  1. What an unusual thread, well researched and backed up by indisputable facts. The OP would have started at the 2019 National draft Melbourne pick 3 Jackson (6 games) pick 12 Pickett (14) pick 27 Rivers (9) Bulldogs pick 15 Weightman (3 games) pick 53 Butler (2) pick 62 Garcia (0) 2018 National Draft. Melbourne pick 27 Sparrow (7 games) pick 33 Jordon (0) pick 53 Nietsche (0) pick 56 Hore (14) Pick 75 Bedford (2) Bulldogs Pick 26 West (7) Pick 37 Vandermeer (13) Pick 45 Cararra (3) Pick 78 Hayes (11) Of the players drafted in the National Draft over 2019 and 2020 Melbourne have 5 playing today. Bulldogs had 2 last night. Perhaps I misunderstood the initial point.
  2. Well, certainly not Collingwood who signed a 26 year old ruckman for 7 years last year. Given that Gawn was almost certainly signed for less than the reported million dollar a year deal that Grundy signed for, I think that MFC has rewarded their skipper appropriately and set up part of hopefully a stable midfield group into the future.
  3. This was mine for years until the VCR finally tore up the tape. Now i go to the Melbourne Geelong Elimination Final and if i just need a quick lift I just search for Hannan running in for the sealing goal
  4. I think we already have enough GWS players.
  5. James Jordon is still only 19. I had great hopes of him this year but like so many kids and fringe players it was virtually impossible to put their names forward. Hopefully next year!!!
  6. If we hadn't traded to gain pick 3 in his draft, Oliver would now be playing for Essendon. He would then have some real reason to whinge.
  7. Shout out to the Dees fans at the ground. great noise and excellent boos at the right time
  8. got rid of the man bun - tick
  9. Did somebody on Demonland suggest Spargo shouldn’t get a game?
  10. That will teach Goodwin that Melbourne can’t complain about the umpires
  11. He does have 3 number 1 draft picks
  12. Thank goodness for May being steady and reliable and for Hibbards first half, otherwise we would not have been within 15 goals as I read this
  13. I suppose the bummers did this because they were scared to play Melbourne
  14. I always felt that Gutnik and Brian Dixon never received the appropriate gratitude of the club or fans for being the faces that opposed the merger. Were it not for them, there would have been no club at all when the Hawks voted against the merge as there would have been no spirit to continue. Both were eventually shafted by the club for good or bad reasons but that is another story. And as you may guess, I was one of those who was vehemently opposed to the merger. I was also one of those who did not fit into Dallas Brooks Hall to my great anger.
  15. Henry Coles could play a bit. He must be close to the bravest footballer in the world. About his last game he apparently had a punch up with Carl Ditterich in the changing rooms. He was pretty feisty on the field but one would think lucky to survive a stand up with Carl
  16. After such a perfect preseason, I am desperate to have some yardstick. If they manage four rounds, that will possibly partly satisfy me and while i am doing nothing due to the pandemic, will give me four successful replays to keep watching. Mind you, if we lose .............. (and i must admit, I am of the view that some degree of continuity of life as we knew it can only be a good thing)
  17. Given he only had 9 kicks, it is possible you might have
  18. Was that the finishing order and if so has OMac previously done that well?
  19. Touch unkind
  20. Just been waiting for my coffee in Horsham and fell into conversation with the happy indigenous gent beside me in a MFC tee shirt. He turned out to be the very proud father of Kysaiah having a pit stop on the way back to SA. He wasn’t afraid to talk the boy up. Said he has a fantastic attitude. anyway I left him talking to Frank Giampolo (ex MFC footballer). Really looking forward to seeing this kid play
  21. I thought God went back to Geelong
  22. Cook was 2010 and Gysbets was 2009. You are going to have to let them go as prime examples at some point.
  23. The fact there were so many easy shots at on the night goal suggests that the ball was being used and delivered into the 50 reasonably well. The simple fact is that too many were missed
  24. When Tim Smith went off it feed up McGovern to do what he wanted I thought he did a solid job all night.
