Does it amaze anybody else on here that a thread intended to discuss our beloved team withers and dies after two days whilst a thread about some scummy drug cheats can stretch on for 150 pages? What is the fascination with this matter. It has nothing to do with us and just seems to cater for those vicarious vultures waiting to dance on the corpse of another club. How come nobody wants to talk up our prospects and shine a light on all of the positive stuff that's happening at the moment? I dunno.......

Good work my friend. This forum needs more positivity and I'm certain about that. If we can't be positive at this point, when can we. I can only see goof things ahead over the next few years. We are on our way. Thanks PJ, thanks Paul Roos and thanks to the recruiting folk who went out and got us a half-decent midfield. Yeah, there'll be some pain ahead at times but I'm confident we've seen the last of the 100 point debacles that have hurt so much in recent years. From here it's going to be some gradual improvement as we continue developing our list and Roos consolidates the game plan, but I'm sure we will be watching finals next year positive optimism for me.

That's the most positive thing I've heard you say in a long time OD. I'm still tipping 2015, but for you to be looking at 2016 makes my heart skip a beat. I reckon I'm getting into your head. Go Old Dee!

You make sense. Strange thing here sometimes. Not forgetting that the best 22 are not always the best selection when it comes to playing some opposition teams. Sometimes you need to draw on quite specific skills and characteristics to achieve a win. This is where depth and competition for spots is crucial.

The question is not for us to answer. We need to have faith in Mr Roos to do his job. I guess what I'm saying is, that as a supporter, I am happy to support the players who take the field each week and to not criticise what I don't understand. That's not to say I won't criticise acts of cowardice or perceived lack of effort. I think we spend too much time on here speculating about players such as Pederson. He's clearly having a go and playing to instruction to the best of his ability. That's good enough for me. I'm just tired of the knockers who choose to berate players without understanding what they've been instructed to do. Let's stick to talking about what we know rather than what we are guessing at.

It seems pretty clear that his role was not to take marks and get touches. It was to take the opposition defenders out of the 50 meter arc to make way for the small forwards to work. My guess is that this was a clear instruction and one that the midfield and half-backs understood. They simply weren't looking for Pederson as a target. Seemed to work pretty well from what I saw. Why do you not understand the idea of playing a specific role as asked for by the coach? We need to judge players according to whether they have done the job required of them.
