WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JESSE HOGAN
Little Richard replied to Little Richard's topic in Melbourne Demons
Pick 4 for MD pick 2 and we can't lose. Martin or Hogan (preferably Hogan) will both be gun players. -
Sounds promising but please have a look at this guys appetite for the contest - if he's been playing basketball for a while what is he going to be like being laid out by guys as big as him and run into the ground? Have a look into that first... we don't want a bigger version of Cook.
-
Hold on to pick 13, use it on Kennedy and utilise picks later in the draft to pick up some mature bodies and established players in the ilk of Towers, Galea and so on.
-
Yeah, use a few of those later ones on mature recruits like Towers etc and we are laughing.
-
Basketball background? Watching him kick a footy would probably be laughable though
-
There is a chance I might not be available on the date Rollo. Due to some whack cricket fixtures one of our sides has a game on the Sunday of this date so if I end up playing in that side I won't be able to make the game. I'll keep you posted.

Are you the poster formerly known as Rassilon?

Should We Trade Colin Sylvia Before he becomes Free Agent
Little Richard replied to ashdemons22's topic in Melbourne Demons
Jaime Bennell could win one too, he just has to learn how to get the ball. -
Nah, inside is where he plays best for me. Struggled up forward, get him back in the guts.
-
Toumpas at 3, Stringer at 4 and Kennedy at 13.

Hopefully they miss that bit when reading through all the paper work... But if it could be done, yes. But it won't be for the reasons 'Lampers' mentioned. -
People are acting like Watts is comparative to Buddy and is untouchable. I like him a lot and I'd hate to lose him as I think he'll end up a very good player but if the price is right (in the eyes of the list management crew), you'd have to trust the club would make the right decision. The club is bigger than the individual. To add to that, what the hell would we talk about on Demonland besides the frustration that is Jack Watts?

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JACK VINEY
Little Richard replied to einstein251's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think he meant that by getting Jack in the second round we are getting picks 3, 4 and effectively 5 (Viney). But yeah I agree with the essence of the post too. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JACK VINEY
Little Richard replied to einstein251's topic in Melbourne Demons
It should just be left at 'Jack Viney will be at the MFC next season, whether he is taken at pick 3 or at pick 26'. The End. -
I wouldn't be disappointed if we picked him up at 4 to be honest. Stringer looks as though he is going to be a gun at the top level.
-
Ah yep that's who I was thinking of. Anyway, Banfield adds one thing we are really really desperate for - leg speed! Wouldn't take too much to get this deal done, so get out there MFC and do it.
-
Definitely worth a crack. Fallen back in the pecking order with Zorko and whoever else in front of him but is still a good little player and has real speed.

2012 Off Season - Demons Involvement
Little Richard replied to Household Demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
Hutchy isn't this clever! -
Membrey is the kind of guy I can see sliding a long way. Similar to Matthew Panos a few years ago who kicked a heap of goals in the championships, made AA CHF and didn't get drafted. Was a bit undersized, like Membrey but having said that I like the latter and wouldn't mind picking him up in the second round. 1st round, nah.
-
Yep I went to school with him and he was a massive pr*ck to everyone. Had his head so far up his clacker it wasn't funny.

The Free Agency/Trade/Draft Rumour File
Little Richard replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
I posted this in the Caddy thread but it belongs here too. I have heard via someone who spoke to Josh's brother, who plays down at Heidelberg in the NFL that Josh has a deal as good as done with North and will be there next year. As well as that, apparently a few of the Suns guys, Ablett especially, are happy to be rid of him. -

GWS and Gold Coast won't bid; GWS wouldn't risk missing Whitfield/Grundy and GC will need to hold on to pick 2 for a possible Tippett deal - stress less. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHRIS DAWES
Little Richard replied to Norm Smith's Curse's topic in Melbourne Demons
I was mainly focusing on the height as you stated he wasn't tall enough, but he actually has a strong pair of hands and his marking stats are evidence to that. Sure he might not be the most athletic but when hitting a pack at speed (and he isn't the slowest guy), kilos = extra force. At 105 I know I'd much rather him, to say Watts at low 90's. He might be an NQR mate but at this stage this NQR is better than most of the players on our list. -

Not talking ability, only the height issue. Apologies re Petrie, I was thinking of Roughead. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHRIS DAWES

I hate this 'splitting of centimeters'. Dawes is 193cm and you say he isn't tall enough to play as a marking target. Fev was 191. Pav is 192. Petrie is 193. Reiwoldt is 193. There are plenty more examples of this. A few centimeters here or there mean nothing. As well as that, Dawes is strong as they come and at 105kg has a fair amount of weight to throw around. Sure he might not be the most athletic bloke, but if he can split the pack and drop the ball to whoever is waiting at the front of the pack (saying that I hope we can pick up one or two small forwards), he is a hell of a lot more than what we have at the moment.
