Club lists finalised with further signings
Check your arithmetic! It is deespicable! The metric equivalent to the old imperial 6 foot is 182.88 cm rounds off to 183 cm in whole numbers. That may explain the inordinate number of the 'vertically challenged' on our list!

Kardinia Park may not be the smug stronghold it once was. With some spilt milk rather than the collective self-satisfied licking of the ? ‘s whiskers. Be backing a bus load of younger up and comers to turn up and spoil the celebration. It will not be Collingwood, Richmond, or Carlton as they it seems are never fixtured west of the Yarra.

and guilty by association Docs Demons... Addendum: Is Isaac Smith a closet goofy footer? the appeal of Dad's Army in hoops down at Kardinia Park won out.

Another Season for Mitch Brown
An apt renewal of contract. Given his lack of opportunity with some at times bizarre preferences around forward selection decisions last season. A merry-go-round of one, two and three talls? with varying degrees of effectiveness v ineffectiveness. Some overly persisted with, others summarily dropped and back to just scratch matches after just one go around in AFL side. Thought his Brown low vote winning effort against the Dons was one of the better performances by a Dee tall forward for the 2020 season. A team orientated smart decision maker with clean skills and mobility plus courage. A keeper. Go the mo!

Jaidyn Stephenson
If this sums up the flatulent end of Jack's career it mercifully should of be consigned to finale in the Rockies maze where it should remain frozen. REDRUM

The Brodie Smith thread
Chip is yesterday's burnt offerings Smith's Crisps anyone?
-
Adam Treloar
Treloar's kicking is a bit like the trajectory of a North Korean rocket, sporadically launched without the guidance system. Made a similar observation at the last Queens Birthday Big Freeze match and a Carringbushie totally supported that view. (Demographic of the modern Collingwood supporter is no longer that stereotypical beer swilling, toothless yob, yelling obscenities). Would much prefer Stephenson, Thomas or Crisp as prospective trade targets

... add Dr.D and drdrake to that auspicious list. But not Dr Stephen Dank as it seems he is now a fugitive from justice. Back on topic; Smithy will indubitably add a suave, urbane, ever so slightly debonair edge to wing play at the 'G just add the red V and navy blue long sleeves.

Warming to the debate on one of the current threads on this forum Trade & Draft in the Time of COVID re: MFC as a destination club. We think Demonland may be a destination footy blog for members of the sports medical profession as well, with the good Doctors Evil and Gonzo immediately springing to mind. Sure there are others out there too but memory presently eludes us...

Ben Ronke
Would that be Darren? Round 6 1991 at VFL Park v Collingwood. Midpoint in a stellar purple patch. Young fella absolutely destroyed the pies. Seven dynamic goals. The Sun was shining... a great day at the footy! ps. Gary Lyon 100 games, Todd Viney BOG.

Life in Australia - Melbourne 1966
DeeZone shall defer to your re-collections of that era! There may be an alternative universe 'sliding door' moment hidden in there somewhere. Ronald Dale misses the Route 19 Swanston Street tram to Princess Park and than instead purchases a train ticket to Westgarth Station. He walks down a familiar inner Melbourne suburban street and enters a single fronted terrace. He rings the doorbell and is greeted by a familiar face. Over a cold fosters lager (it is now cricket season)...he confides that he conflicted about his footy future. By the end of the evening "the magician" (stage name Reynard Rouge), has weaved his spell... the rest is 'history', les diables continue to dominate the competition for decades to come...

Was Chloe in the blokes only public bar? Foster's lager I can almost taste it now...

2021 Preseason Training Timeline
Appears to be a rational well thought decision by the AFL given the rigours on players and their families during this COVID year. Rather than the annual racketing up of the rapacious all consuming beast, tame overwhelming and often unrealistic expectations to a more appropriate human dimension. Refresh and re-invigorate.

Mitch Hannan - wing?
Is that OsCar or OsKar? the later definitely showed some maturity and poise on the wing. Upwards and Onwards!

Zero hanger trade hypotheticals
Coach translation fragment says Hold On Me Were you referring to those deciding to remain on board or those queueing for the Sunshine Coast post-hub club departure lounge? Speculation is rife here in Demonland, Jack Viney RFA, Preussy wanting the the first ruck gig, McDonald's Farm fire sale, Please reveal riddle solution. Meanwhile to the refrain of Percy Sledge... I want to leave you, don't want to stay here Don't want to spend another day here, oh Though I want to split now, I can't quit now
-
Tom McDonald
Maybe North could get the bookends Key Forward and Key Back, form a posse and rename it the James Gang in honour of our former leader who departed unceremoniously to GWS.

Time to have a talk about Jayden
Dare we say it with greater "connectivity" could be anything ... clearly benefited by "narrowing the focus" and playing his "role for the team." Swooper stood up and "controlled what he could control,”... Well, that is the "takeaway" from last rounds "learnings". Everything else is just "fugazi".

POSTGAME: Rd 18 vs Essendon
Wasn't that Ruth is Stranger than Richard? Well at least we are not Rock Bottom. The Cairns fiasco frustrating although it was, is on reflection not all down to Goodwin et al. The response in the last two games has been gratifying. Rather than go out meekly, the guys have re-established their playing credo and come out on top. Against two credible opponents. Its not perfect or always consistent but its heading in the right direction, up the ladder. Agree with the agricultural gent who posted earlier, 'Farmer'. Simon Goodwin spoke well at what may be the last post-match media conference for this season. Plenty of confidence and forthright introspection there. Remember 9thmond? regular bridesmaids coach, players and club under a great deal scrutiny until a critical mass was achieved ... ps. we are also warming to SOS, given his disappointments last season definitely Body and Soul. Convincingly beat Joe Daniher one on one in a key contest.
