Look like a class of recalcitrant schoolboys sitting down to a reality check homily from the coach post game.
  2. Typo? Toby Bedford mentioned in preamble as emergency but Kade Chandler named on the team sheet. Either are worthy 23rd ‘men’ given recent performances.

Collingwood’s woes v Hogan’s giant steps back from multiple adversity? Pleased today for Jesse, an exceptional talent when on song. May body and soul stick together (except against us).
  4. As opined by a previous poster ?, there possibly is no need to cast the net too widely. When it appears there may be a potential mid-season draft prospect or two in our own backyard. The Casey Demons VFL alignment has already some runs on the board. With Bayley Fritsch and Jay Lockhart and one other? on AFL lists. A number of relatively unheralded young blokes have been displaying their football prowess at a resurgent Casey this season. Including according to Dwayne Russell, “Kade Chandler” ?, but besides Ryan Sparkes, Zac Foot and George Grey may also have some appeal. ps. #39 is also not harming his chances of a call up.
  5. Travelling First Class on the “Spirit of Tasmania” as we speak one assumes.
  6. Unheralded Western Australian product who plays both cricket and Aussie rules at elite level ‘may have’ recruiters’ salivating. In appears he has historically ‘a picture perfect’ profile for both MCC and MCC football sections. Meanwhile... “Expectation at of a knighthood may be stretching things to far” commented a Buckingham Palace spokesperson. But the ‘Sir’ would go very nicely with... Frederick Spencer Clutterbuck
  7. Nibbler’s been a favourite here since his debut year. That is not to say there hasn’t been some frustrations over the journey, from both sides of the boundary line. 2019 recall posting about ANB’s seemingly perennial ball handling yips ‘Couldn’t get a grip’. 2020’s concussion suspension was on the severe end of the spectrum. Dangerfield and Hawkins being high profile AFL$ players would of course not be made the ‘fall guy’ by the judiciary. Anecdotally his goal kicking is mostly effective although it can be off radar on some occasions. His 2nd Qt, snap goal from tight in the pocket, that started Melbourne’s ascendency last Anzac Eve was superb. Praised effusively by the TV commentary. Goals like that are gold, the Tiggers cloak of invincibility was beginning to slip.
  8. Special mention; Nathan Jones the years may have begun to caught up, but a true champion of the Melbourne Football Club. 300th game, Anzac Eve in the trenches with his team mates giving his wholehearted best as always.
  9. 2016 if memory serves well. Jack Viney rag dolled Rance. Apparently he was remorseful, retired early and found God. Leaving those sodom and gomorrah ites behind to dwell at Punt Road.
  10. Some folk here have made some very public and specific commitments...
  11. 6 Christian Salem 5 Christian Petracca 4 Max Gawn 3 Luke Jackson 2 Clayton Oliver 1 Tom McDonald Honourable mentions; Alex Neil-Bullen Jack Viney Adam Tomlinson Steven May Angus Brayshaw Ed Langdon Michael Hibberd Overall performance; Challenged early, regained composure and counter-attacked to achieve a significant victory.
  12. Celebrating tonight! Bath water is on the house!
  13. Add Big Luke Influential game
  14. Connect the dots ?Sheedy Tigers 60’s - 70’s ?Sheedy ?Essendon Hardwick 2000 grand final ?2021 Hardwick Tigers.
  15. Martin a very good footballer but maybe he should consider a career change. Curtain call for extras in the new Mad Max Gawn epic is about to happen. Dusty just add black leather, with studs, a Harley and for good measure a jail break. Go you mighty Demons!!!!!!
  16. As that famous footy scribe Marcus Clark wrote ‘For the Term of his Natural Life’.

Totally agree Sue, the hand supposedly holding the ball ‘steady’, awaiting the arrival of the action force (‘closed’ fist.) Is now integral in the launch of the ball. Scott Pendlebury’s long ‘handball’ technique has that characteristic slinging action. Of course he is hardly home alone in that. But that at least more or less mimics the original intention. Clayton Oliver has been ‘pinged’ a few times so far this season for dubious handballs. He obviously is a well practiced ‘gunslinger’ when it comes to ‘handball’ but overall appears to maintain fair sportsmanship. Unlike Liberatore and his ilk, who like a growing number of AFL ‘luminaries’ , appear to think that winning at any cost justifies the end result. In a more perfect AFL world, shadowy figures at the card table who regularly apply deceptive practices in close, may at some time get their deserved comeuppance. Now where exactly is that Karma bus?

So the handball like the drop kick is destined to go the way of the Dodo? As long as it’s endorsed by the NRL.

Whitten’s flick pass was outlawed for the betterment of the game. Will the AFL rules committee recommend that the Footscray sleight of the ‘closed propulsive hand’ be focussed on under the umpiring microscope? Or will Liberatore and Co; still be allowed to be a bunch of tossers?
  20. May’s speedy recovery and brave return to the field of battle, after what initially appeared to be a horrendous injury. Shows he is (or has) a tough ‘mug’ with gritty determination to boot. Ditto Bayley Fritsch. After a belated viewing of the Casey v Box Hill VFL match. Where a number of contenders for AFL spots displayed their impressive credentials. TC are spruiking Kade Chandler after his performance as the one to watch. Definitely short listed here for team selection when an opportunity arises.
  21. BD seems to be some confusion here with your recollection! Gerry Gee was a force for good humoured witticisms, spiced with occasional mischievous banter. One would never associate him with being malevolent.?
  22. If MFC beat RFC we will laud Goody’s cunning ploy to appropriate and assimilate Dimma’s gameplan into the Demon playbook.
  23. Agreed JG, the notion of bringing in both Brown and Weidemann together and they immediately fit in harmoniously, with other forwards and mid-fielders is questionable. It will take time to develop synergy between, what is currently working well and adding new components. It will not necessarily be a matter of flicking on a switch and it automatically happens. As noted by other posters on this thread, Sam Weidemann may be the forward inclusion of first choice by selectors. Surprisingly Ben Brown may be allowed further opportunity in the VFL to get ‘cherry right’ for Blundstone Arena. A great position for the club to be in, not merely holding the fort for the calvary to arrive, to get the season going. But now holding high ladder position with a number of hard working and talented players strongly desiring to be part of it.
  24. Ease up BD ? ! Sold our souls in a deal with the devil demon to resurrect the “show” in 2010 on DL. When El Diablo called in the bet we were ‘condemned’ to remain MFC supporters, a life sentence.
