WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - TOM GILLIES
IWAP replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
I would have thought with the introduction of FAs, the pre-season draft will almost become a non-event. -
Caroline Wilson's descent into gutter journalism
IWAP replied to titan_uranus's topic in Melbourne Demons
I thought the line referring to supporters who ask why other clubs aren't receiving the same treatment as 'feral' was the worst line in the lot. Anyway, as others have mentioned, this comes off as a typical bigfooty-style troll. Whats the best way to deal with trolls, don't give them the emotionally charged reaction that they want. She knows the type of reaction the article would have generated, so the best response IMO is any that highlights any innacurracies in her reporting, anything that suggests her reporting skills are poor, that may embaress her. I'm sure we'll get other articles like this, and unless they are truly worthy of defamation cases, i think we are going to have to cop it. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DAVID RODAN

I'm just repeating what he said. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DAVID RODAN
IWAP replied to Demon Head's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yeah - he used that as part of his justification for those comments a few weeks ago. Something along the lines of, 'they'll recruit anyone that wants to come to them. Rodan is likely to join them, because no other club will want him'. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DAVID RODAN

Can't say i'm thrilled about getting Rodan - but i've got faith in the football department, so i'll back them. The thing i'm most upset is that Greg Denham was the first that I know of to suggest Rodan to Melbourne. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DAVID RODAN
IWAP replied to Demon Head's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'd prefer we didn't pick him up. I like the player, i don't mind the risk of injury (given his price), but from the limited times i saw him this season, his characteristic zip and x-factor seem to have diminished. 1 or 2 years ago, I would have been happy to have him. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JESSE HOGAN
IWAP replied to Little Richard's topic in Melbourne Demons
Had my first look at Hogan just now on youtube. Could've watched him play for hours. If he plays games for Casey next year, i'll be heading down to get a closer look. In my time of watching the Dees (since late 80s) I reckon our spine now is looking about as good as it ever has. -
If this trade happens (unlikely), then i'd expect there would be a good chance Dawes would be wearing red and blue next year
-
Think he has had 3 recos (2 LARS). Struggled to get a game at Port this year even when fit. About to turn 29. I'd pass.

Heard from a very poor source (Greg Denham via SEN this morning) that we are the frontrunners to pick up David Rodan. Thankfully the person who clips the nails of my next door neighbour's dog, disagrees, and i'm more inclined to believe him.

My son is too young to take to the footy just yet. But my mate took his young boy to the footy for the first time this year, and i think he's got the right idea. Took him to 2 games. Gold Coast and GWS. His son thinks we are awesome!

Agreed Stonecutters is a bit rough - but don't sell yourself short. You've been the other dominant team, and rightly start this week as overwhelming premiership favourites. No possible way you could lose this one ...... Best of luck (and by that, i mean I hope Boyd gets subbed out in the first quarter)
-
Stranger things have happened. This will be the first game since 2009 where i'll be attending a match, hoping we don't win. I don't feel great about that feeling.
-
Really envious of those of you plaing finals next week. You should all feel for Stonecutters and I with nothing to do during the bye #arrogancewillbemydownfall
-
Wow - only 4 points between 5th and 11th on the ladder going into the last game of the season. CGSMU looks safe, given his percentage, but i think any of the other 6 teams can still make collect one of the three remaining spots. Dark Days i'm already plotting my strategy against you for the first week of finals....

I've got no problems vetoeing this - if one of the two parties is not happy with a trade, i don't think it should go through.

Hi all. Well we’ve reached a well-earned mid-season break. Congrats to our half-way leader Stonecutters with an impressive 9-1 win loss record. And remarkably he’s done it with only making the 1 change so far. It’s time to make some decisions about the future direction of the league. Cause I’m really not around much these days, I’ve decided to pass over the running of the league to Striker. I’ll still be actively involved in playing, and offering up my usual array of one-sided trades, and also I’ll give Striker a bit of a hand when needed. Thanks all, and enjoy the break!

Nice trading guys. Reckon thats pretty fair. Gonna leave a big whole in your defence though Robbo King!
-
Its only a deadline for trades. You can cut / sign right up until the very last week.
-
So I guess he won't be playing in the round 17 match in Darwin
-
I'd personally prefer not to have a keeper league - I look at my team, and see a lot of mistakes and would love a clean slate next year. But we probably need to make a decision on it soon, so people know how to properly list manage. What does everyone think?

UF Norm Smith and R. Flower Leagues (combined thread)
IWAP replied to Range Rover's topic in Melbourne Demons
I am in favour. Anyone that follows soccer, or even the Ammos, can't help but be entranced with the relegation / promotion concept. Anyone that is good enough to be promoted from RF league would definitely shake up things in NS league, while at the same time, those relegated from NS league, would help strengthen the RF league, after what i believe has been a solid first year so far. We are relatively new, but if you look through our thread, you'll see there are some solid rivalries forming. I think it would also give incentive to other demonland posters to sign up, and try and work their way to the top. So what would this take for it to go ahead. A majority vote in each league? Its attitudes like this, that will see you slip to the Barassi league by 2015! -
Good contest. All my players played to their peak today. Scott Selwood has been such a relevation for me this season. Thought i overpaid for him at the time.
-
Hope your not this premature in other aspects of your life :D Hitouts and Score are secured. My captain and vice-captain yet to play, and the Ultimate footy recruit of the year, ie. Sentanta O'Hailipin will be making his debut. My focus is already on next week.

Youch looks like you have been hit hard. Only slim pickings out there i'm afraid...
