  1. It's calmed down since Rhino Richards was given the boot. I'm still carrying a demerit point from that knobend.
  2. Wouldn't wish it on anyone but it might just be a little hint of karma for the way everything went down. Hopefully it doesn't negatively affect his mental state too much.
  3. Did he lose his state contract? This all makes sense then, though it'll be a tough road back for him to even get into contention to be drafted.
  4. I tend to agree with this. He hasn't done anything for Vic to show that he can't go on to play for Australia, so I'm not sure why he would. 23 is very young in cricket.
  5. Wouldn't waste the time on a guy who (I think) hasn't played any kind of serious football since he was 18.
  6. A replacement for Sam Mitchell and the kid has only played two games? I knew Hawthorn supporters liked the crack pipe but jeez...
  7. And fortunately, we did very well out of it by grabbing Bernie.
  8. Bit of a sad situation to be honest. I'm annoyed that he didn't seem to apply himself anywhere near as much as someone like Jones, despite clearly having immense natural talent. Hopefully he doesn't regret this for the rest of his time and does find something that he is really driven for.
  9. I think he just hasn't been able to fit into the structure. Frost and apparently Dawes are rated above him and he has definitely been superseeded by Hogan, if he were to play as a pure forward. Sometimes though, I'd rather have Pedo over Dawes. At least he consistently marks the ball. Saying that, Dawes was pretty good on Friday night so Pedo might have to wait a little longer.
  10. I don't think this is such a bad idea. It's true what you are saying about his hunger and tackling, and putting him in the forward line minimises the damage he can cause with iffy disposal. However he's pretty slow so won't be able to have the same effect as Kent does. Probably Toumpas and Grimes in for me.
  11. Was the full clip longer than this footage? Thanks for clarifying. Still, coaches and players cop this thing fairly regularly. He could have had the self control to walk off but he has got a history of this kind of thing!
  12. Clarkson is truly a nut case, having punched a Power supporter after this weekends game. Footage is in the below link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fiXMLXbIQ9o To be fair, the supporter was riling him up (surprised there was no security around Clarkson) but his anger management issues got the better of him and he snapped. What will happen if losing becomes a little more regular for the Hawks!? Personally I'm glad that they will be embroiled in another issue because of their coach. Very happy we ended up with Roos and not Clarkson as seemed possible a couple of years ago.
  13. 'By some', every player at some point has been hopeless and needed to be traded. Tom Mc always had promise, toughness and overall obvious hunger for the contest. Different scenario, as he has now become one of the best key position backs in the league while Watts is still struggling to find his feet. It also doesn't help Watts that he was a number one pick - that will hang over him forever when people discuss his career.
  14. Last years win against Adelaide was probably the last one that had me really excited. Our other wins were against teams I expected us to beat or teams that we'd beaten in recent years, but the Adelaide one just came out of nowhere. I think we will win one of the next three, as hard as it is to imagine happening.
  15. Max Rooke! Now he was a great, no nonsense player. Loved him.
  16. I am a supporter who has been dismayed with Watts over the years, as a few of you (particularly jumbo returns) are aware. I have to say, I thought Carey's article was pretty much rubbish but he made a couple of good points. Watts' work rate is something that can't be doubted. The way he runs and presents is pretty impressive, even if he doesn't make a contest a lot of the time. However he is just way too much of a confidence player. He's just unreliable from week to week - one week he could be great but the next, down and out. Against the Tigers, there were a couple of questionable efforts (as I expect from him every game now) but I don't think his game was as bad as the week before. I think Watts will just continue in this fashion until the end of his career unless something magically clicks. Inevitebly, threads like this will continue to pop up while Jack Watts plays footbally - it's as sure as the sunrise.
  17. The umpires were pretty average, but I feel like they were consistently average. Two holding the balls stood out - the one against Garland, essentially in the Tiges goal square was atrocious and there was another against Richmond (can't remember who). So at least we got that howler back.
  18. He is just sensational. Watching Jones now, compared to how he was about six years ago is just amazing. Completely different players and so much of it comes down to his work ethic. I doubt there are many players who have worked as hard as he has to get where he is. Something that stands out immensly is his evasion through the scrimmage, he is so fleet of foot for a chunky bloke and when he can't slip through, uses his frame as a battering ram. His disposal over that period has also improved ten fold. Love this man.
  19. Hopefully he bounces back for next week. Just shows how solid our back six are, even without Nev. Awesome effort tonight.
  20. Great game from VB and a really good start to the season. Dare I say it, Michael Barlow come again? Hope no one else has said that yet...
  21. Overrated. It seems like only yesterday that he was 22/23 and full of potential.
  22. Good to hear Pedo and Fitzpleasure are playing well. If Frost misses next week (haven't heard anything new on his injury) there should be an able replacement.
  23. Certainly. Firstly, there was a contest on our forward flank with Watts and Talia (I think). Garlett was coming from the back and the ball was bombed in. Watts seemed to spot Garlett out of the corner of his eye and didn't go up for the ball at all. Subsequently, Talia took an uncontested mark and it looked absolutely pathetic. Of course in that instance, you'd expect Watts to go up and Garlett crumb, considering Watts was already at the contest and is the player that is 196cm? Secondly, later the ball was bombed out of our forward line toward the wing and a Crows player (can't remember who) attempted to gather and fumble. Watts was quite close but instead of running at the player full pelt and attempting to tackle or at least put on some real pressure, hung back in a fashion we often see from him and stuck the hands out. Not very effective. If you like, I'll watch the replay and give you more, but they are the ones that stick out in my mind.
  24. I have to say, Watts is becoming more consistent these last couple of years. Plays a couple of good games at the start of the season then drops the ball and returns to his usual self. Did not go when it was his turn, multiple times.
