Not surprised but bitterly disappointed. And how insulting to a player suggesting he could spin out of the way in a split second decision. No player in the history has ever pirouetted to avoid contact, every player is in fact taught to ride the bumps. You look at it in slow motion and the reaction is quick. He slows and braces, he does not move towards the player to bump. Gerard Whately made a great point, how can the tribunal rule in such a way that is contradictory to the rest of the competitions opinions? Is there any risk with appealing the decision? If not I would really like us to appeal and defend our player to the hilt. This is such a BS decision.

Figures, I remember the first one (with the umpires inexplicably in pink) was an absolute shocker of a night. I think this game can actually be built into something between us and the doggies if they give it a chance. I don't think I'll be able to go unfortunately as I'm having some surgery on Friday. But who knows, I could come good!

I found it particularly interesting that it was the two non footy people on FC (Caro and Barrett) that thought he should go. Don't know Carey gets 5 weeks from, that sort of a ban is when someone has maliciously and deliberately acted with the intent (and result) to cause harm. Jack protected himself in the .02 seconds he had to react.

Well A) very happy, but hardly surprised, to hear that we'll be fighting this one. Roos definitely didn't want to give much away but clearly we reckon we can defend this one. B) it was heartening to hear that all opinions are leading towards our favour, apart from Healey initially thinking Viney was in trouble and recanting pretty much everyone agrees that Jack had no better alternatives.

The MRP really know how to take the gloss off such an awesome win. Will be very interesting to hear what Roos has to say tonight on 360.

Looking at the footage what I've got to love is the fact that Dunstall when talking about it speaks about how the MRP is trying to eliminate the head high clashes and he says, "but nothings going to happen here, that was just a good old fashioned head clash". And yet this is going straight to the tribunal. You look at the footage and you clearly see Viney's eyes for the ball running after it. By the time he drops in eyes to see the oncoming collision it's too late, what the tribunal has to consider is what were his options. Of course I'm biased but i can't see many. His body wasn't in the right position to try to tackle and if he had he probably could've broken is ribs in the collision. He was bracing himself for the contact and in fact slowed himself up.

Cross wasn't great but he was far from poor. He's probably top 3 in our B&F. EDIT: Changes After such a great win you'd think we'd have minimal changes. Garland is best 22 so someone needs to make way for him and unfortunately I'd say it'll be Georgio or Terlich. Viney's bump should be cleared if common sense prevails but it's the MRP so you just don't know, if he gets a week maybe Riley gets his shot as a sub. Salem surely has to start.

Far and away Jetta's best game. Gave Betts a bath, which I loved! Funny how last week many people were calling for him to be asked and never in the squad again. This is the difference between Roos and Neeld, Roos backs players in and gives them confidence that they can do the job. There's something particularly satisfying about seeing someone who's struggled through his career smash a player that the media adore.
-
I'd say it's all of the above, there's no doubt the players aren't giving up on contests as much as they used to but we've had some luck with some poor basic kicking for goal with set shots. It's amazing how much pressure from teammates missing can put on others, it really takes someone who can handle to pressure to break the cycle. The way we're going we're going to have the most behinds scored against us at the end of the year.
-
I can only imagine we ran out of interchanges, which if so was a potentially costly mistake. Cam's doing a good job in his role, and as many have said on here, Roos is all about role players in a team.
-
FWIW just about every commentator and reporter is saying it was nothing more than an accident. I don't have any faith in the MRP though.
-
Fair call, until a few years ago I wasn't sure he was going to be anything better than a good average player. It's a shame it takes your teammates around you to be worth anything before you start getting rated. Unless you're Gary Ablett of course.

The official I love Dom Tyson thread
Pates replied to JackVineyForPresident's topic in Melbourne Demons
He's going to be on FC this week, I hope Lyon calls him on it because it was such a short sighted simplistic view he put forward with that trade. Did not actually open his eyes to the bigger picture, just wanted to create more controversy about Melbourne. -
For anyone else that's a Liverpool fan; to quote Steven Gerrard, "we go again". This week's gone, we have to back it up next week.

That goal at the end was class, and a real clutch moment as well. Love the kid, we have done VERY well out of that deal throwing Salem in as well. -
It's an interesting perspective. Although I think putting him into the forward line has rejuvenated him and little, your point about taking him out of the equation into the future for the defence has merit.

Best win since the final vs st Kilda so many years ago. What to say about it? So much spirit, sensational first half, a few of the new recruits stamped themselves on the game whilst a few battlers just did their job. Meanwhile Dawes was the best I've seen at the club, inspirational and justified his elevation to the leadership group. But today was the day we TOOK our opportunities whilst our opponents squandered them. JKH should get a rising star nod for his efforts.
-
Nothing in it, should be fine. So he'll get 3 weeks.
-
Pre-game my hope was that were in the game at 3qtr time. Now I'll be absolutely gutted if we can't finish this off. They are a man down on the bench and we have the breeze at our backs. They have to increase their workrate, it just dropped off that quarter although the tackling and pressure was still there. C'mon Dees it's there for the taking!!!!
-
What he has going for him IMO is that he had not other choice. Neither player had the ball so he couldn't tackle and he was more bracing for contact than bumping. But of course with the MRP you have no idea which way they'll go. JKH is playing really well, just needs to work on his finishing a bit. Considering the low output of Nate Nones the midfield is doing fantastic, Tyson, Vince, Cross, Bail, and Viney all doing a great job. In fact Jonesy needs to try not to get himself in trouble with tackles, gave away some silly frees. Massive third quarter, if the crows get a run on you'd back them to bring home the bacon.
-
Well that just happened! Great first half, and what was most pleasing was when the tide changed the players held their nerve, stuck to their tasks and stemmed the flow. Everyone is contributing.
-
What is going on with the 15m rule?!
-
Shame JKH couldn't sink that (relatively) easy goal but still what a quarter. That's got to be our best opening quarter in Adelaide in over a decade! Everyone is working really hard, the trick will be whether they can keep it up for the whole game.
-
I'm dissapointed to see Salem as the sub but I understand the theory and the idea of easing the young players into the vigours of senior football. Less responsibility and more of an opportunity for him to just play the game. Hawks by 145.....wow, just wow. They are the standard.

Well the way that the article read of the website if we didn't have Hogan to place on the LT injury list Georgio would go back to being a rookie. That seems really stupid, regardless of whether he's retired or injuried we are now down a player and we should be allowed to make a rookie available on our list.
