Jordie_tackles replied to DEELIRIOUS's topic in Melbourne Demons
True but all im thinking about is Gysberts getting about 25 on debut as an unfit 19yo, now he will be playing FIT as a 21yp, can only spell good things imo, similar story for Blease -
Rejuvenated best 22 after trade and draft
Jordie_tackles replied to Dee1987's topic in Melbourne Demons
People will say the draft was 30 hours ago....... lets actually get a grip -
I think it was more a thought of picks we would get in an uncompromised draft which would be in the teens. but you are right in that we wouldnt get great picks this year obviously, but that isnt an indication of talent available at these picks in the next 4 years.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - RORY TAGGERT
Jordie_tackles replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
We rated him higher than most? didnt want to risk not getting him at our next pick? didnt rate the players you mentioned? I like the sound of the bloke, nobody thought Howe would go so high? i bet he would go higher if the draft was today though -
yeah i think he rated Frost quite highly, I dont know if it was KM but some people had questions over Waldhunter.. Still im with you RF the rookie draft is generally a gold mine:Bruce, Davey, Bail, Nicholson, Jurrah, Mckenzie, Jamar so so good

What now for tom? rookie?

The Waylen (aka Zyrus) Manson Thread
Jordie_tackles replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yeah i was convinced he would be worth the punt obviously wrong. In terms of our list, probably not what we need is he, but would be crazy having him and Jurrah running around The hype is funny isnt it....James Seller instead, lets hope neil Craig knows something nobody else does -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - RORY TAGGERT
Jordie_tackles replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
The 187-centimetre midfielder-cum-forward impressed at AFL Draft Combine in October after he was invited following strong performances for TAC Cup club North Ballarat Rebels. "I'd never broken three seconds in the 20 metres and I did that for the first time and I had run 14.1 before the camp and I run a 14.8 beep test, so I was happy with that," Taggert said. "I got third overall in vertical leap and fourth in the handball test." Taggert reached his goals in those tests but was disappointed with his result in the Nathan Buckley-designed kicking test. Having prided himself on his precise kicking, the former St Brigid's College student felt he wiltered under the pressure. -
Disagree thats where Mcdonald was taken last year, good players make it through to the rookie draft, 50 is like just over half way through the draft. Also James McDonald is now the oldest player ever to be drafted!!! Would have loved Manson - can't believe he wasnt taken at all ... I was wrong.

Tynan and Seller The second one is a recycled player

And Port dont take Mason in the 40's....they were meant to be keen Cannot find a write up on Taggart anywhere..... scanned about 5 mocks on BF Definately shapes as another BP special. The North Ballarat rebels have been a favourite of the Dees lately. Frawley, Cook, Cheney, Mcdonald, Taggart

Conspiracy theory re: Neeld/Prendergast
Jordie_tackles replied to DeeSpencer's topic in Melbourne Demons
We still have 3 first rounders better than 15 roughly to use, one on Viney minimum, we could have quite a good midfield. Trouble is this may be 2 years to late. -

multiple freak injuries dont make bad picks, untalented players make bad picks, and you cannot comment on Luke Molans talent. -
The Waylen (aka Zyrus) Manson Thread
Jordie_tackles replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
yes, yes, yes, possibly The only reason Manson wouldnt be worth pick 20 or 30 is because of some of the difficulties players coming from such remote area's face, in terms of responsibilities, metropolitan living and expectations on there footballing. Not to mention close relationships they will have with existing family groups, -
Conspiracy theory re: Neeld/Prendergast
Jordie_tackles replied to DeeSpencer's topic in Melbourne Demons
Of the players highlighted Martin then maybe Fyfe may be A grade but the others are no better than Trengove and im not excited as much s other by Fyfe yet, very good but A grade come on. Dont disagree that any of them cant or wont be A graders but yet, no We may have 2 in Frawley and to a lesser degree Jamar, Jamar being close to top 5 rucks in the league would put him up there, Frawley was in 2010 maybe B+ in 2011 still had a good year imo. -
Conspiracy theory re: Neeld/Prendergast
Jordie_tackles replied to DeeSpencer's topic in Melbourne Demons
I am a believer that Geelongs young players are hiding to a degree in the best team of the last 6 years....... Freo's arnt that exciting either tbh, morobito has played like 8 games??? how can you make a call on him? Also in response Gawn, Howe, Mcdonald, Nicholson Evans, Jurrah as late picks say alot imo Then add Trengove, watts, tapscott, Gysberts, Blease and even Strauss was cementing his spot, (scully/ i mean 2 first rounders) Not a bad 3 years imo -

