That's one game in a season filled with multiple terrible performances by the majority of our players. If you're going to base your argument on one game, I will as well: Round 5 vs. St Kilda.

Your incredibly clever response makes me afraid to debate this topic with you for fear of further humiliation.

There's always one....

3 in a row, all under different coaches (Bailey, Viney, Neeld). He's doing something right.

Judd steps down from Captaincy AND Leadership group...
Good Times Grimes replied to hardtack's topic in Melbourne Demons
I see Judd as similar to Neitz in a way. He is a very good player in a team lacking a sufficient number of other leaders. My guess is that he and Malthouse decided it was best for him to step away from the leadership role in order for other players to develop into leaders; otherwise, they could end up like Melbourne has since Neitz retired. -
New Zealand has some pretty high mountains as well, and is 16+ hours flight closer to Melbourne than Colorado. Japan is closer and has some big ones too. Heading to the USA for this sort of stuff is overrated, IMO.

DId you let the club know about your bad experience? I'm sure they'd like to hear about it so they can ensure it doesn't happen in the future.

You're just upset because Jamie Bennell didn't get put on the banner.

I suspect that the changes we have made during the offseason will inspire approximately 30k to buy a membership. If we start the season strongly, that number could see a significant boost and we could even reach 40k, but I think ~35k will be the total for 2013.

Great job! I really appreciate all the hard work that you and the other admins put into this site. Now we've just gotta get Jack Viney and Mitch Clark onto the banner!

Training - Monday 3rd December, 2012 @ Casey Fields
Good Times Grimes replied to The Oracle's topic in Melbourne Demons
Hopefully Leigh Brown can teach him a thing or two. They're the same height (if Wikipedia is correct), and I presume that Neeld has a similar role in mind for him as to that of Brown at Collingwood. -
Good article on the team site : Camp will be one of the toughest: Misson Misson says it will be one of the toughest programs he's been involved in.

Were you one of the ones calling for us to pick up Fevola last season?

I think all the crocs in Kakadu cleared out of there when they heard that Jack Viney was coming.

Think about the background he came from. Then to work as hard as he did not only to learn the sport and get a game at the highest level, but also to revolutionize the role of the ruckman. He was Melbourne's best player in a losing Grand Final effort in '88. He won the game's highest individual honour after having only picked up a football seven years earlier. He played 244 consecutive games, despite having his fair share of injuries. He made the MFC's Team of the Century, and won four club B&Fs. That qualifies him as a champion of the game in my books.

This is more of a David Neitz thread than a Jack Trengove thread... so, in order to not disrupt the conversation I'll stay "on topic": David Neitz was an MFC champion. He was an All-Australian at both ends of the ground, a Coleman Medal winner, the MFC games AND goals record holder, and he captained us to many finals and even a Grand Final. Despite this resume, however, he is not a champion of the game. As great as he was, I could name 10 FFs off the top of my head who I would put ahead of Neita. I loved watching him play, and he will remain an MFC icon forever, but to me he is no more than that. Jimmy Stynes, on the other hand, was a great of the game. I don't see how anybody could say otherwise.

A change of heart ? Have the odds changed for you
Good Times Grimes replied to beelzebub's topic in Melbourne Demons
I've fallen into this trap the last few years... not so sure I want to go down the "Optimistic path" again. I'll wait and see how we go in the first few weeks of 2013 before I develop any expectations. -
Like me, obviously, I think that you have probably certainly been watching too many interviews with footballers, obviously.

You misspelled "God".

Updated. I'll continue to do so as new spellings of players' names emerge.

Regardless of when it was posted, common sense should dictate that it is moronic to post such things if you're hoping to be drafted. Good for him if he says he's trying, but I don't want someone like him at the MFC, and I'd bet everything that I've got that Neeld & Co don't want him either.

Thought GWS or GC might be interested in a mature body. Also heard rumours a while back about the Dogs possibly giving Bate a rookie spot.
