  1. Chandler if we have half a brain surely
  2. It starts with good conversation... "You want some dinner love?" ... "no i'm just about to have some but thanks" Music? Strictly the classics.... "it's a grand old flag (what else!) Dress code? ... 2021 Premiers hoody & Trackies. Fabulous!
  3. You might get punted by WC at this rate Uncle
  4. Would be nice but i don't know of anyone that's supplying TOG by quarter DW. Champion probably supply to the clubs & AFL media
  5. Most likely Fredrick who tore us a new one last time
  6. Picket i'm sure you've heard the old saying about ppl who start talking to themselves yes?
  7. Sounds plausible. Spargoat for mine. ANB seems like a player that needs the miles under his belt each week given his usual role.
  8. Thx WC... yes just read LN's quoted post lol. My bad
  9. This may have been covered elsewhere, assuming this happened with a fair chunk of game time left, why did we not use the sub??
  10. What a surprise. AFL introduces new rule then allows it to be abused or tweaked by those using it... then changes the rule again to counter it's initial errors or to appease the clubs/masses and/or denies it was ever intended to do what they first indicated was the reasoning behind its introduction in the first place. Great example .... dissent rule First half of the season "don't raise your arms like that...50 meters!" Second half of season...players in ump's face arguing and remonstrating ... "what dissent rule!?.. play on!!"
  11. More so for other team mates but just my view. Must be very unsettling (for some) this late in the season. Human nature says that at least some would be asking what the hec is taking so long given we are the reigning premiers and Gus & LJ have had all season to ponder/discuss with suitors etc. LJ is def gone if the mail and SG's reaction on SEN is anything to go by. As for Gus, who knows. If i was betting on him staying or going i would say he's not over the line yet but maybe a 60/40 proposition at the minute in our favour.
  12. Bring in form players from Casey who are willing to chase down, pressure and bring the heat but who can also hit the scoreboard. Starting with Chandler for Harmes and Hunt for Salem or JJ for some run & gun off a stagnant HB. Where does Bedford sit in the pressure forward stakes i wonder? Melksham & Weid bring a 'nice' offensive style of game when the ball's delivered to them early but when they haven't got the pill and things get a little tougher later in games... nowhere to be seen. T-Mac would be a great in. Any chance he makes it in time for finals? Not one lousy tackle inside 50 tells me the there's too many just happy to cruise along at the monent. Part of this laconic attitude stems from the fact that SG and the SC keep going back to the same well, week after week after week. The changes that should've been made for Port, especially up forward, weren't made. Zero tackles is the result you get for allowing too many under performing regulars (pressure wise) to get a little too cozy and happy with thier offensive efforts only. SG's own words from late 2020. "This club needs to become more ruthless". Well it's now or never for 2022. Four weeks to fix a spluttering engine and get the goody ship lollipop firing on all six cylinders again and alter course to premiership cove. If we don't we're gonna end up as castaways on Gilligand's island pondering on what could've been.
  13. Two critical areas that keep popping up for mine.... 1. Hunt for Salem or JJ (see point two... then feel free to commence rants!) Get some line breaking run and some controlled chaos / overlap off HB! Too stagnant and slow with transition allowing the oppo to set up both down the line and cover off our exits & block the lanes of our leading KFs / other forwards. In other words.... our transition is pedestrian slooow both by style and nature. Speed up our transition for better looks for our forwards. If not expect to see the ball being rebounded far more often, copping entry after entry into our D 50 (where the better teams will score!). One potential player solution is playing at Casey, but instead we prefer mostly plodders who can't break lines and can't / won't kick more than about 35 to 45 meters down the line (May the exception who can go longer at times but an extra 5 meters or so really doesn't cut it). Most refuse to pull the trigger with inside kicks or longer switches, bar May and Salem (who recently doesn't seem to want to do much outside of short kicks lateral or slightly forward and has lost his zip off the mark to break out of congestion). Defence very very predictable and too slow with decision making regardless. Don't get me wrong, slow play is critical to ice and seal quarters/games and/or try and stop the oppo's momentum at certain times. So yes there is a place for it during matches. Rivers of 2021 also didn't mind taking on the game and attacking when confidence was up. Hibberd on occasions and has shown intent after coming back, not so sure about execution though vs the 2021 Hibb version. Also Hunt can break to the right (Langdon wing) side and hook up with Lingers for a decent change up vs the predictable kick to the left wing from May. He does this a number of times in the 2021 highlights below. Need to show the opp diff looks if we're going to turn our recent form around... 2. Gus back to the wing pls!! I don't care how it's done just get him there. If that means JJ goes back to play Salem's role, or one of them ends up the sub so be it. Watch the 2021 highlights below. He is mostly impacting through the middle and just forward / around the arc. Basically patrolling between the two arcs but slightly middle/forward more of the time. Less time spent (especially vs 2022) entering the oppo's 50 to defend deep...

