I'd love it if we did but the reality is, as many have said already, there is nothing attractive (at the moment) about our club other than the money we can offer and for most players it seems money is the be all and end all. As well as that, as Stuie has pointed out, there aren't really any top line players floating around at the moment.

Totally agree with this and Neeld has openly said that Hardwick is a bit of a blueprint for him. Similar situation regarding list management I think. Too many people think we can just go out there, dangle some money and land a superstar but it just isn't realistic.

Can't see us making a play for him and I hope we don't. Has done virtually nothing the last two seasons.

Where the eff did Rodan pop up from? Love to watch him when he is on song but that's rare and he struggles to get up for games. Too much injury history.

I say this every year in the hope that someday I'll be correct but it hasn't worked yet!

Just to throw in some optimism I'll say we scrape into the finals.. things can turn around quickly.

I already have confidence in Neeld in this area - look at Magner and Couch, both blokes who are prepared to work their arses off for a spot on a list

To think we got Clark with pick 12... Honestly my confidence in recruiting is totally shot after the last 10 years, as I expect it to be for most MFC supporters lol.

In terms of trading though, I'd prefer to hold on to picks 3/4 for drafting prospects. I reckon one of these have to be on the table for that deal.

Agreed, Goddard is the only one that comes close. In reality there aren't really any 'big fish' around at the moment except maybe Tippett and the asking price would be well above what he is really worth imo.

Put it this way: at the moment we are effectively the worst team in the AFL and don't have anywhere near enough 'good' players to make up a 22 and are therefore very average, so we have to play our own rejects. The point is that the rejects of other clubs are slightly better quality than our rejects so can play a role to improve the side immediately, if only a little. That's my take anyway.

Maybe this season Todd Viney can just identify the players most like himself in the interviewing process/combine and draft them... couldn't fail could it?

The Saints never stop producing small forwards, so is he still rookied with them at the moment or was that in the past?

Saad was a big miss in my opinion. Proven small forward which we are still crying out for and would have cost next to nothing. Any other smalls floating around in the vfl this season?

With a very average tank too. Hopefully will kick a fair few more when he gets the endurance

Martin isn't a spud but if he were why on earth do you think Collingwood would trade a pretty decent midfielder for him (apparently a 'spud'). Rejects for quality does not happen!

Went to school with him and he played soccer until about year 9 or 10 so to get where he did in a couple of years is great and hopefully means he has a lot of improvement left in him. If it doesn't take a lot grab him.

Strauss and Blease both broke their legs in pretty unforeseeable in incidents - that's hardly injury prone.

Could you clarify a bit? Are supposedly trading out players for second round picks and then on trading the picks? Trading our first rounders? Sounds a bit iffy to me.

That's disappointing. Although he is 30 I really rate him and it wouldn't have been ridiculous for us to offer him 2 years, especially not having played a heap of footy earlier in his career. His body seems to hold up fine at the moment.

Lol no I do not play supercoach, and there are more consistent forwards out there. He is overvalued in my opinion - you don't pay a player in excess of 500k if he is there just to distract the number one backman every week, and if he is a key forward (on 500k +) 35.30 for a season is not good enough.
