Gotta say that these vids make me cringe each year. Yeah, it's the silly season, big deal, but given how poor we've been on and off the field over recent times, I'd rather we gave it a miss. IMO it does not sit well with the 'toughest team to play against' mind set. Do the top 4 teams do this yearly? I honestly don't know. But I reckon they certainly wouldn't if they consistently finished down the bottom.

Isn't there already a thread for this?

Try telling that to Ron Jeremy

The Trade/Draft Forum has been put out to pasture
Moonshadow replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Here's hoping our draft picks next year are initially not high ones. Team Neeld would be building something damned good if that happened. -
A friend of mine taught Mark Neeld english at high school. Said he had attitude and still owes her an essay. We are doomed.....

Who will be in the new Leadership group
Moonshadow replied to Barney Rubble's topic in Melbourne Demons
Frawley in for Barty. The rest as is. No to Dawes, Rodan, or Byrnes this coming year. There will be more pushing in 12 mths. Good place to be IMO. -
Not sure that is the best thing to happen, Redleg. A truly professional player would grasp the opportunity given regardless of club, commit and give it his all. Not sure I'd trust a (currently) fringe player who would enter into a sneaky deal behind another club's back. As we've seen with Tippett, these things are not looked upon well by Vlad - not that we are necessarily talking about the same deal or that Hannath is in the same class as Tippett. 12 mths is a long time in footy and this time next year I'm guessing that Hannath will be thinking much differently about his selection. I too am disappointed we did not get him, however I wish him well at Freo. Isn't it great that players want to come to MFC. How things change.

We shall see. Still waiting for the proof of the toughest pudding. Pointing in the right direction and need some results this year.

Neeld puts 2 H&A games in Darwin on the agenda
Moonshadow replied to Diablo Deemon's topic in Melbourne Demons
What if we played 2 in Darwin and no home games at Forgetihad? -
Shades of Steven Armstrong?

IIRC Jordie was heavily courted by Adelaide whilst he was a rookie at MFC and chose to stay a rookie so we could use a spot on the senior list. They must have seen considerable potential in him. First full preseason (so far). With a big tank his kicking under pressure will improve. Nico, Bail and TMac have big tanks and their kicking makes Jordie's look text book perfect. ATM he's ahead of most in our midfield.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - MITCHELL CLISBY
Moonshadow replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Good highlights reel. Looks to have great awareness and measures his disposal well. Also looks rather slow and very one-sided. Was that David Rodan he tackled twice? Gotta love that, will be a bit of competitiveness between them on the track. -
Great start fella. Welcome.
-
Damn. Managed properly, it should hopefully be no more than a minor setback. Will interrupt his preseason, but he's a determined young man who will do whatever it takes to recover properly.

Actually, that's it in a nutshell, in terms of our approach. And the more pressure that is put on Jamar for his spot the better. Could we not also consider feeding them in from the top as well? Unfortunately, I can see Grundy leading the way at Coll in this regard. Just hope we end up with one long term, very good ruckman from the current batch (Hannath included if he's rookied)
-
Didn't you know Stuie that its mandatory to bag players that are no longer on our list, regardless of the points you make.
-
I thought our ruck stocks were brim full?

Jeezus, we've just picked up our current crop of youngsters. Who knows where we will finish at end of 2013, let alone the outcome of the Wilson Witchhunt. Give us time to take a breath. One thing is certain, we're gonna love watching Jesse Hogan develop this year.

We could have offered to pay some of his final year contract as an incentive to trade, as happened with Morton. But of course Morts was not on big coin. My guess is that either he's so shot that no other clubs wanted to go near him, or the FD still see something worth keeping. The training reports on here say that he is well behind in terms of fitness, but that his kicking and decision making are looking very good. We are all speculating about the actual condition of his legs. Anyone know with certainty what the prognosis is here? Surely we would have heard that he was on the trade table if that was the case last month. Neeld has shown he is prepared to get rid of those who will not add something to the list, regardless of reputation or draft pick. I cannot understand why he would keep Davey and not try and trade him, retire him or come to a financial understanding to free up a spot on the list if he did not think he would overcome his troubles. Yes, he has a big family to look after, but why spend a year in the VFL further ruining your body when you could work out a financial settlement, retire with dignity and free up a pick in the PSD or rookie draft. He himself came through the rookie system, so he would understand it's value to a young AFL hopeful.

Keeping the 'Jack' tradition going at Melbourne!

It's just a flesh wound!

Looks bigger than 72kg on the highlights reel. I wonder if that stat is a year or more old. Good decision maker. Reminded me of a Steven Stretch type player. However, doesn't get much of his own ball, ATM. Still... good hands, nice right foot kick, likes to deliver long to a leading fwd. I like.

Injury hiccup for Dawes

Time to let go of the Wines debate. Decision made by the club, move on. Watching the interview with Toumpas wearing a MFC jumper on DeeTV you can't help but be pleased with his attitude. Very humble but confident, spoke really well and wrapped to be at Melbourne. Has lived in Adelaide but said his father is from Brisbane and came down with a group of family to see him drafted. Keen to move to Melbourne city, meet his new team mates and get started with training. Wonderful opportunity for him and our club. This line I liked particularly: "I'll be there tomorrow morning if they want me to be there!"

Look back and you'll see I was making a light hearted joke, regardless of age of target weight, hence the numerous exclamation marks. You started the lack of logic by getting all aggressive over a throw away humorous comment. Others read it as that and noted your overreaction. Good luck with that.
