Max Gawn
At times, there was a point from where I was behind the punt road goals Maxy was our FF in the square with Trac then Kozzie in a line up to fifty toward the square, and I thought that would cause concerns if you were coaching Freo... Lots of options.

Clayton Oliver Contract negotiations
If Oliver was cranky and looking at leaving, then in part, Iād put it down to his immaturity and hopefully heās realised it will be him, stepping up to lead his teammates that will deliver the success he may have being frustrated the MFC (and he) wasnāt experiencing. Theres a great moment in āThe last Danceā where MJ crossed this thread hold, embraced the team plan and refocused on team success over personal success... Hopefully, Clayton too has crossed this thresh hold.

Yarra has just install a lot more bike lanes throughout the council, so they are not discouraging inactivity.- Killing Football
Thereās a soccer pitch at end of Ramsden street, and another tucked between Heidelberg road, railway line and Merri creek, that are both āownedā by their clubs, many of whom members no longer reside in Yarra... the footy oval at the end of Ramsden is open (took fencing down) but also just got a cool new (exclusive) club house funded in part by council / local residents.- Killing Football
Hey DeeSpencer, in Yarra the issue is less with footy fields more cabel and ethnically focused soccer clubs who use the facilities while building little empires around their council funded clubs, often their culture is Not inclusive (it varies a lot) of the general public and they use it to play in local politics... your quoting of the local āsocialistā (his label not mine) member Steve Jolly defending these cabelās that give him support, only shows how little you know about the situation and ācorruptionā in Yarra... Steve actually founded a soccer club (Yarra Jets) to build an open alternative to some of the other clubs, but has also used it as a āpolitical toolā of sorts. ive no issue with people doing that, just think they should contribute fairly to the public purse thatās subsidising them...- Killing Football
I lived in Yarra for years and several of the public owned fields are āownedā by the resident club at the exclusion of the local residents. Great for fostering inclusion if your kid plays that sport at that club, a drag if you want to walk tour dog or have a kick to kick session on that field... over the weekend or when theyāre training... paying 4% of the cost to maintain these areas seems massive unders, 20% seem reasonable. Especially as these clubs also hit up the council to fund improvements to their āexclusiveā clubhouses (that also have a public toilet.... Lots of political projecting on this thread.- The premiership formula
At round 2, undefeated and in the top 4, nothing is sewn up. And each of those great teams, all were seen as āluckyā to win their first flag (think Hawks in 2008), the āgreatnessā was applied in retrospect. I worry the Doggies have another flag or two in their current (flag winning) group... our unexpected success not dissimilar to their wild ride to their flag... My point being, retrospective logic is a great way to describe and understand the past, but can be fairly useless in predicting the future... Go Demons.- Clayton Oliver Contract negotiations
I think the addition of Yze will help us retain Oliver (and Petracca), as we need to craft a midfield strategy that fully leverages our talent in the middle into full game dominance, finals and flags... if we can grow the sum of our parts theyāll stay for the success that will follow.- CHANGES: Rd 03 vs GWS
Given the lack of visibility re whoās playing well at Casey, itās hard to know who might be commanding a spot in the senior team. Structurally, Ben Brown (or Weid) will add a lot when ready as LJ is not quite there, so Max FT in ruck is my preference- POSTGAME: Rd 02 vs St. Kilda
Never in doubt after we reeled them back in the second. Well done boys. Bring on the Giants.- GAMEDAY: Rd 02 vs St. Kilda
Iād love the club to continue the ātraditionā of the BOG from the prior round tossing the coin for us in the next... Nice, if thatās what May taking the toss means...- Angus Brayshaw
On Gus and his role in the team, heās a smart guy who was receiving regular concussions playing as an inside mid, perhaps it was him who initiated his change in role/position in the team..?- NON MFC: Rd 02 2021
No Oscar no Carlton.- How many wins for finals?
At full strength Iād say 17 wins very possible, so the next month until we are has become crucial. The fact this group has matured to know every game counts (as well as percentage) plus our depth meaning there will likely be competition for spots all year bodes well. Once (and if) we can get our best 22 all fit and firing for a month or two we are well capable of beating anyone.- Tribunal & MRP 2021

Iām a fan of aggressive play, body work, etc in the contest to win the ball. However, if they breach the rules of this contest (ie hit them high) and hurt the player in the process, theyāve breached their duty of care and should be suspended. In addition, I Totally disagree that collecting players after theyāve cleared the ball is ok, and if the players been hurt (especially concussed) under this scenario, the AFL should throw the book at the offending player. I.e. Dangerfield.- Tribunal & MRP 2021
Huh? please explain..?- Tribunal & MRP 2021
The other thing about this action by Dangerfield is that it was clearly āretributionalā in that the ball and contest for the ball had left the area, and Dangerfieldās action was about intimidation and inflicting injury, NOT on competing for the ball. A low blow, with the same malice, intent and effect as a king hit behind play. Disguised as a last second boo boo... Heās a thug, and weasel.- Luke Jackson's last quarter
Also, re goal kicking accuracy, it was evident that fatigue was hitting most players late in quarters and last 10 min of each half. Nothing like real game pressure to push the players (who've not played 20 min quarters for over a year) into muscle burn while trying to settle for a shot on goal. Also, it seemed to happen across the competition to greater or less degrees... Hopefully, our goal kicking will improve as we acclimatise to the longer format and players "harden" during the season. Oh, and on Jackson, will be a gun as he matures and realises his evident talents, but will take another year or two to do so...- Can a full back win the brownlow?
Letās not get too carried away after 1 round of footy vs a very depleted Freo forward line. May (and Lever) played well, but aside from when May was on Fyfe he was on very average players. - Killing Football
