PREGAME: Rd 04 vs West Coast
They only have the one serious tall in Allen. May can take him yes? Then there's Darling at only 191cm. Could piggy take him at 187cm or do we need to bring Tomo back @ 194cm or not quick enough off the mark to go with Darling? Or May to Darling, Tomo to Allen? (Hibb out) That leaves Kozzy in for Melk with Jordan as the sub?

Harrison Petty - KPF in 2023
Tomo could handle the Petty role in the short term while we trial Petty up forward. Tomo was in VG early form from what i saw and was unlucky to be dropped. You can't judge the success or otherwise of this experiment based on one week's result. Just hope the FD has the balls to hang in there for at least another three weeks (barring a complete flop in the next match or two) and let Petty settle. It will take at least two to three weeks for Petty to gel with the other forwards and the mids (and visa-versa) and to get his timing / running patterns up to speed. In all reality he probably needs a full pre-season doing so. Maybe he did get some serious time in this position pre-season. One of the track watchers might be able to shine a light on this?? Kev??? Gee my call about not getting GrunDEE at the start of this thread is starting to look very poxy indeed!

Weighted Average Scores up to & including Rnd 3 , 2023 vs H&A Season 2022 A tad early at only three rounds in. Not very robust numbers yet of course however let's take a quick squiz at where the boys are tracking vs 2022 (without getting too carried away just yet). Having said that, for those players that have played 3 full matches, the quality of the oppo has been at a pretty high level so IMHO this is a pretty fair indication of how they're travelling vs 2022 (so far). Note the team rating vs 2022 is up a substantial 8%. Although we were also up early last season vs 2021 and of course dropped away in the second half. Keeping the lid well and truly shut tight for now. Note: Some of the new recruits and debutantes obviously don't have any previous data with the MFC to use as a comparison. Hence some do not have prior ratings or percentage / ranking changes vs 2022. A number have also only played one match so their ratings will likely be skewed to some degree which is pretty obvious. Have also noted which players have been subbed out (<) and which players were subbed in (>). Where a player was subbed out super early for injury reasons (less than a full quarter played), resulting in very minor output (eg., Max as one good example so far), i will not be penalising said player by including that match for averaging purposes as that would dilute their rating significantly and unfairly IMV. Agreed re slotting at leaat one of the three. Also the last one running in, he had 2 to 3 loosish options ahead with an OTT handball if he lowered his vision. Easy to say from the bleaches and much harder to pull off under heat but i would be surprised if that doesn't receive a minor mention as part of his review on Monday.

Round 3, 2023 MCG - Demons vs Swans How about that for a win folks! We knock off our recent nemesis of late and last season's No.2 team... convincingly! Well done to everyone involved at the club on a tremendous result from the trainers up to the head coach. One of the best H&A wins i've seen in some time and we did it on Clarry's 150th. Who yet again ends up topping this table. Talk about blood and guts. This bloke rarely lets anyone down. Let's take a look at some key stats from our champ on his big day... 20 Effectives @ 80% efficiency, 5 clearances, 5 rebounds, 5 inside 50s, 7 tackles (the most for anyone on the day), 9 score involvements, 5 intercepts, 475 meters gained (only bettered by Tracc), 2 goals and only 1 turnover! The Debutante Van Rooyen... 8 effectives @ 89%, 2 marks inside 50, 6 tackles, 4 score involvements, 3 goals and Zero turnovers. Grundy... 17 Effectives @ 81%, 3 one percenters, 4 clearances, 6 Rebounds, 6 inside 50s, 3 tackles, 9 score involvements, 3 intercepts and only 2 turnovers. MFC Top 5 Meters gained...Tracc 572 (best on the day), Clarry 475 (2nd best on the day), Rivers 468, Jordan & Hunter 467 a piece. POSTGAME: Rd 03 vs Sydney
Ditto for me. What a win and what a day to draw a line in the sand on Clarry's 150th. So proud of the boys. Clarry was unreal as usual and Grundy slowly worked his way into things and got better as the game went on, especially after half time. Congrats to Goody & the FD for finally making a few hard call / changes to the forward line up, including Petty forward which many been calling for for a while. One week doesn't a summer make but it also takes time for a player to make the mental change from defensive to offensive mindset. In addition you have to learn where to run and to start gelling with other mids and forwards. That doesn't happen overnight. A very nice entre' though for mine. Let's keep it going and see how things pan out. Rooey did even better than i could hope for on his debut. Well earned and nice to finally have a very mobile dead eye in front of goal from 30 - 35 out who can also take the odd specky. Juddy Juddy Juddy .... how composed is this young fella. Wow i watched him alot last year, including his match against the Swans at the G with Casey. He showed signs and patches of very nice work but boy, he's slotted in amazingly well. A bit like Bowey when he came in late in 2021. Superb stuff. Oli Sestan the next likely Juddy / Bowey up-and-comer at Casey? Kozzy back next week. Let's keep the momentum rolling eh. Carn the Mighty Demons!

Kozzy makes a huge diff. Petty or Macca as far as pressure ...neither here nor there. Petty needs a block of games to see if he can settle in. Switching him back now is pointless as you're admitting defeat before you've given it a decent go. Ok so if we're up by 15 plus with 3 minutes to go that's diff. Then you might throw him (among others) behind the ball

Its nothing to do with that its the clearance battle and the cleaner ball theyre getting into forward 50 vs our spasmodic clearances and dirtty ball going in thereafter. The day we can spread from a clearance then drive it forward finding a leading forward almost directly in front on occasions will be a refreshing change. Chandler, Spargo & Tracc really need to get on their bikes big time in this second half. JV's in pretty bad form so far. Looks sluggish, trying to do too much and getting caught....alot. P.S. Kozzy out is such a killer.

100% this. So three certain HTBs for us againt Brisvegas in the 1st quarter conveniently overlooked but about as many that were nowhere near it called straight away in that quarter alone which turned the game back their way. Pretty sure it was Lingers on the wing which was the worst of the lot and ended up in them scoring.

Jefferson kicks from the middle to Macca who takes a mark across the contest and kicks truly from 30

So a player cant toe poke a ball off the ground anymore but a FB can run the ball out of the square 25 to 30 meters without bouncing???
