Looking ahead ... the Path to September
Jaded No More replied to Diamond_Jim's topic in Melbourne Demons
Not true, Adelaide and Port have played finals recently, as have GWS, and the Dogs had a run before they won the flag last year. Apart from Jordan Lewis, Hibbo and Melksham (?), who has played finals in our side? I don't consider Jones in 2006, as that was basically a lifetime ago. Of course anything can happen in finals, we know that, but you have lots of teams inside the 8 who have recently played in finals, even grand finals. Edit: Vince has played finals, but so long ago! -
It was a very disappointing turnout. Yes it was freezing, but no rain, and we are on the verge of finals playing one of our last home games of the year, with lots of stars returning to the side. I only got back in the country on Friday and could not wait to drag my jetlagged arse to the G. If you didn't come, you missed out!

Looking ahead ... the Path to September

From a selfish perspective I don't want us to finish top 4, as I'm not here for the prelim or grand final... but realistically our run home is very good. We only play one top 8 side, and we finish the year off at the G against pretty average teams who we should beat. We need to stay healthy and then anything is possible. I still think that if we make finals, our lack of experience will hurt us. But this season should be able to gaining that experience and carrying the momentum into the finals next year! -
I defy anybody to ever suggest that Jetta isn't one of the toughest guys in the league, and the thought he would ever duck or look for a free is actually laughable. A less calm player, say I dunno Vince, would have turned around and belted that loser one and got himself suspended. Not Jetta, he just kept playing and beating that hack. What a champ!
-
Gray started on Jetta and quickly realised he ain't getting near the ball as long as he stayed on him. The irony is that Jetta giving him a bath meant he was pushed into the midfield, where he almost turned the game for them. Be less good Jetta, I say.
-
Why? Bernies career is coming to an end. Trenners is a lot younger than him and deserves his chance
-
Not a bad idea but now isn't the time to rest him. We have to beat North. Maybe if we are looking more comfortable he can have a rest round 21? I would give Jones another week. If we play finals and he misses out because of a recurrence it would be a tragedy! The man deserves to lead us in finals!

Brilliant news! Gus is a super talent and the quicker he gets back to AFL the better.
-
Gus getting thru the game will be the best news since we beat Port 4 hours ago!

No change unless Jones is ready. If he is, out JHK in Jones. (I'm assuming Gawny is fine)

Hope Jetta told him to come back to him when he's an AA player not a hack with a hipster beard who can't kick. Nicolls did an excellent job trying to ruin the game and making me lose my voice. Hibberd, Jetta, Viney all immense. Tyson good, Oliver good, Hannan good, Oscar is ridiculously improved and can't believe I'm saying it, Melksham is coming good. It was a very good win. We played on our terms for a half and opened an unbeatable lead. They amped up the pressure, as good teams do, but we didn't relent. We went hard all day and held off for an excellent win. Hogan seems to be getting better and better and Gawn was excellent before he got injured. He was back in form.

Dear Nichols, please kindly go [censored] yourself! You are a pathetic troll.
-
Port can really play and change momentum quickly. This will become an even contest very quickly if we don't keep up the intensity. Dominating the clearances is helping. Welcome back Tyson Viney and Gawny (to form)
-
These umps I swear to god, even when we have a clear home ground advantage we still can't get a break.
-
Jack Viney on one foot goes ok I guess
-
I will never stop fantasizing about a forward line of Hogan and Jurrah together. Oh the feels... all of the feels! A Jurrah in his first 30 games right now could be the difference between scraping into the 8, and finishing top 4. Sigh! Anyways what a great initiative by the club and also as if you needed another reason to love Jetta. (Side note: Matty Whelan looks like he's had a good winter... still one of my all time favorites though!)
-
Crossing everything for him. He deserves some luck and we deserve to see him play AFL. He has the potential to be the next Jonesy!
-
Me and Nathan Jones are enjoying the view thanks
-
Vince doesn't help himself. He has a terrible record! He needs to just stop behaving like a tool on the field.
-
Haven't seen any footy this weekend and haven't seen the Bernie incidents, but all I can say is pathetic from Vince. You are a leader and we are struggling with injuries. What the hell are you thinking? Dumb, selfish, not good enough.
-
Why are people going on about Darwin? This is our first interstate loss of the year. We've lost more games at the G than away. Adelaide are not on top of the ladder for nothing.
-
Thanks. My dad said the Hunt goal was the only highlight too. I got excited as I watched us peg back the margin. A shame that we ended up losing by a big margin in the end. How bad is Kents injury?

My whole plan of watching this has match has gone balls up. Anyone know a free way to watch replays from overseas?

Yeah especially if he's passing the ball off to Kent who forgot his kicking boots at Casey! -

Trac with a tank is going to be something to marvel at. At the moment he really blows up quickly. I sit near the bench and he is often stuffed when he comes off. But gees he is a powerful player. One day soon he will have a game that makes everyone stand up and notice just what a gun he is.
