  1. My guess is we'll kick more goals, but no-one will kick a ton. Garlett 24 Hogan 20 Dawes 19 Howe 17 Tyson & Kent 15 Watts & Vince 13 Peder & Bail 10 One or two of Petracca, JKH, Fitzy or someone kicking 10 to 14 Several almost reaching 10, [Jones, Gawn &?]
  2. Jones - Captain ..then it gets thin for a year or 2. Dunn or Dawes VC, Grimes, Cross, Vince, Let the young guys and the new guys wait a bit. Grimes just stepped down from captn. so leave him in leadership next year.
  3. Breaking the Etihad hoodoo would set us up for winning more games there, so it wouldn't be just a one-off kinda win, it'd signal a turning of the corner. I guess it's impossible to do, but I think if we had a mid-week practice session at Etihad before a weekend game there, we'd win that game.
  4. .err, what does that mean?
  5. I agree with the posters who think rucks are important. Thank god Jamar was decent this year. I'd wanted to keep Martin who would have been better, so I'm hoping Max or Spencer come on this year (ditto Fitzy). Peder surprised this year, but I doubt he'll improve.
  6. Thanks gs12! How did you do that? Do you really remember them all? ..or is there a list of players & their numbers somewhere online?
  7. Loved it. Thanks Gonzo! Did notice how I've forgotten what numbers many players wore in the Melbourne era though. I recall Dixon 9, Adams 6, Big Bob 16, Tassie Bob , Hassa 29, running out already
  8. Oh does he have something specific he really wants to do? I must have read the article so quickly I missed that. I hope he does have, and good luck to him with it.
  9. Sometimes it's been further out than that Choke. I've seen people who believe that if you enjoy something you shouldn't be paid to do it at all. Being grateful Dom showed the character to quit at the best time for us, it probably wasn't the best time for me to have posted the question of how important passion for a job is Vs good pay Vs hard work, but I did. I always chose what I had more passion for, but thought most people went more for the money(?) so was curious Dom gave up something most would think of as a fun, good paying, although very hard working job. I suspect some would have hung around for the cheque, but I'm glad he didn't and wish him well.
  10. I just read todays AFL article where Dom says he didn't have the passion to play in the AFL any more and just wants to find something he's very passionate about. It may well be the right decision for Dom, but made me wonder how much he, or other young people, think about the concept of just having a good paying job! What % of workers are "very passionate" about their jobs? Personally I've been lucky that way, plus gave up several great jobs, so I'm being, "do as I say, not as I did," here. But looking objectively (if he left for that reason) doesn't it seem a bit luxurious for Dom to give up a decent paying job to be unemployed wondering what to do?
  11. guessing- All teams appear better each pre season. So I'm absolutely "aiming for 13 wins and 8th," ….but who the hell will we beat! Guessing a bottom bunch of Saints, dogs, blues, Dees and maybe someone else. I predicted 17th before last season and will say 17th this year too, but that may be very close to 15th. If a few guys come on, we could make 11th.
  12. I prefer we keep Jeremy Howe! High marking's about the most spectacular sight in our game, Howe's about the best high mark in the history of the sport; sport is a division of the Entertainment Industry . His crowd drawing adds to his good playing value.
  13. I agree with you, he's sure no tough guy. I'm curious what others think about him supposedly providing no legitimate leads though: Living in Los Angeles I mostly watch on tv, but in the live games I've seen, Watts provided so many legitimate leads to space, yet was ignored. With his great uncontested marking, speed and disposal, players should be instructed to honor his leads to space more. Just because he's weaker when it comes down to the biff, is no reason not to use him when he's out on his own. I suspect he'd be great for Hawthorn amongst their pinpoint passing, or for us if we could develop those skills.
  14. A faithful clubman, loved by all and a poet of the MCG turf.
  15. What channel is Roos on & when please? Sorry I'm just visiting Australia
  16. Laughed at your post, as usual Biffen. .was about to hit "like," then realized some would take it the wrong way.
  17. You're right, I've not met him Bing. And it's just my opinion, so no big deal. I've read a lot of things Lumumba wrote, noticed what he's done and what he's been quoted saying. I worked and hung out a lot in the US for 12 - 13 years with someone who seemed very similar and was extremely charming (when getting what he wanted). We'd say nice things publicly about him too. Not saying Dane Swan wasn't right tho. Your part I highlighted is exactly what he, or I'm guessing HL'd want us to think was going on when he used PC as an excuse for oppressive verbal attacks on people (I just meant verbal of course, should have said "criticism") putting them down while aggrandizing himself. Complaining to the club could be similar. Why do you think HL thought he would be a more appropriate person to meet the Dali Lama than any of millions of others? Doesn't it seem he thinks he's better than other people? Anyhow I'll trust Roos's judgement.
  18. I asolutely agree with your post Praha, ..except the highlighted sentence which shows you didn't fully understand my post. And that's what makes the subject most delicate to see through. I've been around those activist causes a lot. Supported much of it. I didn't criticize him for calling people out who aren't like that at all. Not at all. I'm saying he seems to have used good causes as an excuse to further his own selfish wants (which also isn't team spirited). It's not the biggest deal in the world, but when that happens in the PC world it's a shame.
  19. For those defending Lumumba because he attacks people being non PC. I worked in the US with someone similar. When someone' does something not PC, he uses that as an excuse to really give them a talking down, really tear them apart publicly. He enjoys being superior, oppressing, psychologically bullying the other, and if someone complains he says they're defending the non PC act he's ostensibly riling against, so anyone against him must be guilty of the heinous non PC thing he's pretending his bullying session is all about. Hope you understood that. Also has to be the center of attention. Lumumba seems the same. It's a selfish, non team spirited mindset to be avoided.
  20. Hey I got important Sh!t to do here buddy! Gotta have a Tommy tank & err ..... Actually ashamed to admit, have an urgent, stressful business letter to write and getting distracted with this ........
  21. The last score posted here was by BJ Dee 30 minutes ago! Anyone else getting impatient for an update, or is it just me? Btw that was: Top 3 Leaderboard after Round 17 Lynden Dunn 241 Nathan Jones 231 Bernie Vince 218 31 minutes ago
  22. I'm sure Rolf Harris is the butt of their joke. They're laughing at him, not glorifying him, and it's the typical self depreciating humor move of dressing up as some seriously dastardly figure and acting like an idiot. No big deal.
  23. Obviously we just need to wear our clash jumper every game next year and we'll play finals!
