  1. I am going to die because of this team one day. They never settle into an understandable, predictable consistency but up and down mountains every match. Fair dinkum I will be a mess in half an hour win or lose.
  2. We are burning it up. How?
  3. I hate being a Melbourne supporter. Couldn't hit the side of a barn for 1 hour, and now we kick multiple in a row.
  4. ALMOST gave up the twice weekly last-ten-seconds goal, AGAIN. Got enough of the footy to be in front but can't convert AGAIN. Dropping marks that hit our hands only AGAIN, only to be outnumbered at ground level at every marking contest AGAIN. Viney, Tyson and Oliver keeping us in it. Jones trying hard but killing us with poor kicking. Lewis looks troubled or in his shell. Can I do this any more? Yes, because knowing us we will get in front from here, then lose in the last 3mins.
  5. Predictable, u15's skills, decision making ala OMac, not one thing going right excepy Viney having a go, and our kicking inside 50 = facepalm.
  6. Ahhh, 10am Gameday. Confident, nervous, reading everything, anxious, ready, not ready, sensing a win, sensing a draw, sensing a flogging, posting on Demonland, groaning at other Demonlander's posts, too much coffee already, already thinking about my first Shiraz, cider or Dalmore 18yo scotch.... , what time is it x 100, constantly checking the pathetic AFL app for updates. Love/hate Gameday.
  7. As long as it is not the same sculptor who presented the Ronaldo sculpture. Did you see that one? Horror of a thing.
  8. I have waited a long time to feel confident again. Well done Membership dept for this great achievement.
  9. I am a Lynden Dunn fan, and was sad to see him move - to the Pies of all teams! However, lookong at the way the Dees team evolved under Roos and how Goodwin now is coaching them to play, I reckon it was a good move for him. He has always played well on a player, but when we win the ball our ball movement and running patterns require repeated running and the ability to switch from attacking setup to defending setup. It looks like this zone type attack/defend play happens too quickly for Dunny and he gets lost in transition. Attacking teams would figure this out and play through his player, making him run and change setup constantly. Oscar is the exact opposite with one extra flaw. His transition running is very, very good. His run and attack to punch the ball away in a marking contest is also really good. But he gets annihilated with a big bodied one-on-one forward, and his short sharp in-close decision making is atrocious. Body size and body maturity will fix the first, experience will (hopefully) fix the latter. I can see why they persevere with him in place of Dunny, but the game-by-game learning process can be gut wrenching to watch.
  10. Although we do sing his praises today, and I like what he brings, his track record does demonstrate runs of games where he has little or no affect. For me, his effort, two way running etc... without picking up lots of possessions suggests he does a lot of team stuff that doesn't translate into noticeable things. My basic appreciation of him is as a swingman and I think we need him in the 22 until a swingman is no longer needed. Even then, a place for him should be considered.
  11. In the AFL.com article today Pedo said "I play every game as if it's my last". My admiration for him just went up a notch. Looking long term, if Gawn, Watts, and Hogan are in the 22 do we fit Pedo in? I would say yes. On the bench play 3 mids and Pedo can be the big man relief, rotating with Watts, Hogan, Gawn and even Frost or TMac. Thoughts?
  12. How did we ever lose to the Cats? That loss continues te really tick me off.
  13. He has had a fumbly month. He has a huge upside but often fumbles when pickong the ball up in traffic, unlike Oliver whose hands are amazing. But he makes you watch him - a real crowd magnet.
  14. Some definite flaws and errors but a great TEAM win. But boy, when we play our game it is bloody good to watch. Huge 3rd quarter from Viney, great intensity over the ground and some real excitement from our forwards. And the Bummers are really poor. Bog ordinary. And personally despising the Bummers I am even happier.
  15. Huge effort from Pedo. We needed his workrate so much. Ovef the past 5 weeks we have had one quarter in which we have been annihilated due to poor work rate. His ruckwork, two way running and 2nd/3rd efforts today were a great example of how to stay in a game. Loved it.
  16. You know Mono, that just about sums up gameday for a Dees supporter. One of the best posts of the year so far. Gold.
  17. Agree about Swallow. He might not be in career best form but he has been far from their worst, and not the one to blame for many of their losses. Chris Scott has a terrible record when it comes to managing his older players and leaders.
  18. Loving the Hawks struggling; may it continue for 3 decades! Sydney will be ok, but the downturn could take 2 years to turn the full circle. Their young players are very very good. Nick Reiwoldt is one of the true living legend champions of our game. Up there with Flower, Skilton, 2 x Abletts , and others. He is still doing all the repeat effort, gut running, pack crashing and game changing that he was doing early 2000s. His body will be absolutely stuffed when he is 40 and no flag but you havd to admire him.
  19. Spent about 20 mins talking to him before he was delisted, just after some shoulder surgery, about 6-7 years ago. I was impressed then and he has remained one of my favourites. And it really annoys me when he is referred to as a battler, or hard worker etc... because it undervalues him. He has genuine evasive skill, wins one-on-ones regularly, is a strong mark, and an outstanding club man. Well done, Nev, now for the next 100.
  20. The app today showing the 2016 season, and unable to find out what is happening in any game except last night's GWS V Doggies game. Continues to be a joke of a product.
  21. After being really deflated immediately after the game, I have a cooler head this morning. I understand that the rotations limited by injury really killed us and fatigue set in. In some ways I feel quite proud of the team in the face of such exhaustion. But that is only one factor in an emerging group of concerning trends. We lose games we are dominating by conceding 4-5 unanswered goals. Our leaders go into their shells during these crucial times and we see young guns like Oliver, Hunt, Petracca, etc... having to try and turn the game. This is a huge concern. Our handballing and kicking under pressure is seriously appalling. Again, mainly from our senior players. How many times last night did Jones, Vince, Viney stuff it up through a bad choice under pressure. Have a look at Cotchen under pressure - now THAT is composure. Hogan is really beginning to worry me. A huge presence on the field and we are beter with him. His marking and contested ball impact can be amazing. But he is very lazy, sooks, and is oftenjoggin around. So I am asking a tough question: do we have the right leaders? I am a massive Jones fans and he rates in my favourite MFC footballers of all time, but the leadership of him, Viney and TMac is dysfunctional at best, when the chips are down. Great for 3 quarters when we are front runners, but ineffective an error ridden when the game is on the line.
  22. Leadership. Lack of composure. Blind kicks and handballs. Stoppage set up nightmare in last quarter. Really p**sed off about this one.
  23. Every game this year we have only played 3 quarters. And conceded 5+ goals in the poor quarter. Coaching or players?
  24. Looking cooked. Leadership required.
  25. Jones' kicking - just horrible.
