Yeah i doubt it, one has won about 10 premierships and is in the AFL team of the century, ALL TIME GREAT Not to take away form Viney, but he would just add to the MFC boys club mentality, we need a serious shake up from outside of the MFC, someone who inspires and demands respect LM would do this, as would MM

If Ross commits and then the Dogs and Adelaide appoint Coaches before us i will be reasonably confident something is on the burner... Cant get much worse from that point anyway..... we will have the market to ourselves haha *winning*
-
I dont get whats so complicated, as stated early in the thread it is simply playing on "generation X or Y or Z" But your teams nickname is the "Dees" So they are using the term "Generation D" As in this will be Our Generation - edit in terms of success imo anyway, no secret messages or anything cryptic about age

Interesting footage of mick Gary Lyon doesnt give anything away, but you get the feeling he is truly satisfied with the MFC situation, and he is under pressure to come in and get things right, also the fact that we are so so open about wanting a big name couch Then Ross Lyon, yeah their were the articles yesterday, but i got the feeling they were more to do with RL has started negotiations, then moved to signed, then moved to seeing out his contract which is what you would say if your not going to sign a new one currently How can RL turn down 5 years 5 Millions dollars when it is quite plainly obvious he and the saints FD department dont completely agree with the clubs future direction All fun and games, especially with nothing on the AFL or Saints web pages, even if RL was only seeing out his contract you would imagine that the Saints would want to truly bury these rumour's 100%, which is not the case Alot of loose ends atm, i i only see i missing out on 1/3 big name coaches so far

Not that i am disagreeing but i havnt been able to find any such articles, and am not on Twitter to see EQ, any chance of a link? as i have heard both from different sources On another note, what if GWS only trade 2 this year, and hear is my epiphany... Could we wait until next year and get the gun 17yo's form the 2013 draft at a cheaper rate after this seasons bidding war and after so many other clubs nominate their compensation picks at the beginning of next season to enter the 2012 superdraft In essence leaving ourselves with the only compensation/draft picks of true value to GWS at this point in time This would be assuming our recruiters have noted talent coming through in the same way that O'Meara and Crouch ect have been spotted out atm? Just a thought And yes this is along way away, but it is all about making the most out of these picks which we can
-
The only problem i have with the 2012 superdraft and using these two compensation picks in them is that every cat and their dog will be in on this draft, depending on how high a team finishes may mean that an extra 5+ picks go between our first pick and these compo picks, eg. GWS and GC have numerous picks to use which will push us back, yeah its great to be part of a superdraft but by the time all these extra picks come in our picks 10-11-13 or whatever may be somewhat closer to the 20's? How good is pick 20 in a superdraft compared to 10-13 in a normal draft?
-
Being honest it would take Westcost more, O'Meara being better than Gaff, also will be far better offers than one first rounder and average player to GWS, Maybe if Westcoast offer their first rounder? which is still only 25 thats where i cant see this getting done
-
I dont see the real A grade depth in our midfield tbh, Moloney (when he is on), Gysberts and Trenners Maybe Blease and Mckenzie thats not enough even with jones and Viney People say that trading with GWS should be a no no, i disagree, who cares, they will end up with so many high picks and young players that they will need to give them away come 3-4 years when their cap runs dry... thats my take Why not take O'meara or Crouch now then someone else back on a decent contract when Moloney retires?? And bottom line two picks around 10 is day light robbery from our perspective if we land )O'meara from reports, a potential top 3 pick

as staying or going?

Lyon apparently reported to be staying at Saints, Channel 10

Article form the AFL website, highlighting 8 players who have been invited to the draft screening as underage players, Including Jaeger and Brad Crouch http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/123309/default.aspx Personally would love Crouch also and i imagine would cost half of what Jaeger will

