  1. Time to move on. Let's be happy we've got Lumumba. Let it go (and if anything could get the mods to close this thread it would be this schmaltzy piece of disney krap...)
  2. True mo, except we have pretty good knowledge already of what his ability, strengths and weaknesses are from his time on our list, and he's probably still good mates with many of the guys, he'd slip back in smoothly. If he's good enough and in the right frame of mind to go again, I reckon Roos might not leave him in state league for two years. If the answer is yes, I think he'd be rookied next year.
  3. Wonder what Roos views are on this, and Goodwin too, as he'll be the coach from the end of next season. Did they see enough in Dom to persist or will they pass? As our depth improves, competition for spots on our list increases, which is always a good thing. Can he rise to this challenge... How old is Dom now, 22, 23?
  4. Might take more than one, dare I say.
  5. Now you are taking the pizz Biff...
  6. If I could add one more thing, it would be for Jessie to fall head over heels with a lovely woman who has strong ties to the Melbourne (the city) and wouldn't move to Perth ever.
  7. Colin who???
  8. And let's hope the Stretch F/S pick is a winner as well. Interesting to see how the Jake Lovett F/S plays out in the draft order.
  9. Interesting comparison Pantaloons. Good to see that all clubs make some serious drafting errors, not just us.
  10. Cool story about HM Fester, I think the social issues affecting current AFL players are a bit different from the 50's and 60's though. And your last put down comment detracts from the point you make about respect.
  11. DJ, I think you'll find there are zero AFL clubs wanting to sign him just because of the novelty factor. The article is inconclusive as to the likelihood of him changing sports, but if a footy club does sign him, it will be because of talent and potential, not novelty factor. GC and GWS are well past their rugby league experiments and have learnt lessons from them.
  12. Btw, I just found the word 'pyne' online in uban dictionary... "TOP DEFINITION Pyne In Australia, one of the most insulting words you can use. It is an acceptable replacement for most profane or derogatory terms. Derived from education minister Christopher Pyne's name. "Pyne off, you pyneing pynehole." "The Australian government are a pyney useless bunch of pyneing pynes"."
  13. Biff would you still pine for him if he had a tatt that said 'I love mum' or a pic of tweety bird, or maybe a quote from Micky M, eg, "the earth moves slow, but the ox is patient"?
  14. Haven't gone through all of this thread, so forgive me if I'm re going over what's been said. I'm not sure anyone can be certain what was or wasn't said, or that the truth will come out. Certainly the media will massage it beyond recognition. However, IF Burns did refer to Houli as a terrorist, even if he said for a laugh that his beard made him look like a terrorist, he is a fool. I do not believe a conversation had in public within earshot of others is a private conversation. Private means only the recipient/s hear it. It has been reported it was made sitting behind a couple of children, which imo would make him worse than a fool. It's not being PC or do-gooder to out this alleged comment as vilification, it's just the right thing to do. If it was said and overheard, it is vilification and offensive.
  15. Vilification may have elements of both race and religion, they aren't mutually exclusive. As I mentioned earlier, racial and religious vilification can sometimes have blurred boundaries, such as when an Indian is called a Muslim terrorist in the street despite being Hindu. Not saying this is the case with Houli, but it's too simplistic to say racial and religious vilification are separate things.
  16. Racial and religious vilification can have blurred boundaries sometimes. An Indian friend told me he and his brother have been called terrorists/ jihadists/ IS supporters despite being Hindus. Presumably because the bigoted name callers saw only the color of their skin or that they looked 'different'. I don't know the answer to this question, but would Houli have been called a terrorist if he was a clean shaven, pale skinned redhead who also happened to be a Muslim?
  17. Interesting suggestion HH. I too noticed that Harmes was amongst the better players at Casey on the weekend. Wonder if he is on Roos' radar for selection this week. I'm not keen on seeing MJones, Terlich or Bail coming back in, particularly if Bail has had another unfortunate head knock.
  18. Meanwhile, Chris Judd managed to avoid physical contact with an aggressive football fan in Lygon St despite provocation.
  19. Got an email from the club promoting a new line: retro woolen jumper, scarf, beanie and DIY knits. Looks good. No lace up jumper, player cap or 3/4 length shorts though. https://thedemonshop.shopdesq.com/100-australian-wool-retro-guernsey-pre-sale-1
  20. It's our home. The others are only tenants.
  21. Whats you're problem's undie?
  22. Fossil, it was wrong then and it is wrong now. The very fact that Clarko and the Hawks have gone into the 'feared for our safety' line shows that they are mildly concerned about the consequences. He has a number of priors, something that the drunken idiot or his mates probably knew. One fool provokes another fool and gets an overreaction. Fortunately no one was hurt. Probably time to move on.
