  1. I was a massive fan of Dawes at Collingwood and more so now that he is with us. He always impressed with contributions that don't make the stat sheet. Rarely loses a contest - halves them at worst. He works incredibly hard working up the ground and back and always tries to take front spot. He spoils, he blocks, he chases, he harrasses. The only knock on him for me is his injuries and if he can stay fit we have got us a really smart blue collar worker at CHF.
  2. one zillion likes
  3. It's actually a little sad. We can endlessly debate whether we think Dunne is or isnt a footballer and agree to to disagree - each to their own in my view. But to hold views such as those being espoused on this subject makes me feel that our education system ( or "The message" ) is failing and we haven't progressed one iota from the dark ages.
  4. The MFC have got bucketloads wrong over the journey. They have got this one right.
  5. Stats and more stats - it only matters where you turn it over and what happens to your structure when you do turn it over. So many of todays turnovers are caused by the extra man back and trying to kick over the zone and failing. The ball is turned over and comes back but you do have extras back and you get to watch "ping pong". Our turnovers are under little pressure and are about not hitting an easy target - our players have peeled off expecting forward movement and we just get carved up on the rebound.
  6. He is not in the team because of his disposal.
  7. Warnock is 17 zillion feet tall ! As badly beaten as Spencer was in the ruck last week unfortunately he will stay until we can get another ruckman in ( or he improves dramatically - one lives in hope)
  8. My problem with angrydemons stance is he seems to think that mental illness fits neatly into a package and that it affects all people the same way, that it runs to a timetable and is something that can solved by "sucking it up and stop being such a nancy". The other issue I have is that because one has lots of money they shouldn't be afflicted by these problems or at least have the resources to just make it go away.
  9. I think Graeme Osborne held the distinction of sitting on the bench for 12798 games in a row. When he retired he was fresh as a daisy.
  10. You only have to say boo to Bryce Gibbs and he is in the third row of the crowd
  11. Unfortunately calling someone a troll implies that the person putting forward views knows the very insidious nature of the views being espoused but puts them forward knowing they will inflame the debate. I don't think that this is a case of trolling.
  12. I really have got to stop quoting GoT - getting me into awkward spots. Someone came up with an interesting idea in our management meeting and I disagreed with him by saying " you know nothing Jon Snow" - yes...awkward.
  13. you know nothing Deez....
  14. Not sure that you can actually "Schedule" clinical depression.
  15. I have to go on Saturday afternoon to a reunion of all my girlfriends relatives and extended family. I never thought you'd ever hear these words uttered from my mouth - I am looking forward to it because it is a legitimate excuse not to go see us play. edit - on reflection, we can still stink it up a lot more before the reunion will be more appealing.
  16. And the other half the other team put in to replace their injured half play half as well as they should play ( for both halves if possible)
  17. We are pretty short sighted. Have a look at other clubs injury list - this year we have been no better or no worse off than a lot of other clubs. Our problem is not that we have injuries. Our problem is that if we get injuries to a few of our better players ( what we consider better players) - Garland, Hogan, Clark, Dawes - our talent pool is so shallow that we don't have the depth to cover it. The Hawks had Sewell, Mitchell, Hodge and Lake all out the week before last but they have so many other got footballers that they had them covered.
  18. All the best with your recovery Mitch.
  19. I am not convinced that they have all been wrong - I think we have taken young talent and put them into our cesspool of a club and just expected them to thrive.
  20. Tells you something about our organisation - Hawks/Swans/Cats have coaches that would have done that - demanded and instilled the attitude of excelling. But not only the coaches. Young players need a good core of older players who are talented on the field, that are disciplined off the field and on the training track - someone to emulate. They need good strong leaders - we have been bereft in this area.
  21. This is what has me completely stumped. Over the last 10 years who has risen above being a "B" grader - have we got every draft single draft pick wrong ??? I agree with you - maybe we have picked the wrong players but it must be the club they have come into ( culturally) and how we have educated and developed them in equal measure.
