  1. For some reason I'd see Jacks (196 cm, 91 kg) midfield evolution in the direction of a player like Pendlebury (191 cm, 91 kg, with a basketball background). Fingers crossed.
  2. Which makes Jack the 88th best player in the competition..! Whoop Whoop! Edit: If you ignore the 24 players rendered ineligible... i.e. he's actually 112th best player in league.
  3. MFC has one more vote than Dusty. But lets not go there...
  4. round 16 brown low and Western Bulldogs 38 votes (across 10 players) - MFC 14 votes (across 5 players)...
  5. Yup! round 16 brown low and Gold coast 42 votes (across 10 players) - MFC 14 votes (across 5 players)... We rock, loads of talent, nothing to worry about... Bring on 2014..
  6. The swans get to pay an extra million in there salary cap. A huge bonus in retaining and attracting players, while we can't afford to even pay 100% of our smaller salary cap...
  7. This decision essentially slows the pace of any Melbourne revival, and given our "group of talented kids" are looking to be competing with the AFL's "Frankenteams" in the next 3-6 yr period we are fckd and only at best likely to be almost rans... Tired of the systemic inequities of the AFL competition combined with the AFL's own agendas working to only increase the distance between the MFC and any real success. The reason that the Dogs Saints and us have avoided success for so long is because we are surplus to the strategic interests of the AFL. Unless we unearth a genuine champion in the next couple of years we will be mid table for a decade. Yawn and apologies for the rant. Fckrs
  8. Really! That's sad.
  9. Mid first round is my guess... When do we hear their decision?
  10. As we nail down the coaching appointments under Roos, it would be interesting to explore the players these new coaches have been exposed to as they are likely to feature in our draft/trade focus over the next month if the past is anything to go by. For example Neeld/Brown - Dawes, Craig - Sellar, Rawlings - Clarke, etc... So who was Roos developing at his Sydney academy who'd be of interest? Who was Allisons working with at North who'd be of interest? Who was Mathews working with at Gold Coast who'd be of interest?
  11. Toumpas (along with Jack Watts) are two players you'd like with the ball in the middle looking up, and seeing Clarke, Hogan and Dawes streaming towards them... BANG... Big year for Jimmy in 2014.
  12. Could Jordie ever grow into this..?
  13. But the boys never recovered ...
  14. Such a shame, I hope he's happy. Best wishes Liam.
  15. For some (ignorant) reason I'd assumed the connection to to internet in Yuendumu would be lousy. Evidently not. Well done Telstra.
  16. Liam's journey over the past couple of years would have changed him, and ideally helped him make himself a better person. If that resulted in him deciding to try to resume his AFL career, then the MFC offering him a rookie spot seems a no brainer. Fans of Paul Newman in "The Hustler", know that character is built through adversity and tragedy, Liam has had both. And should he want it, we'd be mad not to embrace him.
  17. Credit where it's due - Neeld made the right call on Jordan Gysberts.
  18. The romantic in me longs for a better ending to this man's footy story, and I'd love to see his magic in the Red & Blue again... I know its a dream... Playing in defence in Alice at the moment http://www.ntnews.com.au/article/2013/07/29/323302_ntnews.html
  19. The bar is set pretty high on that one Deetective Try -
  20. Shhheeesh not enough ambition on this site. I say we trade them all our and get this line up B: Corey Enright (Geel), Scott Thompson (NM), Michael Johnson (Freo) HB: Jarrad McVeigh (Syd), Harry Taylor (Geel), Sam Mitchell (Haw) C: Ryan Griffen (WB), Joel Selwood (Geel), Scott Pendlebury (Coll) more to come...
  21. It you look at Roos record with drafting, he seem to target team with red hot midfields and looks at midfielders that are struggling to get a game, i.e. Kennedy from Hawks. Dom could be similar?
  22. I think Jack is the type of player who will rise with the tide (so to speak), as in when Melbourne are up and running he'll be a better player. The intro of Hogan and Clarke next year will lift the intensity of the forward line ( and provide JW with clear targets), the intro of a couple of seasoned mids will lift the intensity in the middle (where JW should play, i.e. on wing). Jack knows he has no more excuses and a rare opportunity to recast his reputation as a quality player under a well respected new coach in Roos... Everything is in place for him to succeed and finally have some of those career defining and game winning moments we all know he is capable of.
  23. Is it coincidence the week we play Fremantle a rumour circulates that Fremantle in interested in Melbourne's Jack Watts? The most plausible reasons include: Melb thought Jack could do with a reminder that unless he lifts his game (and extends his contract) he might find himself at a new club next year of Melbourne's choice, and one potentially 3440.8 km away from his family and friends. Freo marketing thought it might get more Freo fans turning out for an otherwise lack luster Sunday late arvo game... Jack let slip that he'd always fancied moving to Perth's version of Geelong.
  24. Agree, my biggest worry about JW is that he's still waiting for others to lift and lead the team into better times. Those players you mentioned seem to be taking public responsibility for turning it around. At the same time JW publicly laments our lack of selwood, hodge type players... makes me think he's painting himself to be a fringe player... Which we'd all hoped he'd be more than.
  25. Every Auction needs a couple of bidders to up the price. We can say to GC and the other Vic clubs we'd take Caddy for Pick 13 (if GC play ball on JV). This would mean for Caddy to go elsewhere that the club would need to offer GC batter than Pick 13. GC get a good deal for a so so player.
