  1. For me much depends on the approach goody takes. For me the team was not physically ready for the port game. It is clear they should have brought fresh players in. Ironic that one of the 2 players they did bring in was not fit. That does not excuse the players for not being mentally ready or their performance and the fact they were neither physically or mentally ready damns the FD. But with the six day break to the crows game the team won't be fatigued, particularly given it was such a soft, no pressure game and we had no injuries. The question is does goody punish the team and swing the axe. In which case harmes, gus, hannan, fritter, and no doubt others are all good chances to be dropped. Or does he offer the players a chance to redeem themselves and make minimal changes? In that sceario I agree tmac and Jones go out (tmac simply has to). Maybe kozzie too as he looks like he needs a rest, but I reckon they will play him. Agree benell in, but I doubt we will go with a third tall again (by the by, playing the top of the ladder team is a weird time to experiment with key structures) so no brown. ANB won't help our ability to hit a target but you can't fault his effort and after last weeks debacle I would like to some of that. But surely Tomlinson comes out of purgatory this week.

Sorry 58er he is a joke as a football analyst and commentator. A joke. Who knows might be a good bloke (I went to school with him and he was a [censored], but he might have changed), and was s champion footballer. But he is clueless about the modern game. Does not understand tactics, systems strategies how zones work re list goes on and on. He is a typical ex champion footy player who dominate footy media who think football stopped evolving the day they retired. And collectively this grumpy of knuckle heads is a big reason why so many football fans are equally clueless about how the game is acttually played. And ironically all you have to do to understand how rubbish Lyon is at his job is listen to him during the game, post game and on On the Couch. I rate slobbo more highly as
  3. They were ferocious. Interesting tactical battle given longmuire had lot to do with the pies defensive systems No Hogan. i assume he is injured?
  4. I backed them, which made them beating the pies even sweeter
  5. Just watch i see on tv. And what i hear from 'experts' like gaddy Lyon. Thats why I know the first goal of the game was Oscar McDonald's fault, not as I assumed from watching it on tv a break down of their zone. Gary was a champion. He knows stuff. So I believe him.
  6. Sort of agree, in so far as sadly a third games was better than harmes and his- and even more damingly put in way more effort. But when picked i assumed he would take jetts spot as we have too many inside mids as it is. And as you say tracc played more foreard time as a result . Bizarre given we brought in a third tall.

One of the smartest footy brains out there? Seriously?
  8. Who's to say we wont recruit him
  9. He is getting smashed in every game. In marking contests and in the ruck. And his understandable frustration is starting to show. On that, why when the game was out of reach didn't Tmac take some centre bounces and round the ground stoppages (leaving aside his lack of mobility and the fact the only time now he gets off the ground is when flying to games)? Instead they threw jackson in there, which is fine but id rather Tmac get belted than a first year string bean.
  10. I can't recall the exact stat but at about the 13 minute mark of the first quarter one of the commentators noted we had some crazy amount of turnovers. 16 is in my mind, but whatever it is is was off the charts. It was just so infuriating to watch. And so many of our turnovers happened on our half forward line, which in footy these days that is probably the worst spot to turn it over as(except in front of goals - and even then there should be traffic) as it gives the opposition the corridor and as attacking team is pushing forward an open space to launch an easy counter attack. Every team employs all team zones now. One on one footy is history. No zone can defend even half the number we coughed up last night.it is only luck we didn't lose that game by 10 golas or more.
  11. I've mad the point on the podcast last week that an issue for us is we seem not to look to switch from the back pocket. We always go down the line. And knowing that teams give us that kick to the pocket and then set up down the line. No doubt part of it is a directive to go to max but as i noted it is also because our players are simply not confident taking the switch kick on - which is a worry because a 40 metre kick to a free player is a pretty basic skill at any level, let alone the elite level. Makes us super predictable, means maxy gets smashed 25 times a game and even if he does mark he has to kick to a contest down the line too as every player is on that side and opposition team are happy for him to try to a kick to the corridor knowing he will almost certainly not hit the target. Lever is the main culprit with this (he often doesn't even look) but not the only one. Again it is all comes back to our sub standard kicking skills.
  12. To be honest this is why talk of cliques, fractures don't overly concern me. All teams have their issues, cliques and people who don't get along etc etc. As you rightly say it is how they are dealt with and managed. Winning certainly helps with that. Look at the Australian cricket team during the Warne, Waugh era. The two most important members of that team - the talismen, could not stand each other in the last few years they played. Barely talked by all accounts. Didn't hurt too much where it counted on field. But good managers, manage. A concern i have always had with Goody - and it is a feeling, i don't have inside word or anything - is i wonder how he is with man management. Sure positive relationships are critical but the the best managers know how to harmonise a group and to have different personalities and styles reach their potential and play their part. I didn't like the Watts situation. Under roos he played his best footy, because he allowed him to be who he was. I understand i don't know what was going on behind the scenes and from many posted here (including leoncelli any number of times) there were reports about his off field behavior and impact on the group from a culture perspective. All of which might be true (and for mine, within reason, i could care less what they do off field). But whilst i respect the decision to trade him - and not wanting to pone that decision up for debate, i get the argument for that decision - i still wonder if Goody might have managed him differently to get a good outcome. The best teams, be that in work or sport - are made up off different cats. Robots don't win premierships.
  13. I think the strategy is for Andy to introduce me not as a co host but caller to the how Andy: 'Joining me as co host tonight is long time Demonlander, George on the Outer, welcome George George: 'good evening Andy and can i say i am really looking forward to the NBA starting' Andy: 'and i have just received our first caller of the night, long time Demonland podcast caller, the ridiculously optimistic binman - hello binman, still got your rose and blue colored glasses on or are you actually disappointed this week...' binman: 'thanks for taking my call Andy - i blame my avatar for my making me believe this week - needless to say we have parted ways and i have taken up with grumpy Garry Baker avatar again, and like him i more than disappointed this week - angry and frustrated is closer to the mark
  14. Still watching channel 7 rubbish waiting for his presser. I want something from him other than hollow platitudes
  15. I see what you did there..... To clarify tmac needs a fee games to run into some form?
  16. So much to be gutted by. Too raw to be get my head around that.game. So I've just got one thing. Tom McDonald is not in AFL shape. Physically. Or mentally. He is miles off. It's not a form thing. It's a physically not up to an elite sport thing. He was beyond a liability tonight. On a fast deck his complete lack of mobility and speed was shocking. Exhibit A of an alphabet of examples. His inability to get close to marking that pass in the second quarter from Salem was laughable. Sure it was yet another rubbish kick but he would have got to it in 2018 Which is not my issue. If he is not in shape he is not in shape. Allll of the above had to have been apparent to goody. As fans we trust the club to know that as we cant watch him.train or plsy VFL. I fully expected him to be in ripping nick and raring to go. Or why else pick him? My issue is how could goody arrive at the decision to pick him ? We had a near full list to choose from. And we pick a player not in shape. And a third tall firward to boot. I simply don't understand.
  17. Any chance we might switch?
  18. 2 minutes to go and we just had our 4th inside 50. I feel sick
