  1. Nice to see some balanced and thoughtful posts on a thread about OMac. Refreshing.
  2. I thought gus IS a right footer. No?
  3. Indeed. But also the real issue has been the kick inside 50 to our forwards. Improve that and we will convert a lot more chances. Draft or trade in some quality outside players who can hit a target. In the meantime put fritter forward.
  4. Could not agree more. It is critical we finish strongly. Look at the bombers. Were well out of the finals race at this point last year but steamed home and had momentum this year. Fans had the 'what could have been feeling;' not jeez we finished near last. Have blown that momentum buy that is another story. Who cares about picks? We 'll get a top 10ish pick and that's the key. We don't need bigs and often they are the ones who go high. And don't need contested ball beasts. So we'll be in the mix for a player who meets our needs. Win and build belief. Get games into Lochhardt and Smith and Hore and other players who may mot have got a shot. Build a winning culture. Win
  5. Agree on all points. Time to draft a kid. One with really good kicking skills and pace. Would love Jack Martin but don't want to trade out the sort of player you need to offer up (trac and gus come to mind). They need to keep the core group of youngish players together. Trading out a trac or gus will damage the culture and team dynamic.
  6. Wagner for mine. Blanket him. Hibberd too slow. Mediums and smalls are really causing us grief down back this year. Walters and Matera were by far their most damaging players, which continue a trend.
  7. I can see the argument for dropping him but personally i'd like to see him stay in the side. Has not been in great form yet but with 3 (?) games under his belt he will be close now to full fitness and if he clicks i'd rather it happen in the ones not at Casey. At his best provides a real x factor and i have a feeling he is a good energy in the team.
  8. Agree with all points. I thought he played quite well. Made some turnovers but jeez so did every other player. I liked when he crashed into a dockers player in the air - really committed to the contest. And i liked the mark he took late in the in the last q. Simple but snaffled it. Happy for him to stay in the side, but also happy for him to go back to Casey and keep building. If Lever is ready would seem a natural swap. A good dilemma to have.
  9. Metaphorically i suspect he is. This MFC post game interview with Tom (with a young fella, whose name escapes me, that i'm increasing coming to like) gives a fascinating insight into Tom, and perhaps also his brother. He is is quite an interesting cat, Tom. Very open about his feelings and doesn't speak in cliches. His response to the question about the importance of confidence is quite revealing. Worth a listen, but in a nutshell he says confidence is THE most importance thing. I suspect Omac has a similar temperament. Certainly both had off season surgeries and as a result interrupted preseasons and both have been struggling for form and confidence. https://www.melbournefc.com.au/video/2019-06-22/rd-14-tom-mcdonald-postmatch
  10. Great post. Didn't realise frost was nearly 26. Can't believe they gave him so much time to develop (jokes).
  11. It was definitely Ill discipled. Agree walters flopped. But he did so to get a free and was successful. Stupid from Jones. As his coach and apparently his teammates told him at 3 q time. We had all the momentum and a certain goal was lost. But as goody said he played his part in the last. I was impressed actually that we didn't lose the momentum and kept going. Obviously the team didn't dwell on the incident, which is a good sign.
  12. I said in the last see you later omac thread that after being dropped that perhaps he is struggling a bit with his mental health in part realted to tbe bagging he cops on social media (and dl is part of the social media landscape). And that perhaps with the bye the club might have given him a break to freshen up. Not picked at casey this week and not on the injury perhaps my concerns might have some validity So I find it quite weird that another se ya later thread has popped up about omac. With fans like us who needs opposition supporters? Also find it strange that on this very thread people are pointing out how well frosty is travelling. And that most (But not all thankfully) dont see the irony in this. Frost could not get s senior game until half way through last year. He was at casey working on what he needed to sort out.. He is at least a year older than omac. Surely frost is the perfect example of the folly of writing players off, as many posters did on dl and of the capacity of players to develop and improve.
  13. Omac has a contract for 2020. Not going anywhere. He will be back in the ones soon enough.
  14. Live I thought trip. I watched the replay and think it wasn't. Given I was sitting at the opposite end of the ground I'll give the umpire right on the spot the benefit of the doubt. I was more annoyed at the fact the ball had got down that end after us faffing around with it at our end.
  15. Worthy of a permanent ban from this site. Xenophobia a clear breach of the code of conduct and someone with such a pathetic world view isn't going to change.
  16. Agree. Plus he us confident in his own ability and confident enough to go for things, like the nice baulk he did on the he flank. His pace is really important for us evidence when he got to that ball meters booted forward (passing Jones who gave him a 15 metre head start).
  17. He was nowhere near the player in 2017 that he is now.
  18. Goody also bristled a bit at the question (which I think was suggesting frosty has been poor) and responded with a bit of an edge. Said something along the lines of 'I think you're being a bit harsh there ...'
  19. I see what you're saying about petty in terms of his costly turnovers, but reads the play well and has good hands. Also loved the way he attacked the ball in the air at the edge of the centre square at the punt road end. Cruched the Freo player. Playing twiggy lever's role so probably comes out for him. But who knows when that will be? I'd keep hannan in too. Rather he finds form in the ones to be honest. Important player structurally and i think with q couple of games now under his belt will start to improve.
  20. Agree. And on another day he gets 5 or 6 not 3.3 because he is usually an excellent kick for goal. Terrific technique. Has had a horrid run with injury and hopefully he can play out the season and build confidence and experience. I was reflecting that ideally we would have both Smith's in the forward line. Both attack the ball in the air and on the ground and tackle fiercely and provide the sort of forward pressure we have sorely missed.
  21. This should be pinned to the top of every thread.
  22. Not bad from 40 though!
  23. Joeboy's 3 word analysis v fremantle - most accurate ever
  24. Exactly what i thought. After the first we had he way more uncontested marks than them. Played much slower
