  1. 60k as of 45 min ago. I’m hearing that the jumper is a foundation jumper, so those who don’t like the designs ,it might change.
  2. Could be mainly yellow with red and green, or white with the other 3 colors, thinking of the Jackjumpers, and thats how they have gone. I agree the green would clash with MFC, Carlton and possibly a few others
  3. yep, they haven't announced them but not sure how many teams the green will clash with, it's more a dark and light strip I suspect.
  4. Keep trolling, you might get someone who actually finds you amusing.
  5. Gonna let that slide and the first shot at a rivalry with a new team ;) Did you honestly think that the jumper would be anything different? I just signed up as a foundation member for the 6 members of my family. The order number was approximately #13700 I think. Most of the people on the AFL facebook site that supports the team and stadium are buying between 2-4 memberships. Its possible that there are 25k-30k foundation members signed up for this team inside of 35 minutes. Sure it's not a full membership for games etc, but if it says anything about a team and stadium and interest in a Tasmanian team. Edit: as of 8pm, the foundation member order numbers are over 19k. Given each have multiple memberships, there is a chance of 40k - 50k members signing up tonight.
  6. Yep 100%!! Tassie spends more than 7.25 million a DAY on health, a full 1/3 of the state budget is allocated to health. Putting 375Million (over the next 3-4 years) will not make a difference to health services or education services. The systems themselves are broken, not the amounts put into it.
  7. A lot of people do want the stadium too. It's not a majority that don't, it's a loud minority that always squeal the loudest. It needs a stadium, but it's a political football (bad pun) and the road ahead won't be smooth.
  8. What a ray of sunshine you are! Who ever said we were thinking of Taylor Swift type acts? but Tas wasn't looking at those types of acts anyway, That said anything that could go to Rod Laver Arena 15k or AAMI stadium 30k would be possible. Queens came here to play at MonaFoma, it's supposed to be an exclusive for MONA. We can and have attracted acts like Foo Fighters, Chilli peppers etc. I'm sure if a suitable venue is available, Tas will be able to get acts to come here, and we might even get mainland people coming for those acts... but that could be delusional too I guess. I have to say there are a lot of people on the mainland who seem to actually like thinking that Tasmania can't stand on it's own two feet, can't support a team, can't build a stadium. It's almost like you prefer to look down on people to make you feel better about yourselves, it's a sad way to live. I thought the NIMBY's all lived in Tasmania, but it feels like mainlanders see Tassie as it's backyard and would prefer it to remain a national park, power the mainland with our hydroelectric power and feed you salmon.
  9. I honestly don't know, but that is what it's been costed at. 765 Mil I believe they are using the same mob that did the Adelaide oval, and are building this in NZ https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/sport/511714/new-christchurch-stadium-a-chance-to-add-another-new-zealand-nrl-side#:~:text=The team would be based, over the next few weeks. NZ stadium is a pretty similar in concept, I think it will host rugby and cricket, but not 100% sure. The other design (MacPoint 2.0) sound looks like it will fund through private investment, the sale of the units that they will build (and sound proof hopefully ;) ) a hospital, car parks etc.... Apparently they save a lot of money in their design by not needing to 'skin' the stadium, One side is dug into the side of the regatta ground, and they are using the earth to push out into the Derwent for the rest of the stadium precinct. Can Victoria afford to spend $1Billion to upgrade the MCG to upgrade the great southern stand.... which apparently might increase capacity by 5000? and allow more food and beverage locations in it? I get that you guys have so much money you are throwing it at paying off the commonwealth games committee, but still that's a lot of money :D Adelaide Oval was $610 mil I think
  10. haha... yep, they are in here a hell of a lot these days :)
  11. I suspect low impact instead of medium impact will be their argument here. Low would get a fine.
  12. Was it your comment or your client's calling it a picturesque old world environment? it's reclaimed land that has had a woodchip port and a waste water treatment site on it. Either of these stadiums could be iconic in terms of location to the water, mountain and city. Why the perception that it would detract from the environment especially when no design plans have been released for this. 2.0 is impressive also.
  13. Incidentally, this is what a lot of the public were given as an artists render of what the stadium would look like. This image was produced by the architect behind Richard Flannigan's 'alternative' vision for Mac Pt incidentally. Firstly no designs are even released, this is an 'impression' based upon Marvel Stadium. But they put it out into all of the media and newspapers, so of course people thought it would be ugly. The image in the background is what the perspective would more likely look like. But it was too late with the doctored image that was already in the media.
  14. you picked a lot of nits...
  15. The state govt hasn't even announced design pictures, and the alternative https://www.stadiaprecinct.com/ isn't an eyesore. You are calling the port a picturesque old world environment? it's reclaimed land. Re young players, the AFLPA has already done surveys of male and female players, and there were no issues with people wanting to live here. For someone who 'does a lot of business' here you seem to have a pretty negative view of the state.