A day in the life of a frustrated Melbourne supporter

Havnt seen this posted anywhere so much going on just another clever parody -
Stays in China..... I have no idea
-
Yeah maybe i worded it wrong, there is one which goes directly after your first round selection, and one at the end of the whole first round, i believe
-
An "after first round" compensation pick would, i.e. GWS finish last and it would become pick 2... i believe Why these are the valuable ones
-
Dont agree that the longer this drags the more likely he will stay ect is, all i think is that id he decided in 5 days post season then he had obviously made his mind up pre-season finishing, if he drags it to 10-14 days then he looks "credible" Anyway im still hopeful, but not confident, the fact that he needs to go "look" at the GWS facilities tells me atleast that the MFC doesnt mean enough to him. Even though we all know he probably isnt looking at anything. If he "wanted" to remain a MFC player like Trengove ect it wouldnt be difficult The only thing filling myself with any confidence on this issue is Blease's Frawleys comments ect of recent times, and rpfc of course haha edit mainly Blease's

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JACK VINEY
Jordie_tackles replied to einstein251's topic in Melbourne Demons
Love it, Casey could have done with him haha.. next year -
I can see the logic, but why would Bomber change clubs as a director of coaching after one year with his orignial club which he captained ect to be a director of coaching at a club he has never been associated with, this doesnt run with me. Bomber for the Senior Coaching role is another story, however still a long shot imo, Gary's comments are interesting but could just as easily mean Ross Lyon as much as Bomber, wouldnt be disappointed with either obviously. Or nothing at all Atleast the next week will be interesting with the club not playing finals and all haha, will fill the gap between us being crap and not playing finals and the mega event on the board which is the National draft

And only recruited 3 "potential"....all time greats in Watts, Scully and Trengove Wadda Hack

From what i hear Lachie Whitfield isnt eligible for the 17yo draft, and is firming as the #1 for the 2012 draft.... well top 3-5 its along way out, so cant see us drafting him I like the sound of Crouch tbh, obviously O'Meara but he will cost ALOT... Crouch may be a relative steal in comparison and alot of people rate him just behind or equal to the hyped O'Meara Im not a draft expert, i try and follow phantoms anddraft combines ect... i would rate a strong inside mid, to be cliche "Best available" I just see a pick in the 7yo draft being like a top 5 pick which we have zero chance of getting with our list being to good atm, not that this is a bad thing
-
O'Meara is a certainty, Vic team will like Crouch, and i think that SA teams will like Kennedy so will be interesting, especially if they decide to only use 2 this year and these 3 players are in demand
-
Cook was injured mate, didnt even finish the year with Casey, Fitzpatrick has "upside" i know but is very mobile for his size and is big like 198 no? I think we need another Class Mid more than a developing forward atm

Bio from the BF Trial Phantom, had us at #16 though 16: Jackson Paine (Sandringham Dragons) 194cm, 87 kg. Interesting tall with a lot going for him. He's got the height you want in a genuine kpp, and while he's not Jon Patton, he's already looking like developing a strong body. Hands good above his head, particularly one-out, is perfectly capable of ripping apart a weaker opponent once he gets on top. While I'm not sure about his raw pace, for such a big bloke he is very balanced and turns quickly - he lays a lot of tackles, and a kpf who can do that is like gold these days in the age of forward presses - too often the talls just lumber around helplessly and don't contribute much. Works hard, lots of 1%ers. He's also a surprisingly good crumber, from his own marking or from other people's. Very good bloke to have isolated one-out in the goalsquare while the rest of the defense stresses about keeping an eye on Watts. For all his size (and he'll be a monster when he fills out) in my book he's a smarts and finesse player rather than relentless runner who blows his opponents up or a pure strength/speed lead-mark-shoot type, and as such I think he and Watts will complement each other well. The other string to his bow is his ability to play as a 'gorilla' defender. He was just exceptional there against VC in the pre-champs trial match, and I reckon this aspect of his game is really underestimated. With a bit of experience he could be a genuine dual-position kpp swingman, and there aren't all that many of them going around.

i know you wernt exactly referring to it like this RF, I was simply exaggerating my point a little such as i think you did with your initial argument, People will believe what they want to, more often they will like the positive news they read, and disregard the negative rumors There are people who dont take what the journalist write about tom as gospel because they want to take him by his word, and then the same people are happy to contemplate the thought of a great established coach possibly coming to our Club, some people dont believe either, and people believe everything written in the papers such is life
