  1. It is a long time since we won more than 9 in a row. We did 9 last year and counting the North Melbourne game, 8 in a row. Carlton stopped a chance at 10
  2. Flower of course should have won at least 6
  3. I think he got a tattoo after the GF. Doesnt that make him a permenant Dee?
  4. Tomorrow is my birthday. I am going to give myself a real treat. I am going to watch the whole of the 2021 Grand Final
  5. Shane Zantuck was also a former North player although he may have spent some time at Swans on the way. Each of the players you named were/are favourites of mine (although it has taken me about 3/4 of a season to warm to BBB)
  6. Having read Captains Diary since Christmas, I am certain when Gawn's great classic book is properly and understandably made a compulsary text for VCE English students this next year, WJ's treatise will undoubtedly prove a great student resourse.
  7. I have been checking out the size and shape of presents under the tree and I think I may have done the right thing by waiting for today instead of buying it.
  8. You took the premiership cup into the urinal?
  9. Post date it to include the Grand Final and Bont can do a couple of weeks
  10. next street. Nice touch among the red bows
  11. It doesnt seem an outrageous draw for the premiers. Against teams in the 8 in 2020 when they won the premiership, Richmond this year were given two games against Brisbane, Saints and Geelong. They also played Port and West Coast away. Amongst the other teams they played the Giants twice and Freo and Suns away. (they lost to both Freo and Suns) I dont see ours as being a harder draw than that.
  12. many thanks for this brilliant resource. I think you may alter Tom Sparrow's age on completion of his contract. He turns 22 in May next year.
  13. As a club that has a comparably small membership, we are currently in a wonderful position to encourage new members. With a premiership, Gawn, Petracca, Oliver and Pickett just about all tastes and dreams are covered. Of all those I think Kozzie is just about the most likely to lock kids on for life, in the same way Farmer did 25 or so years ago.
  14. I can recommend a rest watching the Brisbane or Geelong finals or round 23
  15. I just had a look out of interest and i doubt whether has been a better draft year for Melbourne than 2014 From the players drafted in 2014 we now have Petracca (2) Brayshaw (3) Lever (14) Neal-Bullen (40) and Langdon (54). Even the two Melbourne players no longer with us had serviceable careers Stretch (42) 47 games, and Oscar McDonald (53) 82 games including 1 for Carlton. There are only 37 players drafted that year still on AFL lists. Only 16 have played 100 games.
  16. Forgive me Demonlanders for i have also sinned. Many years ago i was heard to mutter: "The only good thing Max Gawn will ever do for this club was to puke on Tom Scully" I think i got it wrong.
  17. I take it Robbo is now of the view that the swap of pick 2 (Josh Kelly - 34 on list) for Tyson and Salem (27 on list) is now determined in Melbournes favour.
  18. It has been telling to hear from a number of players over the past week or so attribute their season in part to conversations with Goodwin. They include Oliver, McDonald and May (via Hibberd). May and T Mac have had terrific seasons but just imagine if we had lost Oliver.
  19. Just checked on their record against top 8 teams this year. It was one win and 9 losses. The one win was against Essendon in May. The only thing that can be said in their favour is that they had a pretty hard draw as it transpired. I think only Melbourne (8 - 2) and perhaps one other team played that many top 8 teams. I am not convinced about them
  20. I really enjoy coming to this thread occassionally for entertainment to help me last through until next Saturday. In previous years I would have been visiting 2 - 3 times a day to find the next magic selection that is going to propel the Dees to the Grand Final. For once the banter rather than the information is most appreciated. Keep it coming
  21. There are clearly two households a couple of streets from my house. They were decked out with scarves and balloons on Saturday. I believe it is a permissible breach of curfew laws to sneak around and pop the white balloons.
  22. Thanks for that hint. I have just spent a very happy half hour trawling through some of the pre-draft comments. I can say however well done to Mach5 and Wells 11 who were among the early supporters.
  23. I think you will find the AFL can take votes off Miller. He is ineligible having been suspended earlier in the season.
  24. Stuart Dew came back from a year out of the game and i would think numerous hamburgers, moved to Hawthorn and won a premiership. *Aged 29 when he mmoved to Hawthorn
