I spat the dummy then. We should've had at least 3-4 more goals that quarter, I reckon we would've had more inside 50s but they converted when we didn't, that last exchange being a great example.

GO FOR GOAL TOUMPAS!!!!!!
-
I hate being a Melbourne fan right now.
-
How was that not a mark to Gawn!?
-
We've been peppering the goals but missing, they go up the other end once and get a goal. That hurts.
-
The last 3 goals to GWShave been ridiculously soft. Defenders, KEEP YOUR FEET!!!
-
4 quarters Watts.

Turnovers, turnovers, turnovers!!!! Twice we have been moving forward and we cough it up in basic circumstances.
-
That was a good mark to Pederson, but only he could ruin it that badly.

I think Craig realistically doesn't see himself coaching us next year, and we will not be sacking him as that would just make us more of a laughing stock (is it possible??). I also think the players have responded to him to a degree. You mentioned Cam Pederson playing but mention that we don't reward those with good VFL form. Well Pedders had consistently good VFL form before he got picked, and I can understand the reasoning of leaving him in to give him another chance to prove himself. I agree there are players at Casey that should get a run before the years out, but why not play him, especially given we've lost a tall him Chip.

Massive amount of pride on the line for us here. GWS don't really have too much to loose, if they loose then everyone shrugs their shoulders and say they'll be good in a few years, they win and they're smelling of roses. BUT despite what Craig has said I reckon he will be drilling the players big time for this game and I really hope the boys are up for a fight because the Giants will be.

Peter Jackson said it on OTC last night, we have relied on getting high draft picks and these players just realising their talent rather than developing them properly. Toumpas is a great talent, you've got to have blinkers on not to see it, but he is not someone that will just get there because he's that good, we must make sure that he works his butt off and really wants to get there. His game vs Lions shows that he has a long way to go, but I felt he responded relatively well vs the Kangas (in the grand scheme of things). He's got plenty of potential, and I really think he and Viney can become a lethal combo.

Peter Jackson - On The Couch Monday 29th July, 2013
Pates replied to Demon3's topic in Melbourne Demons
So I'm definitely in the camp that is impressed with PJ. The important thing for me is that he doesn't bullish!t and he's under no illusions as to how difficult this job is, and he isn't try to fill us with delusions that its a quick fix. I'm also happy with all his thoughts regarding the coaching situation, and the fact that he's been around long enough to make meaningful connections within the industry. He also doesn't take a backward step against reporters. -
That's the question though, if there's something out here worth pursuing for pick 2 then I say go for it but who?

The 2000 premiership - awarded to us retrospectively?
Pates replied to What's topic in Melbourne Demons
Wouldn't want it, if it did happen (which it won't) it'd be like the Storm situation and the premierships would just be void for those years. -
The "Please re-sign Jack Watts thread"
Pates replied to Bring-Back-Powell's topic in Melbourne Demons
I agree, he's playing very well but he's still got some way to go before he's a gun. We pay what we think is fair, I would comfortable with a 4 year contract if that's a sticking point but my thoughts are he's going to wait and back himself to play some more good footy to justify higher $$$$. Having said that I really think that Watts wants to stay, he's always the first person to chat to kids and speak to fans. -
Eade or Williams is still my preference, and I'd also probably have Craig marginally ahead of him. But he did some very good things at an underfunded and under-rescourced club but with that thought pattern Neale Daniher should be in consideration.
-
He's playing some good football now, lets be honest we haven't had much of that from him. I want to see him continue playing good football in Red and blue. Re-sign Watts, repay our patience.
-
In a difficult year he's been a positive. Plenty more for him to work on but I'm glad to see he's committed to the club.

I remembered hearing Richo talk about his injury which was aparently the same as MC. He spoke about how the doctors and he made a decision to take the screws out before proceeding with getting him to play again. Is this something that is common? From what it sounds like removing them was inevitability with Mitch, but I guess the doctors and physio's can only go on what Mitch is saying and how it looks.
-
It's the Steve Johnson influence IMO, he does these sort of set shots all the time. The Bartel shot was tight, but the Harry Taylor one was ridiculous, he's meant to be a good set shot so why wouldn't he do a drop punt?
-
I'm trying to stay positive with his injury, I can't help but think we made a mistake bringing him back before taking his screw out. Hopefully they can manage this and get it right.
-
Well the markets closed on most improved player at our B&F, 4 goal effort in these conditions, to get injured and continue on, and his 4th goal came at critical time (shame we couldn't go on with it). I keep asking the question where he will fit in for the future, but for now I'm just enjoying watching him playing well and clearly enjoying his time out there.
-
I gave up on Trengove becoming a gamebreaker last year, I see him being able to hold a spot as a contributer but he just does not seem to have the attributes he first had when he came to the club. They had a fair go today, but lacked the patience and poise when needed. When we needed goals, we just seemed to miss them. Some good signs there but I really thought we could get the win tonight.

I'm sick of this Toumpas bashing. He's having a shocker, so lets have him hung, drawn, and quartered FFS. He'll get subbed out and should be given a week at Casey. A disgrace? No. The disgrace is that we need him to do the job of a senior player. Someone needs to stand up in the midfield, because with Jones being tagged out (again) we have nothing through he middle except for Viney playing the role of kamikaze.