  16. Pretty passionate about this event today! It's a massive day for football. First expansion club in a football state since 1997. Really hope politics just gets out of the way and this is a celebration of football, and what Tasmania has provided to AFL football. Also a little bit biased here as my daughter is working with AFL Tas, and a team gives her and others like her a great opportunity to be a part of! :) Brisbane Council are on the verge of announcing a 3.4 Billion dollar stadium, and they are looking to effectively destroy the Gabba. This after they deemed the Gabba upgrade at 2.7 Billion too expensive!!!! Tas Gov (not a council!) are putting forward 375Million. The stadium just needs to happen, in the heart of the capital city. Not a suburban ground upgrade of Bellerive, not in Launceston for centrality reasons (in a city of less than 72,000!) There are almost 300k who live in the Sth of Tasmania! This is something to be celebrated. Tassie provided the Dees with these players (From our own website) Dale Anderson, Charlie Barnes, Ben Beams, Lloyd Bennett, Ray Biffin, Adrian Bowden, Claude Bryan, Noel Clarke, Cameron Clayton, John Clennett, James Cook, Brent Crosswell, Cec Cumberland, Harden Dean, Col Deane, Matthew Febey, Steven Febey, John Forster, Colin Garland, Bob Gormly, David Grant, Brad Green, Ray Groom, John Hamilton, Peter Hamilton, Jeremy Howe, Graham Hunnibell, Colin Jackson, R ‘Tassie’ Johnson, Peter Johnston, Andrew Lamprill, Noel Leary, Harry Long, Andy Lovell, Peter ‘Trunky’ Marquis, Tony Martyn, Lew Massey, Fred McGinis, Len Norman, Alf Oldham, Terry Peirce, Kerry Rattray, Michael Reynolds, Russell Robertson, Michael Seddon, Ike Sellers, Jamie Shanahan, Scott Sutcliffe, Tony Thiessen, Max Walker, Athol Webb, Geoff Whitton, Grant Williams, Mark Withers, Michael Young. Plus Neitz and Lyon were born in Tassie so gonna claim them here too! :P But thats just our great club. There are more stars that had fantastic careers elsewhere Alastair Lynch, Matthew Richardson, Nick and Jack Reiwoldt, Brendon Gale, Rodney Eade, Darren Pritchard, Paul and Peter Hudson, Darrell Baldock, Ian Stewart, Doug Barwick, Paul Williams, Royce Hart, John Devine, Paul Sproule, Michael Roach. For people who say we don't deserve a side, think of how poorer this great game that we all love would be if you didn't have these players making it the game you love so much! 4 AFL legends, many many more hall of famers. Some of the best players to ever play the game of AFL came from Tasmania!!!
  17. Might have gotten off if he didn't kick him on the way through, thats just dumb.
  18. Gonna agree with Kane Cornes about Aaron Naughton, used to be seen as the next big thing, he's a massive NAUGHT. They gave him an 8 year contract. Sam Darcy kicked 5 in the VFL team, and I don't think Lobb was horrible, but if they don't move Naughton to CHB, he's not going to look like a great investment. Dogs would be better trying to make him like Darcy Moore.
  19. Salem good, not great. Sparrow was very good v Carlton a couple of weeks back, and having Petracca, Viney and Clarry performing, gives him some time, needs to lift though. JVR competed in the ruck even though undersized. So much more competitive than Schache.
  20. I was wrong about TMac,... thought he was slow, just think it's slow to turn, so having him down back isn't too bad, and was good by foot.
  21. Like... health, cost of living and the things that are issues everywhere that all State govts are managing so well? :) It will come down to that too, but the biggest thing in this election is the increase of the house from 25 to 35 members, and the fact that it's more likely than not to be a minority govt.
  22. Correct, the ALP are being shown up as being even less 'transparent' than the govt on this, given that they are accusing of being the same in regards to the deal with the AFL. GWS and GC both had stadium upgrades being a component of coming into the league, this is no difference other than not being an AFL owned venture. Bec White 'claims' to have already opened dialogue with the AFL about not putting a stadium in place. Andrew Dillon has come out and said words to the effect that no conversation with the AFL has commenced with her to his knowledge and nothing has changed. She also believes that the 18 clubs have no say on the re-negotiations she has put on the table with the AFL. Bec White also at the previous election campaigned that if they got in, they would build a brand new 15000 seat stadium in Tasmania for Soccer, Rugby Union and Rugby League. Of which NONE of the sports have a national team from Tasmania. it's just pure hypocrisy. This is her third attempt to win a state election as the opposition leader, rumours are very strong that Labor expect to lose, and can't wait to boot her out so that a new leader (likely who will support a stadium) can take over. The former leader David O'Byrne is running as an independent and is pro stadium. The labor party could have potentially won this election if they hadn't played wedge politics on this issue. Tas Liberal Government for all the faults, has come out and said that it doesn't want the launch of the team this week to be a political football, and has asked all of the liberal candidates to not attend the launch and let it be about the launch of the team, and the fans, and the people.... and of course Bec White is absolutely wanting it to be political, and is attending and no doubt trying to show 'support for the AFL team.' Apologies for the rant!
  23. The stadium, like all of the stadiums seemingly in Australia is being built around the dimensions of the MCG, so is the high performance centre at Rosny.
  24. Richard Flanagan is put up as a shining beacon as to being a great Tasmanian. He's not an economist, he's a writer who is heavily focused on the environmental issues. He has no clue on this, and shouldnt' be speaking. He also is a proponent of an alternative use for the land, and as such is biased. Listen to someone like Saul Eastlake who at least IS an economist.
  25. Correct, your response is selfish.
