  1. Has never kicked more than 8 goals in a season. He’s got one in each game so far.
  2. Hopefully we’ve prepared for this game the same way we did against GC last year - by spending 12 hours trapped on a plane. We haven’t dropped a game since that fateful day on the tarmac.
  3. So he's nearly six months old and still hasn't seen a Melbourne premiership? Poor kid - I can't begin to imagine what that must feel like.
  4. How come the commentators aren’t using the proper names for the ground, such as the ‘Petracca pocket’, and the ‘bang bang bang end’?
  5. I think it's because last night was our first opportunity to express the joy of the flag in full voice under match conditions. A chance to finally release all that pent up emotion from having to view the 2021 campaign on a TV screen. Every goal and bit of good play was all the more enjoyable in the knowledge that we're reigning premiers, and I felt like I was cheering and celebrating last year's success as much as what was happening last night.
  6. Freed from Desire?
  7. Jonesy moving into media street this season with gigs on SEN and channel 7, according to the little paper. SEN is set to unveil former Melbourne captain Nathan Jones as its big-name recruit. Jones, who has dabbled in radio previously with RSN, will be the main voice of Friday night football for SEN. He is also set to feature in the commentary box for Channel 7 at various times throughout the season. Jones will balance his media commitments with a new career in property development. A much-loved figure at the Demons, the 34-year-old was the hard luck story of Melbourne’s premiership win. He didn’t feature in the senior line-up after round 15 and missed the Grand Final after leaving Perth to be at the birth of his twins. Jones, who was captain of Melbourne from 2014 to 2019, won three consecutive best and fairests (2012-2014) and became just the second Demon to play over 300 games. He announced his retirement after 302 games in the lead-up to last year’s grand final. There will be some tweaks in SEN’s football coverage with AFLW star Daisy Pearce and Hawthorn premiership star Jordan Lewis set to scale back their radio commitments.
  8. On the back of last night's embarrassing performance, I've emailed the club and asked them to take my name off the flag.
  9. My understanding of that message is that it was a reference to level 2 memberships - ie redlegs, tridents and legends - being sold out, not anything to do with round 1 ticketing.
  10. I hope Goody congratulated and thanked the doctor in a jovial manner when he found out!
  11. Fox made a big mistake letting her go - she’s a great presenter and always across her brief. No surprise that she’s fronting tournaments and events all over the world.
  12. You've obviously never been teased by a Sydney supporter over the fact that we haven't beaten them on a Sunday at the MCG since 2001. My non-MFC mates rib me about that one all the time, and they're not going to stop regardless of how many flags we win.
  13. I’ve never even heard of Geelong, so I did a bit of research.
  14. I was there earlier in the week and they were swamped by boxes of fresh stock, and were sending everything out Express Post, which is why so many of us have received Christmas Eve packages. Kinda made it worth the wait. Can confirm that the guernsey is sensational as is the New Balance t-shirt - finally some quality premiership apparel that will last longer than 1 wash.
  15. Well done to the club on the whole Cup Tour and for making it so accessible to us plebs. In all my years of dreaming about a flag, I never imagined that we'd get our hands on the actual silverware. Thanks MFC!
  16. Are you sure that all the games are in blu-ray, and not just the GF? All of the sets I’ve seen going around - both the Victory pack and the season collection - are in DVD format except for the GF.
  17. They're happy to exchange but they won't necessarily have the navy in the correct size. They didn't for me. Apparently the same thing happened with some of the Mark Knight hoodies. The Mark Knight I've got is navy, but the wrong size, and when I asked about swapping it, she said they've only got it in the black in that size. Pretty annoying. Still waiting for the guernsey and the white New Balance t-shirt, and happy with the scarf and beanie, but otherwise underwhelmed by the premiership apparel, and will be happy to swap the 2 hoodies for some proper New Balance 2022 gear when it becomes available. The Mark Knight hoodie is pretty poor quality.
  18. Not sure if others have had the same problem but my Premiers hoodie arrived today and it's black, not navy as per the picture. Spoke to the club and they're aware of the issue. Apparently some of the jumper orders came back in a traditional navy, while others were in a darker 'ink blue' colour or something. Whatever it's called, it's not blue in any way, either close up or from a distance. It looks like an Essendon jumper. Will be swapping for something else.
  19. It needs to be done the other way around - the footy needs to be scheduled to fit into existing events and festivals which are already established and a part of the tourism circuit. Around Alice and the centre you have the spectacular Parrtjima Festival, which is in April next year. For Darwin games it needs to be later in the season, in July-August, when the Garma Festival, the Indigenous Music Awards and the Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair are all grouped together for the purpose of attracting visitors to multiple events. Then the clubs and AFL can look at offering package deals where you can mix and match for the itinerary you want. Unfortunately, as @Jaded No Morepoints out, travelling the NT can be wickedly expensive.
  20. Thanks. Just to clarify, it’s generally a breach of copyright to post entire articles, or even large slabs of articles. There are exceptions to this under what are known as ‘fair dealings’ provisions in the relevant legislation. One of these exceptions is for parody or satire - I’m sure plenty here could make an argument that Jon Ralph’s writing falls under such a category. Small excerpts are also OK, and because this particular article is very long, it’s fine to publish the Melbourne snippet, which is: Every single member of the Demons’ flag team will go around again. And Sam Weideman, Adam Tomlinson and Jayden Hunt will move heaven and earth to be part of the fun this time around. Players with significant upside from that brilliant drought-breaking team: Luke Jackson, Kysaiah Pickett, Tom Sparrow, Trent Rivers, Harrison Petty, Bayley Fritsch, Jake Bowey, James Jordon, Charlie Spargo. Add the freaks: five-goal prelim final hero Max Gawn, Norm Smith medallist Christian Petracca, All-Australian defenders Jake Lever and Steven May, Brownlow Medallist-in-waiting Clayton Oliver. If the Demons don’t win another flag in the next three years something has gone seriously wrong. Early prediction: If Luke Jackson isn’t re-signed by June, West Coast will be offering him $7 million over six years as the franchise target of their rebuild for 2023 and beyond.
  21. Your moustache hasn't changed a bit, Deegirl !
  22. Article in the HS said that he’s decided to focus on his career rather than chase a spot at another AFL club.
  23. The wording’s a bit ambiguous but I think you’re right.
  24. Thank you. Am I right that this is the only product out there at the moment where EVERYTHING is in HD?
