  1. I have no clue about the total riddle, but a couple of thoughts Tick tock sounds like swapping of picks. Electric could indicate something to do with 'Watts' ... Given that has something to do with black mice, it could mean something is on the cards as a trade with Adelaide with Watts and a swap of some picks... but just guessing. Head hurts too much, will think about the second bit afterwards!
  2. This comment I am not sure about Moonshadown, more so that you seem to infer we can't attract players with those picks, Sure that is more to do with clubs not prepared to trade the players we want, or inversely the players we are bundling with our picks are not that attractive. The players could/should find us an attractive 'alternative', and more importantly I think the player managers know that we are a viable option in Melbourne again.
  3. Sydney apparently knew about it a couple of weeks back, It's only that the media have gotten wind of it in now DC, doesn't make sense to me either... assume it has something to do with phasing it out, and they don't want any players coming in and making use of it, and wanting them to be put onto the rent allowance scheme that is replacing it. As the existing players and their contracts expire or are renewed they are transitioned across as well.
  4. Sounds like you are telling me we are getting two dimes!
  5. So it should be... they have a bit to prove in terms of being a part of the club going forward. I'd say the same thing about Watts, Grimes and Howe. Still got a hunch that we will do something late with one of the picks.
  6. This is quite normal that nothing happens, at least it used to be the case a couple of years back.... The perplexing part is that so many big name players are requesting trades, if this keeps up no one will give a stuff about Danger coming to us next week might not even get picked up on the trade tracker!
  7. Why wouldnt the dogs try and make the most of it and say Griffen and 6 for Boyd or Patton and pick 4, after all they have the big power forwards that the dogs desperately need. See how much the GWS want him.
  8. What makes this statement even more interesting (and I agree with your sentiment) is that we have lost Frawley and Clark, and even with them leaving I don't think the media has attacked us AS a basket-case not being able to hold it's players... These guys have left for whatever reason floats their boat, but there is still the underlying feeling that the footy dept has everything under control and has a plan for the club that it is sticking to.
  9. Sorry, who was the first captain? Ward was touted as a future captain... but not actually one.
  10. It just says a third round pick, it could as Lamashtu suggests be another one that we acquire from another club. Still amusing how 'definite' these rumours are!
  11. ... are you talking the sort of patience that means we might land one of these players as an assistant coach? or actually as a player?
  12. .... we have some blazers lying around somewhere don't we?
  13. Can you imagine what purple will have to say about this... I can see him rolling out the scattergun comment all over again! Which makes it all the sweeter when it blows up in his face
  14. If Carlton wanted Garlett and Robinson to have any sort of currency, then they wouldn't have told the pair and the footy media that they are going to be traded before the season even ended. Blease for Garlett is not a stupid proposition, Garlett has had 3-4 seasons where he has had a good output as a forward, but his off field issues make him a risk for any club to take on. Blease is still young enough and I think can make it at AFL level, whether he can respond under Mick is another question.
  15. You can have your theory for the rest of today Regardless of what happens with Danger, the MFC looks like it will be a key trading figure this trade week, especially if we land 3 for our compo pick, which should make for some interesting rumours and trades coming up. Viney and Taylor will be busy boys I reckon!
  16. Of course Noble is going to say this.... .... whilst we still have not had pick 3 confirmed for Frawley.
  17. I think we all want him to earn $1 more than entitles us Compo Band 1. Don't want him earning too much
  18. I think you'll find that Roos and Watts get on pretty well TBH, Howe also arguably has had his most consistent season since coming to the dees, not flashy, but more consistent output since going back. It's probably also looking at Watts comments to the MFC site after the season finished, pretty certain he loves having Roos as coach. Not saying these guys both are not tradeable, but I think the comment linking the spray to wanting to trade them is a bit far.
  19. I suspect that if there is a clause for a 5th year based upon performance criteria, it would have to be factored into the total contract amount. Doesn't player age have something to do with it as well?
  20. Once the compensation is known for Frawley leaving I suspect that things will be come pretty clear for either possible outcome in terms of Adelaide and Dangerfield. Despite Collingwood's interest, the only club in 2014 in Melbourne that can entertain both the needs of AFC and Dangerfield (for contract) is the MFC. Still think it's unlikely that we will secure him, but I am glad that it seems that we are at least having a crack, and won't die wondering!
  21. I think the Hawks can win next year again, Lake Mitchell and Hodge are in the last couple of years of their careers, but I don't see the same drop off in quality that I see at Geelong with the Hawks list. But even still I can't see the Hawks missing finals in the next 4-5 years. Is that based on anything other than the numpties commenting on whether we 'deserve it' or not?
  22. Problem is these hacks are speculating because the AFL doesn't disclose the formula. No point complaining about Frawley, the compensation is based on what the Hawks are willing to pay him, and thats a hefty contract. These people need to stop comparing players directly and saying he is worth this or that... I still think the compensation should also be factoring in what the club that the player is leaving from is prepared to pay to keep the player.... I think that almost says more about the worth of the player than the contract offered by the new club!
  23. I saw an AFL article this morning that said MFC were after Geelong second and third round picks for Clark. We'd then attempt to ontrade the 2nd round pick to the Pies for Lumumba, although the Pies want our second round pick...
  24. Are you sure it says we have to draft kids? I thought we had to turn the list over by 3. No one is saying the list won't get changed by 3, but that could be Harry O, Frost and Jetta coming onto the primary list. It's obviously going to be more, and some of our picks will come from the draft, but it's not a requirement as such, at least to my knowledge.
  25. Who here honestly believes that the next three AFL flags won't come from clubs inside the current top 6 teams. The only 'interesting' thing in the comp at the moment, and keeping me interested is seeing how quickly Port turned things around, and hoping that Roos can do a similar thing.
