I think we're all forgetting what a nice trip to the Gold Coast will do for the boys' suntans. Let's focus on what's important at this time of year.

I'm still getting over the fact that I received a reminder from the MFC during that last quarter that my automatic debit would be taken out this week. Salt, wounds, friction?

It's a bit like kickings skills - you have to learn them properly when you're young or you're screwed for all time.

I'm usually optimistic, but there's little to take away from that performance. On that showing we'd be struggling to win a game in the VAFA, let alone the VFL. It's going to be a long season unless something changes drastically in the next few weeks. It's probably safe to book some holidays for September.

Every time I see him take off along that wing, I see Robbie Flower. The resemblance is astonishing.

Thanks OD. I'm still around, but since I retired, I've found more productive things to do than sitting at the keyboard. Says a lot about my commitment to my job! What's AO?

Emailed the club today to find out training dates, but alas, the office is closed until Jan 18. The club seems unconcerned about fans wanting to support our team at training. The only message on the website is from last year advising that all training would be at Casey due to works at Gosch's Paddock. I'm keen to take my grandkids to a session before they go back to school.

I would hate to be a Hawthorn player today. This is the beginning of our run to the premiership. Today it all comes together Kossie 5, Trac 4, Oliver 42 possessions and 2 goals, Max 320 possessions and 6 goals! Heaven help the Hawks. GO DEES!

A big win tomorrow suddenly seems more important than ever after the favour the cats have done us. If Freo do their bit against the lions we'll know the big fella is smiling down on us. Blessed be the Red and blue, for they have it all in front of them.

Some players will die for their club - Jack Viney would gladly kill for it.

Bless you all. My user name was foisted on me by Old Dee, if I remember correctly. I think I've taken a different direction to Old Dee's perception that I was preaching like Neale Daniher, but that's because it would be sacriligious to try and imitate the great man.

Oh ye of little faith, have trust in the word of the coach, for blessed are they who believe even in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary, for they will be rewarded with another premiership. Excited to see us put another team of pretenders to the sword. Had a quick word to the big fella this morning and he tells me it's "...in the bag!"

Now that I've managed to stop getting teary every time I watch the replays of that second half, I think I'm rational enough to post something. What an amazingly emotional night watching our team demolish the dogs. I can now get on with my life without mfcss plaguing my footy experience. I'm officially free of this insidious syndrome. The world will be a better place and the shadows of 57 years will no longer darken my days. Sounds dramatic, but that's how significant this victory is to me. GO DEES!

I don't understand this eery feeling of calmness. Apart from the odd flash of MFCSS inspired doubt, I'm not at all nervous. Maybe things will change as the day progresses, but right now, I think I finally trust our team. Go DEES!

Had this conversation with my son this morning. He reminded me that, apart from being the better team, we have Jack. Can't wait to see Jack do his thing. Bulldogs will be looking over their shoulders and second guessing all afternoon. Jack aint gonna wanna lose this one. The Norm Smith will look good around his neck.
