  1. I think I mentioned this elsewhere, and sure it might be a slightly left field option here: Maybe the club should look at getting a coach in like Michael O'Loughlin who I understand is very highly regarded at the academy/centre of excellence, and has coached one of the underage international rules teams I think). Not only could I see him being capable of being a forwards coach (something I personally feel he has a better understanding of than Josh Mahoney) but he would also be there as a mentor for our indigenous players in getting the most out of what they have. Please note I am not saying get an indigenous coach for our indigenous players, thats too simplistic a view to take, however take a serious look at Micky and if he is a capable the benefits could be two-fold.
  2. What is possible is that the Coaching team that was there when the Hawks won their premiership a few years back decided to get together for a meal. I love optimism, but seriously
  3. They should throw everything at Malthouse, Clarkson and Roos. Unlikely to dislodge them where they sit currently, but that doesn't mean you don't try your ar$e off. (We did enough "not trying" on the weekend.) After that, I like the look of Choco Williams, and Laidley. Williams is basically the senior coach for GWS at the moment, Sheedy is doing SFA there from all reports. I guess then you lower your sighted (in terms of experience and price) and consider some of the senior assistants elsewhere, Hinkley, Neeld, Sanderson, Gavin Brown.... Viney is probably someone that you would consider in this group too... Definately not keen on Eade. Can't put my foot on why, but I don't rate his sides as being hard, and uncompromising. One other point here is that whilst we are talking the Senior appointment, I want to see the MFC work equally as hard in securing the best quality assistant coaches as well?, why wouldn't we try to snag a couple of those mentioned above as assistants if we can?. Bailey took the fall for the players AND the remaining coaching panel should be feeling very insecure in their roles. Just for something different to the norm, I would actually be interested to see the MFC sound out Michael O'Loughlin be sounded out for a coaching role (not necessarily senior coach, maybe fwd coach) but I rated him as a player, and with us having a sizeable number of indigenous players on our list, it could be a shrewd move.
  4. It's interesting that when people say that Garry needs to make a stand, people still assume that the only way that he can do that is as coach. He has stated constantly that he doesn't want to coach, but I do believe the time has come for him to stop being a background power broker and to take on an official role with the club in some form. Personally I think the role that he could take on would be something like Director of Football, it's the same role as Dunstall @ the Hawks,.... Jimmy currently is doing this, as I don't think we have many "football" people on our board currently. If Garry took it on it would allow Jimmy to focus on his health again, and the presidency. It shouldn't negatively impact Garry's Media commitments, either.
  5. I read it as being 2 weeks (225ish pts), reduced by 25% for 5 yrs good behaviour (168ish pts) and further reduced by 25% with an early plea (125ish pts) So.... they can contest the charge and it will be still only be 1 week if they lose.
