  1. Is Zirhar a bit over weight?
  2. Easy on Joel, the Lions entire forward line strategy is to isolate Cameron and put it to his advantage... Smith did ok (would Hibbard, May or Lever have defended better on Charlie?), and we won.
  3. Only thing that might entice Gus could be the possibility of sharing a midfield role with his brother at Freo for the second half of his career..? I don't think he'd jump for dollars alone.
  4. From a financial perspective what is the economic value to the state of holding 100k at the GF each year? Assuming every year at least one interstate team is represented it would amount to over $75 million if 35,000 interstaters rolled in spending just over $2,100... stacks up pretty quickly over the three+ decades to 2057, plus all the ancillary benefits.
  5. Does shirting your pants in the face of an immanent belting constitute an “illness”..? 😄
  6. When do we play the Cats? Hope we absolutely bury them.
  7. Agree re- JVR he looks very capable.
  8. Would have him back in a flash.
  9. I’d have Brisbane as our biggest threat, followed by Port and Doggies. Lions had some critical tall forwards out in our final against them, have quality midfielders and will be super hungry.
  10. I’d be having JVR paired up with Fritta, to specifically learn what he does as a mobile medium tall forward. If Bailey was to be injured or I’ll, line JVR to drop into his slot..?
  11. One impact has been, if I’m feeling flat or hung over, I put on my MFC cap and go for a walk… and inevitably someone gives me a joy filled “Go Dees”, which really perks me up. The premiership cup keeps giving…
  12. I’d actually like Goody to develop a second midfield group or rotation with Sparrow, Picket and … maybe Rivers, Bowey, Laurie. Both Kozzie and Sparrow have the tools to be damaging, and when switched on can add another dimension. Lets say a rotation of Gawn with Jackson (Oliver), Sparrow (Trac), Picket (Viney) at his feet… next gen.
  13. Premiers... How good is that? 😁
  14. Lots of BIG Games in Prime time this fixture... with more in the second half of season especially if Freo and Pie have a run at finals...
  15. Weird how it really holds no fears after the year we just had... Like that we have Lions, Dogs and Port twice, and twice Vs Pies is a great opportunity to scar them... ;)
  16. Maybe old Jakey boy partied a bit long and hard after the GF…?
  17. Hey Billy, Hear your pain, but I suspect there was some horse trading around this one and our fixture will reflect it.
  18. Got a jumped that Ron had signed recently, he signed it “Barassi 17410”… took me a few moments to work it out. Great man, best there’s been in this game. a speedy recovery
  19. Fritta was good, but also simply at the end of some exquisite play and delivery from our mids. Did very well to take his chances… Trac by a mile… then Fritta, I’d have personally rated Oliver and Salem higher than they were.
  20. Love this pick up, genetics are a wonderful thing, and what’s been forgotten perhaps is that Shane was 21 in 1997 when we recruited him, having played a couple of years for East Fremantle, then played 100 consecutive game as he developed further into his Brownlow form… So baby Woey likely to take a few years, be durable and consistently grow his game. love it Go Taj Go Demons.
  21. Given the winding back of the Academy, it would seen that clubs should concentrate their non-list development efforts on father son/daughter development... as there's is real (defendable) benefit to be had with this program. Maybe a geneticist, and in-house breeding program on the down low as well..? 😜
  22. Hey Sue, I hear you and agree we should be cautious, humble etc... however when close games consistently go your way, and open up to solid wins, you are the better team. If thats happening more often then it used to you are also getting better quicker than your opposition and this is a reason for genuine optimism... I felt nervous in every game, but, increasingly not worried, especially after the Rd 23 comeback. That game was our step shift game when we realised we were genuinely the best team in this competition, and never out of the game. Take that shift, plus the sheer joy we just experienced winning the Big one and the non-22 players wanting in, into 2022,... and we shall be very hard to beat. Harder to beat than we were in 2021. In my opinion, significantly so.
  23. Our improvements that came late in 2020, continued into 2021 and put us into top 4 and minor premiers, with scalps for most top 8 teams over the year. Late in 2021 we stepped up another level, and that level put us well above our top 4 peers, each of which we dispatched by good margins in the finals. There's no reason to believe we can't carry this new level into season 2022. No reason to believe we'll backslide given the last few seasons we've gone from 17th to 9th to 1st... in fact given that improvement we should be 1st by a good margin in 2022. So to answer your question... "No, no team will catch us next year. We will have a season like the Dons in 2000. Dominant, hungry, bloody hard to counter and at its best brutal, sublime and unstoppable." Not being arrogant, just looking at what's just happened and extrapolating on the form lines... Go Dees.
  24. Does Taj and the club need to lodge the father-son papers today to make this happen?
