I think that's a touch drastic as a sweeping statement. The Senior Players are leading, save for a couple who are one or 2 matches back from injury .

I don't think missing finals is a failure. It would be disappointing given we could have made it, but at the start of the season I didn't expect us to make it. Things we've learnt this year regardless of finals; - Our young players are good - The Roos/Goodwin transition was successful - We're not easy beats and on our day we can take it up to every team in the comp

GWS are second on the ladder and the majority of the coaches in the comp still predict they will win the flag. We're playing like a bunch of tired kids, because for a lot of the guys that's what we are. 3 games left - win them all and we play finals. Win 2 and we're around the mark too. basically If we make it we deserve it, and if we don't then we're a middle of the road team (which is what we are at this stage IMO). Even if we miss out I wont be too disheartened because for a change the kids are showing enough to make me believe we are building towards something special.

It's a moot point isn't it? Comparing the past to the present when the guys are full time footballers with state of the art sport science behind them makes it difficult. As I said before, not disagreeing that clarry may well become better than all of them, or that's he's ahead of where they could have been at the same age, but to just say he's already better than them isn't right IMO

Robert Flower played for the dee's 30 years ago. Tingay, Todd Viney, Yze, Bruce, Jr Mac - we've had some damn good mids in that time too. Clarry is a gun, but I'm not buying he's already better than every mid we've had in the last 30 years.

Moloney - 19 Brownlow votes in 2011, Clarry might top that but Beamer was good that year too.

30 years? Sorry mate, but in that time we've had a Brownlow winning mid, AA players, not to mention multiple B&F winners. I don't disagree that Clarry has the tools to be as good if not better than those guys, but 'He is already the best midfielder we have had in the last 30 years' is crazy talk ....think before you post!

I assume its because the FD think Pederson is more likely to perform at the required level. Weiderman will have his time over the coming years, but now we need to win a few games and make finals and I agree with the FD that Pedo is more likely to deliver.

Feel ok about this one. It's like the port game, where you'd expect the boys will throw everything they have into it. Unfortunatley Its the games against the Saints and the Pies which are already making me nervous

There was nothing 'Moneyball' about it. That term has only been used because the movie was in vogue so it made a nice headline. Strip away the media speak and we just had a crap list which we thought could be improved by plugging holes using unwanted players from other clubs. nothing more, nothing less.

I think the fear of this game is typical MFCSS. Same symptoms as last week when a lot of people didn't feel like we could beat port. I think we (including myself) underestimate how far this side has come this year. If we drop points this weekend then we probably don't deserve to play finals. North are a decent side (arguably better than their ladder position would have you believe) but they really miss the likes of Boomer Harvey, Wells and the other guys they let go. I'm not worried about Ben Brown because I don't think they'll kick it into their forward 50 enough for him to kick more than 3! Dees by 30+

Barrett isn't an ex player, so people (myself included) find him nauseatingly smarmy - unlike Damian, I think ex players have the right to have massive ego. Ex players opinions also carry enough weight that they can get away with a 'matter of fact' sort of vibe when they are essentially crystal balling. He sees himself as a massive celebrity. His weekly sliding doors article on AFL.com is pure trash. /rant! In terms of the co-captaincy I'm a massive fan of Nathan Jones and I still see him as our principal Captain. Viney is an amazing footballer and leader but I wouldn't have had a problem with him waiting a few years to be given the captaincy. Either way, its a bit of a non-issue given Jones hasn't let it get too him - until injured was having a brilliant season.

Yes Macca is the unsung hero of the revival. Roos and Goodwin have been huge, but I'd assume Macca has been equal to these guys in terms of player development, instilling confidence and contested ball craft.

Think this is a reflection of how even the comp is rather than any issue of our own. We've shown the ability to come back form being 3-4 goals down on many occasions - so have the teams we've played.

Finally think we've got the cattle to contend so I'm happy with the list. A back-up ruck would be handy and you'd like to think that we would/could have a go for any real quality OOC players or FA's if the price and fit is right for us. In terms of the draft I'd just be going for the best available.

Hibberd will win the Bluey this season if he keeps up his form (IMO). Absolute top class player and ultra consistent

I believe its a very solid backline with Rive,Garland and Chippa. They just need to not be seeing the ball every two seconds and be surrounded by opposition midfielders and that isn't gonna happen against the tigers. Our midfielders will be a lot better this week if Beamer is back. Who is Beamer? Oh yeah he is that bloke who won the B&F last year. With JT,Jones,Magner and hopefully Couch all in and under and also a tag on Martin we've got this. Another game for Russian to prove his worth. Who's Russian? He is an all australian Ruckman and one of the best hit out players in the league. Bate needs to play a full game he is getting touches with little game time so give him a start Neeld. Our forwards will smash them if Ricky P and Clark start deep. They can't handle two big agile forwards who can take a grab. They have no hope of stopping them two. Don't kid yourselves, Rance is a gun. And IMO most defenders are a little dirty and exploit contact for their benefit - given the amount of free's that get paid against them for marginal contact it's natural to try and even up the ledger every now and then.
