  1. Rivers would have marked it instead of punching like Garland just did. Lack of confidence and ability.
  2. Yeh agree wgaf but I hate hearing him repeatedly say how good Howe would be in a better team......so all the good players join Manchester United and Chelsea
  3. If you want to feel normal again, just stop watching us. You have to disconnect with what is actually happening. Either that or start following Hawthorn or Geelong...
  4. I went to the G tonight and was bored. Bored bored bored. Sick of Geelong sick of their superior football sick to the guts that Stephen Wells has several picks after us that end up far superior to our early picks just sick! Anyway I wish that somehow my team could bore and sicken me that way instead of the shite we will have put up with tomorrow...
  5. Not surprised they are taking so much time deciding when to make the sub, so many choices...
  6. Criticising our drafting is too easy with hindsight. But when I think of Dan H and Luke Shuey running around at Oakleigh Chargers and wonder what Bazza was thinking re JS. He obviously sought 'elite' kicks over other factors (heart and football brains). Our current team plus Shuey, Hannebery, Darling and dare I say Wines was possible once but anyway its not so c'est la vie. I really hope the boys win tomorrow. Clark, McDonald and Trengove should now be match fit. Go Dees....
  7. Should Schwab step done, probably. His record of being associated with success is really poor and there are other threads listing his successes and failures. Cats fans tell me Cook and Costa demanded high standards and put in place people like Wells, Bomber and Chris Scott. Did you know that Cook played 4 games with us in 1977 ?. An employee who was interviewed for the Andrews Report told me that the feedback they and other staff had given was quite unfavourable to both CS and CC. Did anything happen internally apart from moving CC to entertainment ? Details of the report have not be released by the Board but I expect still have relevance with regards to CS. CW was certain that CS was directing CC and DB in 2009 to secure draft picks for his "premiership model" but he must have covered his tracks too well! A player told a confidante of mine that CS would enter the rooms at half-time during DB's rein and advise the players how to play. I know this last point is not news. The club is in turmoil and the CEO must take some of the responsibility. The appointments of key officeholders such as the head coach and recruiter are part of a CEOs mandate. I was there with Essendon supporters last night and they said they took little joy out thrashing such a pathetic team (would rather it be Collingwood). The fact that we are here after 6-7 years of rebuilding is demoralising. However we do have some excellent young talent at Melbourne and there is life left in some of our older players (Davey's kicking last night was really good). Let's start the process of renewal. We need to talk to the AFL, review our board, CEO and Coach (BFFS don't ask GL). Maybe they can build a case for summary dismissal if he won't step down. Anyway let's hope they do something.
  8. On the train heading to the G to sit with Bomber mate of 40 years . We go every year (since 1975). There have been a few occasions of joy not many . Darren Bennett made my afternoon once, so did G Lyon, in 1991 i remember a young Ox shooting for a late goal at Windy Hill that would have pinched it for us and I have enjoyed the last 3 times! But I had butterflies last Saturday and tonight I feel nothing. Just looking fwd to seeing my mate. Dees just go out there and have a red hot go but do it for 4 qtrs!!!
  9. The PS article seems reasonable to me also. My 7 yo boy and I went on Sunday and it was quite demoralising. We had taped the Storm v Broncos game and we watched it after the Dees game, it was fantastic to watch. I asked my boy whether he wanted see the next Dees match against the Bombers but instead he asked if we could go and watch Billy Slater (he was very excited when I said OK). Its school holidays so we are off to see our first live Storm game next Monday night. My interest levels in all things Dees, usually quite high, have been obliterated like many others given Sunday's pathetic display. I am not surprised by the number of new threads started that are questioning the players, the coach, the board and the CEO. We are all in this together and I hope leaders can be found to move us forward somehow. A win against the Bombers next Saturday night would be a start. Anyway go Melbourne....
  10. I was at Casey Fields Saturday and stayed until Mitch and Sam safely left the arena... My thoughts are that Mitch (so long as he has recovered OK), Sam and Jordie should be OK for next Sunday. I liked Kent too. On the other hand Trenners I thought looked too underdone to play this week. PS: thanks to the Clyde Road tip, a much easier trip from the city than the South Gippsland Hwy
  11. Yesterday I was talking to a junior coach at a Melbourne AFL based club who said that on a scale of 1 to 10 where 10 is the coach does what the players want and 1 is the players do what the coach wants, in his opinion Chris Scott is a 9 and Mark Neeld more a 2 ! This would support the FIFO strategy outlined earlier in this thread.
  12. Yes, Good luck to him, these roles are thin on the ground....but so long as he plays his role and leaves the half-time coaching to those appointed.
  13. You have to admire our recruiters. I've seen many Amo games but have no idea how someone can watch a game and recognise that a particular player will be able to step up to AFL. Not only that, Nicho has done so in such an impressive fashion so far.
  14. Regardless of whether its Cale or not (and I still worry about his appetite for a contest), an MFC Director told me earlier this year that Melbourne will (not might) lose one young gun to GWS.
  15. Great to see good performances in the VFL being rewarded. Very excited to see Big Max and J Howe play plus Tom and Jack are back! Interesting that Liam is named on the bench. Disappointed that Addam Maric has been dropped. He played really well against the Bombers in the NAB Cup. Unfortunately for Addam the selectors continue to prefer Bennell to him. He was unlucky not to play games late last year despite his good form in the VFL and Jamie had dropped off. I am going tomorrow night with my best mate (a Bombers supporter), a tradition that goes back to the late 70's. I haven't had too many joyous moments over the years and those I have had have been largely unexpected. Go Dees.
