Letter from the CEO Post Draft
Yeah I do believe he was asked to play multiple roles and didn't like it. And as if he would storm out? yeah he would, he's one of the least mature players on the list... he chucked the sads because of the meeting. I am not saying that he wasn't told that if he doesn't think he can do it then find another team and they would facilitate a trade. Maybe it was a test to see how committed he was, and he probably failed it by how he reacted and the club decided to part ways. Was he hurt? probably... Did he expect the meeting to turn out that way, probably not... But name me another player in the AFL that would respond like Oliver did after that meeting? If you're going to try and discredit my post, which was clearly just an opinion, perhaps don't use words like 'reportedly'. Not sounding any more credible!!

Welcome to Demonland: Steven King
Agree, and he will attract a good defender, play a role without a lot of fuss, but allow the others around him to do their job. I think having him and Melk up there will make Fritsch & Roo's task easier. The more interesting question is where King see's Petty's role? Defence or forward.

Welcome to Demonland: Picks 7 & 8
I get that the picks get pushed back, but the pool of the players that clubs can chose from isn't diluted any further by being pushed back. i.e we know clubs are going to bid on Dan Annables early and Brisbane will 100% match any bid... he gets slotted in, and players like Robey are still on the table with the next pick if he's the next player clubs want... is it really about the picks being pushed back, or is it about the players being taken off the table?

Letter from the CEO Post Draft
New coach wanted him to be able to play multiple roles, I think Clarrie spat the dummy when he heard that, so lets not kid ourselves that he also has not contributed to this as well.

Letter from the CEO Post Draft
This is not incorrect, however these two players also must shoulder a bit of the responsibility too for why we didn't achieve sustained success either. We get the premiership, they got very lucrative long term deals (deservedly so) but I wouldnt' say that they went on with their careers from that point. Traccs kicking was always iffy, Clayton with his difficulties set his career back 2 years, and had to rebuild again, and both had off field distractions, and I wish them well, they were mighty for our club, but not without flaws either. Note: Not saying the club handled things fantastically thru that period either.

Farewell Clayton Oliver
yeah... Damo is slagging us off, but he claims that the bulldogs did a good job in trading Ugle-Hagan to GC for pick 70 or whatever. Number 1 pick gone for nothing. But good deal apparently.

Farewell Clayton Oliver
it's boats for him I think!

Farewell Clayton Oliver
Not sure why, but I'm comfortable with this. Perhaps its because the net value on what we've done I don't think is bad across all our trades in and out. But in particular for this, I am fairly certain that the pick is based on the amount of salary, and I simply believe I don't believe the [censored] in the media that we'd still be paying 700k for another 4-5 seasons for Clarry for a 3rd round pick, it will be less than this. Also lets be honest, the MFC did a lot of things to try and make this work for Clarry in the last couple of years. It just didn't work, and both parties made the call to part. If we take Lamb at his word, King met with Clarry and said you need to be flexible in the roles you play going forward and he wasn't prepared to do that,... that just shows he still doesn't get it. We're getting 3 1st round picks for Petracca. Thats better than expected, even though there are a bunch back and forth in the other rounds. Happy with Mihocek, Heath as a young ruck for Gawn, Steele helps in the midfield, CKJ off the half back line. I'll back the club, support the new players. We've managed to get 8 1st round picks in the last 4 years apparently. (dunno if that includes the future 1st from GC) Our list management team hasn't done badly.

Cats wobbles
Yeah I dunno.... making 15 of the last 22 prelim finals doesn't sound like a bad thing to me! Maybe begrudgingly I'd call them a bloody good club, and I'm happy as an opposition supporter to have them to hate on, but their supporters have success that the rest of us would love to see!

"I hope this doesn't sound like sour grapes" - Chris Scott
If coaches don't like the medical sub, thats fine, lets go back to 4 interchange players.... I'm sick of the creep upwards in this space. As others have said, cap the number of interchanges, slow it down. In 4-5 years time.... watch how some coach starts complaining that having 5 on the bench and getting an injury or a concussion is unfair and that they need a sub because they are only down to 4 fit players and the rotations are unfair , wah wah wah 😭. 4 on the bench and either cap at 60 interchanges, or something more radical like each player is only allowed to be subbed off the ground 4 or 5 times per game. It will stop the stupid run off the ground after kicking a goal etc... players will fatigue and it's more about skill.

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
Great ideas, whilst we're at it, we probably should change our club colors, our logo, relocate to another country and play a different sport! Sorry, but you are kidding if you think everyone will get thrown out alongside the coach. Basically cos -> https://www.sen.com.au/news/2024/12/04/why-the-man-who-conducted-melbourne-review-has-a-very-different-perception That review has been done at the end of last season, the MFC isn't doing another one, and I'm pretty sure Darren Shand presented to the board at the same one Goody did.

