I hope I wasn't out of line with that crack about there being zero chance Spargo not getting selected if fit....

I'm a extra-large or xx in shirts and tees but my current dees jumper is 3x. And it's a pretty snug fit. So, when choosing your size for the dees jumper, i'd consider going up one size

CASEY: Rd 07 vs Gold Coast Suns
Snap. Just posted this on the pre game thread: What's the deal with the VFL team yet to be announced, despite the game being in less than 24 hours and the players will have already flown up there. I've searched everywhere - including the Casey demons twitter account and nada for both us and the Suns. Seems very strange. Any insight you could share @KC from Casey?

On the New Balance website the jumpers are referred to as 'unisex' so maybe there won't be an AFLW version?

Farewell Brodie Grundy
I am on DL on a lot, but often only engage in and/or read two or three threads at any one time. Which means that sometimes a thread such as this one pops up that has been dormant for a while and when i open it, I land on where i last read it, which is often yonks ago In this instance my last read post was immediately before the one quoted above (which was posted October last year). I hadn't read this post and just wanted to quote it because one it is a fantastic post (as is the very next one, also by godwindees) and two, everything i learned about Brodie since he has joined the dees says the post is spot on about him. Yet one more big tick for the club - what a brilliant pick-up Brodie has been.

Death Riding Fremantle 2023 - Feathered Cap Edition
A big advantage the hawks have in this game is they are under little pressure. So can play freely. Freo players and coaching staff on the other hand are under massive pressure. Imagine if the lose this? Docker fans will lose their collective minds. And as you say their game plan is all over the shop and the players look confused. I think they will win still, but all those factors mean a loss won't surprise.

Goal kicking accuracy 2023
I listened to that live. It had a kicker – Horne queried whether that level of accuracy is sustainable over a very long season and into finals. And wondered whether it might, paraphrasing, cover some sins, so to speak. Cornes loved that, and was quick to say that’s one for the watch list.

POSTGAME: Rd 07 vs North Melbourne
100% agree with all of above. Reallt important player for us during that period. And beyond too really because clubs need heart and soul players when things are tough. They help the stages of development connect. Maxy and Jack in particular really had a long period of being in rubbish teams. Steve may too given how poor the suns were Not much chance of those boys easing up.

All fair points. But, really in footy now there is rarely any clear leading lanes. And except when the game really opens up or an opponent gets a super quick transition, all forward areas are usually crowded meaning lots of big packs and few one on ones. The cats are a little bit of an outlier in this regard because they really work hard to create as many one on ones for Hawkins as possible- for example by Cameron playing as a high hallf forward. But still their forward zone is usually crowded

Thye might send him back to Casy at some stage to give him anfew matches where is he involved more (eg run him as the back up ruck, use him in the Tmac role etc)

I agree with this as it relates to JVR (not sure who the other player you are referring to is). Against both the tigers and the roos he went for long periods without very few marks, kick or handbal. As we know, he was just about to be subbed off against the tigers before going nuts because he had barely touched the pill. Sure, he competes hard inside 50 and creates great contests. But if he is not getting up the ground, he will not directly impact the game for big chunks of time (ie maybe the ball is inside our 50 something like 25% of the total match time?). A bit like Kossie in his first season, we have to accept that ATM if he is playing ones.

Would it be safe then for Andy to ask: 'So, Steve you set very high standards for yourself. How tough then has it been to play so poorly this season? And a related question Steve, what is happening with your ground ball gets? Seems like once the ball hits the ground you are a liability'

And i don't think he is fit enough yet to do the sort of up and down the ground donkey work Petty (or if in the team, Tmac) does when playing forward. And hasn't been doing it. I'm guessing Goody would prefer he say closer to goal and remain as 'fresh' as possible to maximise his impact.
