engage in conspiracy theories . . . . . . how's this for a response? Norff are run by complete morons ATM. Checkout their Board and the holders of senior administration and coaching positions. Very little hardcore footy 'clubland' knowledge or coaching experience. The appointment of Shaw in the first place was a completely bizarre and flawed decision. Letting Scott go without any sought of plan b . . . WTF? Archer runs the show down there and hasn't a clue quite frankly. Same problem exists at Crows.

The Flag Is Coming Our Way
Comrade Khrushchev goes to a pig farm and he is photographed there. In the village newspaper office, there was a heated discussion about how to caption the photograph. “Pigs and Comrade Khrushchev”? “Comrade Khrushchev Among Pigs”? None will do. The editor finally makes a decision: “Third From Left: Comrade Khrushchev.”

Another great big Neeld era recruiting stuff up...
Everyone relax . . . we got 23 games out of James Sellar.

Jeremy Cameron
We are all very resentful that: Geelong hasn't shot both its feet off like we have in the last 10 years, Richmond, a basket case for 37 years, started getting its act together 10 years ago, and Collingwood, with three less premierships than us in 65 years, has somehow remained a power club of the comp?

2020 Brownlow Medal
The AFL . . . . . what can you say? Three awards to three players who were not the best in their respective categories.

Rhyce Shaw takes extended break
I suspect our bloke does . . . that's why we are where we are!
-
Adam Treloar
As we are all going to be based in QLD for the next 2-3 years, he can come to us and still be at a QLD based club.

Rhyce Shaw takes extended break
Pending Tammy's approval . . . all set up for Roosy. 1. Can ride in with no blood on his hands to save the joint from itself (White Knight syndrome). 2. AFL now know they officially have a basket case on their hands and will bank roll a $1.5-2m a year contract. 3. He can’t loose (a finish higher than 18th in 2021 will be seen as a huge win for the club) as the whole industry knows that the joint is f#$&^d and only an elder statesmen of Roos’ standing can reset the club’s compass. 4. He and Blakey have a strong long term relationship . . . Roos will see him as the perfect foil. 5. Roos might be a Buddhist, but we all like a topped up superannuation account. 7. The deal may well involve Voss . . . a good footy mind who’ll probably do most of the coaching grunt work during the week. 8. The deal many also involve keeping Brown. 9. Fits Roos’ coach as contracted consultant mentality (all care an no responsibility). 10. Potentially sees reputational upside for himself . . . imagine if he gets them into a final series?

Like everyone else . . . I love Nev to death. Going to the Filth is the ultimate in clubmenship, loyalty and sacrifice. I love you even more now.

TMac on the Trade Table?
You make a good point though Bro . . . Dawes was a big time bust (as was virtually everything in this era at the Deez) as was Johnny Dellamata and Phil Carmen. We somewhat got them back though . . . happy to have off-loaded Dunn to them.

TMac on the Trade Table?
Didn't Peter Moore win a Brownlow with us? Henry Coles went around alright.

TMac on the Trade Table?
Whatever deal is done, you can bet that we'll be paying at least part of his salary for the next two years.