  15. 100% CYB. As much as JJ is performing at a solid level the above adjustment is the best option for mine as well. Unfortunately JJ has to take one for the betterment of the team.
  16. Hunt was serviceable against the Doggies. Superb against the Cats the week before after half time and basically kick started the momentum back in Casey's favour. Others then jumped on board for a great win in horrid conditions. Frederick gave us the run around last time. Hunt is an absolute must 'in' to cover here this week. We will see if SG & the FD have learned from the first match. I would also seriously consider Chandler for Harmes who is badly out of form atm. Chandler was pretty much arm wrestling Baker for BOG against the doggies yesterday and looks ready for a stint at the next level IMV. Harmes might need some 'managed' weeks to sort his game out and freshen up (fine tune his fitness?) a little.
  17. Yep most other clubs are abusing this every week now whenever they can. SG and the crew need to start gilding the lilly and take advantage of the sub to bring us into line with the teams we're competing against. One fresh pair of legs could be the difference on the day in a close encounter and sitting on our hands while we watch others use this against us...wakey wakey time.
  18. Yes it would seem that way DZ. However how easy is it to flick a switch and it all just clicks? Especially given the degree of difficulty in the last four rounds. Really needed to put the Dogs away. We have had interruptions with maintaining our best team all season. Then we've seen some of those returning from injury struggle to maintain form such as Lever, Harmes and in his first few weeks post covid ... Tracc. Dogga has never really regained his pre covid form for consecutive weeks either. It was a bit of a tale of two halves. With Clarry another player struggling after half time to maintain his usual high standards and understandably so. Should we have played him or brought Dunstan in giving him one more week to fully recover? It was obvious he struggled after half time. Yes no doubt a better option even under duress but was it worth the risk? Even though he still finished No.1 (statistically) on the night, that rating (4.40) from Clarry was 20% below his usual season average pre injury (5.53)! I guess us hanging in there and actually leading for much of the game is a testament to how well we did play for about 2.5 to 3 quarters. Unfortunately after that the Doggies just kept going and we began to fall away. The pressure wasn't really there from us from the get go though, allowing the Dogs to post a higher score in a bit of a shoot out.
  19. How did two players not get a hand in there. And didnt he just play on after the siren!???
  20. Nah you missed the whole gist and reason behind this ongoing thread with Kev mate. Might wanna do your research before bleating next time
  21. Can someone explain to me what the role of Petracca was last night? Seemed to be everywhere but nowhere. Would have thought he might have played more time as a HF but we seemed to allocate that role to Harmes who is badly out of form at the mo.
  22. Yeh i havent seen us set up with front and square players very often. It's just not in SG's / our FD's DNA or hasn't been till this point. So the multiverse alternative just felt perplexing to me when you mentioned it. If you watch a Blues match Kev, you can see that Vossy has them structured up for this, even around stoppages, so that if the ball gets hit either side they often have a sweeper ready to pounce. Same at the drop of many contested marks including one sitting out the back much of the time for the ball that slips over the back. Walsh one of the main culprits who works his [censored] off across HF to try and present here. Some of the worst vision for me last night was when our blokes run towards the arc from the skinny side... there is sometimes a player they could hit up fat side with an OTT HB or even a kick to a lead coming straight out of the goal sqaure. Instead, much of the time (not always ... Spargo to Weid one exception) they either dont see them or are on auto pilot and just kick blindly to a general area in the pocket and hope for the best. This is partly why i question our forward line coaching. Our forward craft just lacks cohesion and finesse. It's basically non existent unless Kossie gets hold of it in space and creates his own magic. And then there's the pressure factor. To lay zero tackles inside 50 last night. Well that says it all. We aint playing in a PF let alone a GF if we're playing at that level. The other pieces of vision that were damning last night. We failed ro cover the Doggies fat side outlets. They exploited us here which allowed them the corridor far too often. Lastly, after a scrap at HF for the Dogs, early on in that scrap i believe (but could be wrong) you can see what i thought was ANB running close to Treloar (loosely). He then switched off, drifted away, and allowed their most dangerous mid/forward (in terms of goal scoring) to get free on the fat side (roughly on the arc) for the easy receive out of congestion and goal on his favoured right side from about 45 out. Now you are not going to be able to cover VG to great players 100% of the time in match i realise. Especially early in a game where the heat / pace.is on. But this was.much later into the game and if the player in concern (ANB?) was truly switched on in a defensive sense, he would have stayed with Treloar and not allowed him to slip out for a bread and butter goal (for him). Worrying signs last night against an ordinary mid ladder opponent. Too mamy star gazers.

  24. This just tops of what is already a super ordinary night. Can only hope it's way off the mark.
