  1. Amen. I was so worried I'll miss us playing off in a grand final because I'm off on holidays in 3 weeks. I even told my boyfriend I'll fly home to watch us play, then fly back. Oh man what an idiot. I'll be drinking $2 cocktails in Vietnam on grand final day, and Melbourne can get stuffed!
  2. I'm more worried about the club sending me an email last week to tell me how I can purchase final tickets. Thanks guys for the totally useless info.
  3. I think the club wants Lever to allow Hunt and Salem more time on the wings. Plus it might save us from Vince taking kick outs, my least favourite 30 seconds in every game.
  4. That's pretty much the only joy we have in September as Dees fans
  5. Give him a year. Gees we have such unrealistic expectations of our players...
  6. Kane Kornes would know all about not being damaging enough. Totally mediocre footballer, who has NFI. I don't mind that Oliver didn't get selected, I mind that he didn't get selected but someone like Bontempali, who had a crap season, got in purely on reputation!
  7. Surely Oliver gets a 9.5... pretty hard to fault his season. Statistically the best ever 2nd year player, and without a doubt our most consistent performer this year averaging 30 disposals a game! Definitely one of the highlights of the year. Gawn my real lowlight. Yes he was injured, but gees he has stunk it up in the last few weeks when we really needed him!
  8. You know it's been a traumatic weekend when Mark Neeld's words of wisdom make a comeback
  9. I feel for the poor people working in the offices and getting abusive emails. I don't think Bertha who makes coffee and photocopies membership forms has much blame to carry for our pathetic ending to the season. However the players and coaches are fair game. I hope they are hurting and inconsolable. It is their fault and their burden to carry for the next 8 months. I hope it ruins their off season like it will the 42,000 members who don't get paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to do their job, yet still spend their hard earnt on this club.
  10. The biggest slap in the face is that this year we broke the membership and attendance record. We as supporters are doing our bit, and no doubt in a weeks time they'll email us and ask us to renew our memberships. They'll keep asking us to come to games and donate to the club Melbourne supporters have always pulled their weight even in the hardest times. It would be nice to just once be rewarded for all that effort and dedication, instead of being let down over and over and over again. I love this club, and always will, but with each passing year I find myself pulling away just a little. It's just too exhausting and too time consuming to invest so much of your emotional energy in such an unstable relationship. If the MFC was a guy, they would be the worst boyfriend ever.
  11. At the end of the day it doesn't matter who fronts the media or who says what. All that matters is that every single person involved in the failure to achieve finals, when it was all in front of us, is being reviewed. Goodwin has done good things, but fundamentally he has been poor in getting the team up each week and even in quarters. I rather this club stopped apologising for letting the supporters down, and start not letting us down. End of story.
  12. Mate, the press conference has come and gone. He just addressed us missing finals. Going nowhere.
  13. Give Viney a break, he wasn't out there, and one captain trotting out this garbage is enough. Instead of constantly talking and apologising and saying we will get things right, lets just shut up and actually get things right. It is a disgrace the way we ended our season, the way we dropped winnable games, and went to sleep during matches instead of pushing our percentage up. It shows laziness, pure and simple. I hope the players are as upset as we the fans are, but I am sure most aren't. The young players have no idea what prolonged failure feels like, and our leaders, except from perhaps Jones, don't seem to have the hunger to make things happen. Nobody at the club can possibility understand what it feels like to be irrelevant for so long, to spend year after year going to games, paying for memberships, following this club, and experiencing nothing but failure. So rather than cheap talk, I hope we have a ruthless off season and a ruthless pre-season and make some serious changes to the way in which we mentally prepare and approach games.
  14. 11 [censored] years of rebuilding, drafting, trading, new coaches etc and we are still a mentally soft team with a losing culture. What difference will one or two players make, when not one person in our leadership team turned up on Saturday? (Viney obviously excluded). We drafted mature guys like Lewis and Hibberd to help, and neither have. Hibberd has been excellent but had a stinker when it mattered most, and Lewis has been a total disappointment. Just cashing in his pay checks on the way to retirement with his 4 medals. Could not care less. The problem isn't one of talent. Hell we have a better list than Essendon and West Coast and if you take out Danger we have as good a list as Geelong. We are not far off Port either. Our list is not the problem right now. Yes maybe we are missing a few players to win a flag "on paper", but what we are missing most is an intangible winning culture. Our players are soft, they buckle under pressure, and yet they are so quick to drink their own bath water. Even putting our foot down against the wooden spooners 2 weeks ago would have seen us make finals. But no, we have a lazy list, we have morons on the cusp of selection going out drinking on 6 day breaks, we have repeated offenders getting themselves suspended and hurting the team (we have sucked since that Sydney game and the Bugg incident). We have players enjoying too much media spotlight and not enough hard ball gets. The club sent out a "get ready for finals" email this week. This just says it all, we believe we don't have to push at a rate of 100% every single second of every single game. We come out limp and disinterested in games, in quarters, hell we come out against bottom feeder clubs and get beaten. We just don't have a list that cares enough. Yes I'm sure Jones is gutted, I'm sure some of the rest are too, but as a club not one person stood up on Saturday and made finals happen. Not the coach and not the players. 11 years of absolute irrelevance and nothing has changed. Our list on paper might be a lot better, but it matters little as long as our attitude and mental fortitude is as pissweak as it has always been. Wish I knew the answers to fix this, but I don't. Clearly nobody does.
  15. Goodbye season 2017. You ended just as I expected. Screw you Melbourne and well done on finding new and wonderful ways to [censored] off your fans
  16. Oh the joys of being a Melbourne supporter. I was so calm on the plane. Now I want to stab something. This is so Melbourne! Even letting Collingwood kick those late goals is so us. What a [censored] way to end the season!
  17. Plane taking off. Much like Melbourne's final chances.
  18. To me 2 tackles in 20 minutes equals not trying hard enough.
  19. I am about to board a plane to Melbourne. I will be wanting Adelaide to win because they are my finals team this year and I really like the way they play football. But unlike us they have nothing to play for and West Coast do. We are the only team that epically choked this weekend. I hope West Coast are the second. But gees I am sick and tired of our lazy pissweak mentality and it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world for our players to experience the very real consequences of putting in a half arsed effort during games.
  20. Only got ourselves to blame for this stupid situation. I hope the players are sitting at home feeling sick to their stomachs right now having blown a golden opportunity to make finals. Idiots!
  21. I was obviously talking about teams in final contention. Carlton and Gold Coast have nothing to play for!
  22. Every team expected to win so far has. I guess you could mount an argument for GWS losing but that was definitely a 60-40 game given it was played in Geelong Only Melbourne has disappointed massively and showed no fight and the sad thing is, nobody is really surprised. I don't even think the players are surprised.
  23. Roos is a proven success. Goodwin has done nothing of note yet. Roos took a club on its knees and completely changed it from top to bottom. So far we have underachieved under Goodwin, especially mentally. Having said that, 7 coaches haven't solved our softness so I'm not sure who will/can.