GAMEDAY: Rd 21 vs West Coast
If the players come out and deliver 4 quarters and a 60-70 point win, will that also be telling? i.e he hasn't lost the players, and that they were all embarrassed last week and decided to make amends? Cos I suspect the media will make the MFC the whipping boys out of this game regardless of the outcome, We lose and Goodwin's fate could be sealed, We win < 30pts and it's a poor effort against a poor team Win by a big margin and it will still be about how we choked last weekend. Still contend that the first 3Q of last week were some of the better quarters we have played this season, all undone by 25 minutes of madness though :(

PREGAME: Rd 21 vs West Coast
Off Topic, but I'll counter that with the fact that it is evident that the money that they are throwing at it feels like it is starting to show (in my view) I was watching the preseason game against the hawks, and remember thinking that the skills of the women are getting significantly better. Comparing the product to 3 or 4 years ago.... it's no comparison. I am not disagreeing that the expansion might have happened pretty fast and could have been a little slower. Why should it annoy you that the AFL are throwing money at it? The product will not get good without funding it. There is a similar argument here in Tas that the new team (if we get it up) should just play out of UTAS Stadium or Blundstone oval.... cos they are there and are 'good enough', but it's not setting the team up for success if you don't give it the best chance TO succeed. On topic: I thought the first 3 quarters were some of the better quarters we've played all year, sadly I think the players agreed and turned off too fast. I'll be watching, I suspect that they will play well again for 4 full quarters, but unfortunately it is kinda meaningless, other than pride, and hopefully bringing some experience to some players coming thru.

May to Tribunal
a lot of clubs use him, and he's got a lot of people off .... just not MFC players :(
-
May to Tribunal
ahhh, but each of the nine are different! so can't be repeating himself. Plus not one of the nine is about the vibe or mabo, so he's not quoting Danny Denuto!

KOZZY A DEMON FOR LIFE!!!
Would love to see Kozzi and the MFC announce this by reporting it thru Fremantle social media and txting the Freo players that he's staying ;)

Forward line fix?
IMO We didn't get anything going our way (or take the simple opportunities) that allowed us to get momentum flowing. Kozzie's goal, the free that Jiath got when one of our players went for the mark, and we got done for a tunnel or push I think, but the replay showed no contact on him except his leg connecting with someones head and him tumbling.... We should have been 3-5 goals up at 3/4 time, but we were wasteful and the umps missed some clear decisions. Not saying that would have changed the way the final quarter played out btw, but not taking opportunities as they come hurt us badly.

Forward line fix?
Thats really incredibly arrogant. "This is my statement, but don't dare comment on it, because I won't listen to anyone and my fingers are in my ears." Perhaps consider whether it's best to post on forums buddy! If you aren't going to listen or put your words out there for scrutiny, why post in the first place? For what it's worth and keeping to the conversation, I think Van Rooyen will be ok, he might not be an A grade player. He just seems completely off with timing, and his hands are currently concrete. His kicking isn't terrible, and he's competitive in the ruck. Improvement is not always linear. As a comparison, I don't think Jye Amiss is progressing anywhere near as well as he looked like he would be last year either. Happy to hear your thoughts ? 😁

GAMEDAY: Rd 09 vs Hawthorn
Oh, but the AFL will come out and say "but what about all the decisions we GOT right!" 🙄
-
GAMEDAY: Rd 09 vs Hawthorn
Just given up watching the game, I can't believe how decisions like the Pickett trip, and the Jiath free when he leap and basically kicked someone in the head as the only contact.... just not worth the pain. Fair that there was/is terrible kicking for goal too, but we had this game and the umps and terrible kicking of simple set shots at goal cost us our 4th win of the season.

PREGAME: Rd 03 vs Gold Coast
Aiden Johnson in for Turner (named at CHF), May in for McDonald (at FB). Melk likely the replacement for Spargo. TMac and Petty don't need to be anywhere near the forward line do they? The question is more whether Billings or TMac as the sub. Can't see Langford or Chandler being the sub.

Melbourne Football Club - The CEO
I thought Graeme Wright was at Carlton? or is he just getting the gig handed over at the end of the year from Cook?

ACL surgery for Andy Moniz-Wakefield
Article says that he hurt his ACL, PCL and MCL. Was the ACL the only rupture? or were all three done? Thats horrible luck for him, wish him the best. But I would prefer to wish that the AFL looks at addressing the hip drop tackles. NRL and NFL have banned it, if it's not a knee, it's an ankle or syndesmosis. That said, if you take it out of the game there are not a lot of ways for players to be bought to ground...
