  1. Those that cannot identify the sheer class and pedigree of Watts have been noted in my fact file. I doubt I'll ever take anything said by these clueless footy fans again. Not that it matters. As those that are charged with identifying the very best talent aren't influenced by the dim witted. Watts is as an exciting a prospect as I've seen in a long while.
  2. Firstly, you wouldn't. Secondly, we won't expect him to.
  3. Yes. I've now seen him live twice. I always said that I'd reserve final judgment until I'd seen him play. Make sense ?
  4. My top 5: 1. Watts 2. Hartlett 3. Rich 4. Hurley 5. Naitanui
  5. I'm the opposite to you. I originally wanted Naitanui, but now having seen him live twice I'm firmly in the Watts camp. Watts will become the best key forward in the game, imo. There's a lot to like about Naita, but he's too raw for number 1 and lacks some footy nous. Neitz is one of our greats, but he didn't have the talent of Watts. At 194cms he a beautiful mover, great when the ball hits the deck, a fantastic mark and very good kick. Now he may not end up as good as Neitz, but he's got more natural talent. For me it's become a pretty easy decision.
  6. I voted Naitanui before I'd seen him play. I'd change to Watts if I could.
  7. The APS is a pretty strong brand of junior footy and he also plays with the Sandy Dragons. What other "organisations" do you prefer ?
  8. They're not Brothers, but even if they were, have you heard of Jim and Brian Stynes, Stephen and David Kernahan, Todd and Jay Viney, Stan and Mark Alves, Robert and Tom Flower, Darren and Damien Gaspar, and many many more... In fact, how many AFL players have Brothers, or do you think they're all only children ?
  9. He played at Casey on Saturday and earlier at the G against Vic Country.
  10. Either way you look at it he's far from "way ahead" of Wonaeamirri. And it's easier playing in a successful team than one struggling. http://finalsiren.com/PlayerCompare.asp?Se...electedPlayers= http://www.pro-stats.com.au/psw/web/compar...mp;pid2=2008080
  11. Hannebery will no doubt be a good player, but he's been very quiet during the Carnival. I went to the G a few weeks back and yesterday to Casey Fields in anticipation of watching him play as I went to school with his Dad and he's mates with my nephew. Unfortunately, he hardly fired a shot in both matches. The pedigree is there and he dominates at school footy, so I'm sure he'll take the next step.
  12. Watts was quiet but did some nice things. He only played 3 quarters and was often ignored by his teammates, but he's the one I want. He moves beautifully, has great skills, is good on the ground, and is a lovely height at 194cms. I'd like to see a bit of mongrel but I don't think he has any, which would be my only query. Even though he didn't take any of his trademark grabs I saw enough class to see how good he could become.
  13. Well now I know we won't win another game !
  14. Two things. Sylvia isn't in Thompson's league as a footballer and Eboi doesn't care if Melb let Sylvia go because he's an Essendon supporter.
  15. No [censored]. Where you been ?
  16. Geez, you're easily pleased. Colin is Colin, a handy player that will forever be remembered as a top 3 pick, but the facts are he should just be judged as a handy player on our list who may develop into a good player. Unfortunately his draft pick no. is always top of mind. I'd keep him because he's good enough to become a good forward who's difficult to match up on. He's not a 'Gun' and never will be, but others need to move on from his draft pick no.
  17. Of course it's all that matters you pickle. And of course one enjoys the journey and days like today. But if it's not the club's sole aim you end up with a club like Freo and not a proud club that's won 12 flags. If you were at the 150 dinner you'd understand the notion of being proud about the Club's history. Success breeds success, and today was a small, but important part of the journey.
  18. Jim Plunkett's group Leading Teams was hired last year.
  19. I've looked at Rich's 9 WAFL matches this year and noted he's yet to reach 20 possessions. Yesterday he had 6 kicks and 5 handballs. Addam Maric kicked 5 goals for Sandy a few weeks back but just made it into the best players for that day. Kicking a few goals doesn't always mean much. And to answer your question, one was a Freo supporter and the other an Eagles fan. Like Jarka, I don't buy the tanking thing, although some are born to look for a conspiracy theory anywhere. What kid trying to impress the footy world and garner some respect amongst his teammates wants to play crap footy ?
  20. And this from someone at the game: "On to the man - NickNat - well today was very interesting in that he wasn't played in the ruck until the last quarter. Seemed more of an onball role early and even in defence a bit (where he actually wasn't too bad, which did surprise me). He covers a lot of ground and his skills were actually very good today, given the inclement weather and that bitterly cold wind. Someone commented his marking wasn't great and it wasn't today, but I wouldn't be too concerned because I've seen him mark a lot better than that at other times. His clearances and work rate are exceptional for a 6'6" man." Some views on Rich from yesterday: "Rich was shithouse. Is either carrying an upper thigh injury, or something. Is incredibly slow. I'm not convinced he will have the impact at AFL level people are thinking. He can't keep up at WAFL level, let alone with another 5-10kg's. No wonder he can't shake a tag. Can't win his own ball to save his skin either." And another; "On Rich, I was quite disappointed in his game in the U18s at Subi a few weeks back and worry that he may not quite be the player he is being talked up to be - he is playing in an exceptional team at Subiaco, and we've all seen what can happen to players when they go from being surrounded by very, very good players to being surrounded by less than great players. I hope I'm wrong (and more than likely will be) but I'm just not convinced he is going to be as good as we'd like."
  21. It's amazing how supporters see things differently. I hope Carroll never plays for Melbourne again.
