Calling all pre-season track watchers ...
- PODCAST: Trade Week Wrap
According to Tim Lamb the club is under new management with a flush of key appointments. Will this translate to immediate on field improvement or will the competitive reset take multiple seasons?- AFL Draft 2025: Picks 7 & 8
Wouldn’t have a clue or pretend to. Positive Jason Taylor will weave his magic come the draft. Tim Lamb’s ‘bacon’ was saved by matinee idol Jack Steele stealing the limelight on dead💀line day. He’s no longer widely lambasted here. So there’s a stay on the lamb being basted at the demonland satay barbecue. Peanut sauce? no problem it’s always found abundance on DL. Sadly Trac can’t be consulted. He’s joined a dodgy AFL franchise just over the Queensland border. Run by a shadowy figure known as "Dimma". He'll be too busy getting up to speed on how to bend bananas. Clayton Oliver was last sighted on a Sydney Harbour cruise. Unconfirmed stories have emerged he was press ganged into joining a pantomime troop known locally as the 'lost giants'. (No body can find them). To make a long story short. It seems the Australian rules outpost in Greater Sydney’s wild west is in peril. The AFL is putting together a Peter Pan posse of cowboys to save the day. Unfortunately they'll be more likely channeling The Wild Bunch than The Magnificent Seven. According to 'reputable' football journalists, Clarry will have a leading role. Along with other absconders Jesse Hogan and Jake Stringer. They can all roll Jaffas together at the Saturday matinee. Back on topic… Young Sam Grilj would align nicely with the club partner sponsor Grill’d so you’d think he’s a football shoe in.- Farewell Taj Woewodin
Father and Son bit of history there. It was initiated originally by the VFL post WW2 with MFC being an early beneficiary with Ronald Dale Barassi being cleared to the Demons. Amongst those to come to the club by this pathway there has been some outstanding players. Ron Barassi numero uno, Don, Denis and Ted Cordner, Ken Emselle, Big Bob Johnson, John Lord and Jack Viney. All were members of MFC premiership teams. 8 out of a total of 33 father-sons to play for the Demons tasted ultimate success in Australian Rules. Of the others the talent may have been there but not the opportunity. It could be argued the fathers in a number of the ‘pairings’ had more significant football careers with or without premiership success. So in reality father-son recruitment is no guarantee to a successful footy career. The percentage strike rate based on premiership success alone is roughly 1 in 4 or 25%. So Taj Woewodin was battling against the odds. To astute observers with a bit of history. He never had the flair of his father Brownlow medal winner Shane, who covered the ground in dashing style and was a penetrating kick. Nonetheless Taj is a determined young bloke with plenty of courage and ‘grunt’. Wish you well son.- Bailey Humphrey

GWS: A- Building to our next flag
Amen. Let the resurrection begin.- Bailey Humphrey
Just about to turn this ‘adult’ football fantasy to page 100 can’t say it’s been an engrossing read. Publishers sent a reject slip as the protagonists were sighted in espionage dress ups on the tan. Proposals for the fictional draft’s title included “The Player who came in for the gold” , “Tinkered, Trailered, Soldier on, Spy”, (the mole is revealed). Other suggestions included “AFLcrap file”, “Billion-Dollar Baby” and “Here’s Humphrey”. Anthropologists researching this on-line phenomenon report it is akin to a post-WW2 South Sea cargo cult. Where worshippers gathered for months, weeks, days at an end expecting manna from heaven. Having been denied on field success (with the odd interlude of a premiership thrown in). The gathering featured furious efforts to build a mobile phone tower and an internet platform to receive divine deliverance from a god-like entity known as AFL (Press here for AFL chant*).Alternatively (Press here for USA🇺🇸 chant) Oops wrong channel! Colliwobbles only. The gathered throng were entertained by the bravado of the boldest of the prophetic predictors. Who launched themselves off the platform into WWW space attached only by slenderest liana vines of ‘reality’. Laws of Gravity do apply.- Potential Father Son Prospect Noah Yze
Noah’s 7 goal performance for Casey in the VFL finals. Strongly suggests there is something to work with. Unsure of available list positions, probably viewed by recruiters as a speculative late pick or rookie spot at best. Maybe the tiggers or woods are seeking that late ‘honey pot’ pick too? If so it’s Pooh to bare, another Casey player snatched from under our list management noses.- Assistant Coaches in 2026
Max Viney’s timely re-appointment as combative and tackling coach seems to have slipped under the radar. Recalcitrants on big contracts have been forewarned.- AFL Trade Radio 2025

- Steven King interview SEN 2.10.2025
Goulburn Valley boy from the 'Bears' Shepparton Football Club. Which has longevity, an interesting history not unlike MFC and some significant figures in Australian Rules from the past and present. Former players who have connections include Peter Maynard, David Code, Shannon Byrnes and Tom Hafey who coached the club to a hattrick of flags prior to his ascension as coach at Richmond. Currently AFL listed players include Lachlan Ash, Will Brodie, Jordan Butts and Jarman Impey are former SFC alumni. Good luck Rex Steven! Long may you reign.- Farewell Judd McVee
DC depending on how the roulette wheel spins between 14 - 17 premiership heroes will remain on our list in 2026.- Farewell Judd McVee
Reality update: Casey 2022.- Trade Targets
Early days but... Who's in charge of putting our spine together for next season? Steven May is apparently out the door, Harrison Petty is in limbo (neither forward nor back) and Tmac transitioning to back up. Forward line is twix and inbetween good start early learning and Brody & Co at the Carringbush Retirement Home. List management Guru Lamb is rumoured to have this guy on the back burner as a surprise monster talls recruitment. Expecting King Steven to put his foot down soon. - PODCAST: Trade Week Wrap