Jordie_tackles replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yes, but Manson is exciting and was averaging 8 goals a game! Majak was just exciting and athletic without the runs on the board edit - i dont think we will get him after 36 tbh, port seem keen and will use there pick in the 40's on him imo -
Yeah what you say makes alot of sense. I just dont believe that Collingwood will be allowed to play games where you either have to be a Collingwood, AFL, MCC member to see them. The AFL will surely make available some tickets if not 10K or so? Or as mentioned reticket games when people dont activate ther membership for that week?? Also in 5 years time you wont be gauranteed finals and success as was marketed this year ect when Collingwood were outright favorites for the flag ect They will still be huge but i dont think they will get 100K members or close to it unless they are super successful (in flag contention)
-
Collingwood is quite openly limited in the number of members they can have, 70K is getting to big in terms of numbers, depends how many are 3-5 game memberships ect The MCG only has room for 100K people and it cant just be filled by Collingwood fans. Obviously not everyone will come to every game, i think Essendon are making the majority of there memberships allocated seating for similar reasons. Maybe ending up like WC and Freo with a huge membership and resale of tickets, still needs to be 30-40K available to most games against VIC teams imo for atmosphere

Whats your job, would have thought it is illegal to fire someone for supporting charity?
-
Funny you mention this, read this on the bigfooty phantom done by 18 members who follow the under agers, each picking for one team obviously. who did we pick? Woodward! http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=887267&page=3 It is a good write up of Woodward, and others...couldnt cut and paste it for some reason

I agree with make or break comments regarding Cale, although i think that all Col lacks is consistency at his best for longer. He is one of out best players but could be one of the leagues best if he can become consistent at a higher level... He will always have a spot imo playing at his current levels, Cale will not have a future playing at his current levels

Jade Rawlings on Sen with Ox & Frank later tonight
Jordie_tackles replied to jayceebee31's topic in Melbourne Demons
I actually started by saying it probably wsnt you who i was commenting on Bru, wants some chups? What about maths? your point is? I am saying Bartram has a better DI than people perceive otherwise, and he will be doing better to hold onto possession, people who say this is bad against good teams, maybe but holding your own possession is what good teams do, they dont take the risky option every time. Hawthorn hold possession for minutes if they need to, becasue any team needs possession to do anything of meaning, generally. Why so personal? you barley responded to my points at all? -

I find these comments funny, maybe it wasnt yourself but numorous posters here and else where have cried out for Bartram to "take the easy option" " take his first option". Now he does this, and maybe it isnt great but it is better than giving the ball away, i dont think that 23 players on a team can "pull the trigger", different players have different roles in a team, Bartrams isnt to do this. He applies pressure, plays on small opponents and tags very well, which are all important roles within a team, if he can give it to other players who can pull the trigger that may be his role. I also think he began to work forward when given the opportunity....and ironically it was his kicking that cost him around 5 goals during the second half, maybe he can develop this pat of his game Ideally i would love for all 23 players on our team to be able to kick directly and under pressure but i dont think Collingwood had this in their team, Geelong may have been closer, but my point is that not even the best teams had 23 A grade Kickers. Anyway i was just hoping to throw the bloke a life line around hear as many seem to be very hard on him.
