WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - ALEX NEAL-BULLEN
Moonshadow replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
bump... Informative little interview on the club website. The kid speaks very well and seems to have a mature head on his shoulders. Played Casey DL on the weekend, so he appears to be back into the thick of it. Looking forward to seeing what he can do. http://www.melbournefc.com.au/video/2015-04-23/nealbullen-returns-to-football -
At times, both. His development appears to be tracked patiently at Sydney. They can afford to do that. He'd certainly get plenty of senior games at MFC. Zac has a lot of potential. Maybe he's slipping under the radar because he's playing 2s in an interstate side. I hope everyone would agree that his family ties would not be the reason we might trade for him.
-
Good. And so it should.
-
Sydney are very good at giving young mids 2 or 3 years in the seconds with only a handful of senior AFL games. There are exceptions, such as Heeney, but I'm wondering if this patience is being used to develop Zac. I'd certainly love him at the Dees, but ATM consider a high second round pick or even late first round around 16-20 as a realistic trade scenario. He might slip as the year progresses. For his sake I hope he does get more senior game time at the Swans.
-
Will be very interesting to see who the club looks to trade for at season's end. I reckon Zac might just be up there on the list.
-
Nate Jones is currently better than Marc Muphy. Dom Tyson has a huge chance to be better than the both of them.
-
Yes, good point GRRM. But don't want Murph at Melbourne next year either.

Actually, that's not correct sue. Read the op again and you'll see the thread is about Jessie's kicking action in general, not about why he "misses goals". Sure, as a key forward many of his kicks will be at goal, and if you are happy with his kicking action, then good for you. I assume you watched all or most of his Casey games to support the premise of your VFL vs AFL question. That you are still seeking an answer shows what others think of it. For the record, I've never liked his kicking action, when I watched VFL, at training or now at AFL level. But I'm more interested in what he is currently doing, which is what a coach might spend more time 'pondering'. You've already said you have no idea about his kicking action, that's the topic I have been repeatedly commenting upon because it responds to the op. As I've said before, I hope his kicking action is streamlined at some point in the next 18 mths to continue to improve his effectiveness. No urgency ATM. Love what the guy brings to the club, he looks to have a great future and like all AFL footballers will work hard to improve his game, including kicking. As for you not respecting my position, I'm truly devastated. My last post to you on this.

2015 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Moonshadow replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
WTF? That has North with pick 1, Geelong with 2 and us with 15..... -
Are you for real? You're arguing with yourself sue. I don't GAF if he has nerves or kicked truely at Casey. The thread is about Jessie's kicking action and could it be improved to help him kick more goals in the future for our club. His kicking results don't currently worry me, as he only played 3 games and is just getting used to the game at AFL level, but I'd like to see him improve his action at some point over the next 18 mths. FMD your case is based upon Jessie "certainly" having nerves affecting his kicking and that Kennedy is yet to prove himself with his non stutter run up (10 goals!). Glad your not my lawyer.
-
Could be tacky, but it's currently not an ideal action. Even at Casey I never thought his set shots were technically good. He often doesn't run straight at the goal, his steps are not smooth and he has a tendency to not hold the ball straight, bobs it up and down and it often ends up on a angle. Some may say that he kicked goals at Casey, but if his action was improved he may well produce better results in the future, which is what we all want. Not a biggie ATM, but in time I'm sure it will be improved. Here's an example: http://youtu.be/zhr72eoFo14
-
Must be in contract, otherwise at 29 he'd be a UFA. Not what we need for the cost of a high draft pick. For pick 3-5 I'd expect an emerging star around 22-24 yrs old, eg. Sheil.

Soooooo...... you believe Hogan's technique is fine but he is nervous kicking for goal? Nice try sue, but no. Goal kicking 101 as illustrated by the best right footers to have played as key forwards proves this incorrect. Lockett, Dunstall and Templeton were great examples. As I said, it's not a priority ATM, but will certainly be addressed at some time.My point about Kennedy was that he has changed his mechanical technique to improve the probability of kicking a goal. Seems to me he did pretty well last game, so it appears to be working.
-
In due course his action will be worked on. No doubt about that. Should it be a priority and changed right away? Probably not. Let the kid enjoy the main game and getting used to crashing big bodies, taking big contested marks and kicking a few goals. All good right foot forwards streamline their action to straighten up and KISS. Hogan will do the same in time. Those talking about J Kennedy's stutter obviously haven't watched him of late. It's gone. I just watched some clips with Templeton, Plugger, Dunstall. They are a joy to watch when kicking for goal. Beautiful set shots. As for left footers such as Buddy, well, they are a different species of footballer altogether.

Relax, Sam Frost has got this covered....

Slight sidetrack, but Roos isn't affraid to put forward his views loud and clear on the sub rule... http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/melbourne-demons-coach-paul-roos-urges-afl-to-immediately-axe-sub-rule-20150420-1mozt3.html

BBOs man bun has slipped down and now grows off his back Maple.
-
Classy? You mean you took your year 9 maths class there? Thank god I wasn't invited! I'm ok with my own company and cheap ways, I don't need social reinforcement from 14 year olds. Some example you are to the future of our great country. #muttonbbo

BBO raging in Brunswick St on a Saturday night. Goes to show how mainstream that strip has become. Unless, of course, it turned around from being mainstream and BBO is changing it to the anti-tree change hot spot.
-
I think there is a recent thread on him Ethan. Outside runner, has a bit of leg. If we got him and Prestia and kept our first pick I would be happy.
-
Hope not Gor. Kind of sad that after only 3 games Hogan is acknowledged by the opposition as the no1 forward for us. Speaks poorly for Dawes if so.
-
Ah for the good ol days.... "His hands reached up like giant testicles!"
-
Dawes needs to get him the [censored] away from Hogan. Drag him to the fat wing if he can. That's just about as much as he can do for the team ATM.
