COVID & AFL 2021
Worst case scenario assuming we come out of lockdown with 3 to 4 weeks to go to the GF, why can't those who are fully vaxed be able to attend to about 50% capacity? I don't get why this isn't even being considered. About 50% of Vic will be fully vaxed by mid Sept

COVID & AFL 2021
With approx 6 weeks to go to the GF surely we "could" be well out of lockdown by then and back to say 50% crowds? I realise things need to be arranged well before then but how long do they need prior to the GF? Whether we are in the big dance or not, even if things aren't perfect (Covid / lockdown wise) and it needs to be planned / organised ASAP for logistics / commercial/ catering / accommodation purposes plus the bubble. Surely we can have a crowd of fully vaccinated (members first then the general public) attend the big one including security / catering staff and officials etc? If not, why not?

I think AVB and Sparrow's spots might be up for grabs Buck Jones & Baker maybe until Viney returns? However, so far there's been zero interest for those two from Goody & Co so i might be the only one that thinks that. Agree Melk seemed to do just enough to hang in there. Would just like to see him pressure more (effectively) in general without ball in hand. Pretty clean in the wet so will do his confidence pretty good. Let's hope he can maintain the rage as i personally think he can make a big difference with delivery inside 50 and an extra avenue to goal at the pointy end. Edit: just saw that Hunt is out so that leaves a spot for Hibb. Lockhart also?

Rnd 21, 2021 Optus - Eagles vs Demons Possibly ANB's best game (statistically) in the red & blue? Let's take a look at some of his output... 12 Effectives running at 63% (about 1.5% higher than his average on a wet / greasy night), 1 contested mark (rarely takes any), 2 one percenters, 3 clearances, 2 Rebounds, 7 inside 50s, 8 tackles (5 inside 50!), 8 score involvements, 2 intercepts, 2 goals and 4 turnovers. A top 5 result from a second gamer Bowey! Unfortunately Kozzie's worst game for the year by a big margin, aside from the clutch goal towards the end. Gus's worst game (statistically) this season as well. It should be noted that the Eagles had a huge experience advantage on Monday night making this away win quite impressive. Average games West Coast 132 / Demons 87. We had 8 rookies running around vs their 5. They had 10 players with 150 games or more vs our 3. The Top 5... Meters Gained > May 598, Harmes 515, Tracc 449, ANB 407, Lingers 374 Score Involvements > Tracc 9, ANB 8, BB 6, Equal 3rd Harmes / Rivers & Gawn on 5 Tackles inside 50 > ANB 5! Daylight after with five others, Harmes/LJ, Fritta, Melk & Spargo on 1 each Clearance Kings > Clarry 9, Tracc 7, Gawn 5, ANB/Harmes/Sparrow & Bowey on 3 each. Intercepts > Rivers/Lever 10, Bowey 9, Petty 8 & May 6 Turnovers > Tracc 6 (not too bad) and a stack of others on 4 or less. That's our best result on this in some time. VDB/CHUNK
Jones is (still) just ahead of Sparrow and AVB for mine. No brainer if fully fit.
-
CHANGES: Rd 22 vs Adelaide
He is but even he's not as slow as AVB now. AVB almost always slow plays the game as well which can ruin our momentum depending on how we're set up in front of the ball. Jones has his faults but he at least offers a decent link up option and some grunt at ground level. Minor minutes though if he comes in. Similar to Sparrow. Wouldn't play him for much more than 60% game time if that. The truth is we just don't have a decent replacement for any of them. I would say Baker for his speed and outside work but he butchers the ball. Even more so than Chunk 😄

I still recognise what those three are even in a shortened version Mel. WTF is a Dee? Half a Demon? A neutered one?

CHANGES: Rd 22 vs Adelaide
Jones is a notch ahead IMV and should be getting the nod. Not sure what SG is watching (or wasn't) in the Magoos and upstairs. Mind you aside from Munro, most in the Magoos were bloody awful last time around, but the match a few weeks prior Chunk was BOG by a country mile before doing his calf late. Sparrow a good young lad but unable to take the next step at senior level at this stage. As you say, another pre-season or two and who knows. They'll need to try & quicken him up though if possible if he's to make the grade i reckon. AVB shows great endeavour but he is struggling to get across the turf and shut opponents down without ball in hand & giving away too many crucial frees as a result. While Chunk is not a big step up on either by any measure he is still a marginal step up IMV if/when fully fit.

CHANGES: Rd 22 vs Adelaide
OUT: Hunt (injj), AVB, Sparrow IN: Hibberd, TMac, Jones SUB: Sparrow Spargoat is on notice & needs to lift! Does a few good things on the odd occasion but rarely asserts himself over four quarters. Should have kept his head after that. Ark in the last. Just gone straight back assuming he took it rather than play on regardless of [censored] umpiring late call. Also misses too many shots at goal from set shots from not very far out. Can't kick beyond about 30 meters accurately. Even though he must know this he still kicks the ball right to the line where there's very little chance of scoring a goal and 9 times out of 10 it will just go through for a rushed behind. Kick it to the top of the square son FCS or dish it off to someone who can slam it through from 30 to 40 out easy. Imagine not being able to make the distance from 30 out in a GF and needing just a merger minor point to win the match! Don't want another Eishold pls. Know your limits and play to them young fella. Needs to turn up the wick for longer. Goes missing for too many minutes. Lockhart a potential to replace if he doesn't up it this week IMV.

GAMEDAY: Rd 21 v West Coast
This mob has very little defensive run and doesn't like the ball being run in from a play on.....just keep doing that from mid field as much as possible
