can someone upload it? -
I agree with someone else's suggestion in another thread that if he's not going to be dropped (due to severe lack of replacements with the loss of Tappy) then he should be the substitute. Might send enough of message and give him a shot at redemption. However, I think he should be dropped regardless. Yesterday reminded me a little of the 2006 elimination final where Davey gave away a couple of frees and a fifty meter penalty that resulted in a goal. He was dragged (rightfully) and given a serve bu Daniher. Yet that time he managed to redeem himself somewhat with a classic Davey effort on the boundary line that ended up in a goal and contributed some spark helping us to run over the Saints in the last (note a game we should always have won). But yesterday a much more senior and experience Davey gave us nothing and didn't even want to be out there.

Watts starting to show good signs
Deetective Sgt. Taggert replied to demons27's topic in Melbourne Demons
Agree. Was great to see him use his speed a bit more when moving through the midfield rather than appearing to lumber. While I would much prefer to see him make a bigger impact in the forward line I'm content for him to gain some experience around the ground and in defence to build his overall game. Also agree he showed far more leadership at times that some senior players which was great to see. I think he could be a smokie for captain one day if he becomes a a-grade CHF/FF but would prefer to see a midfielder get the nod (trenners, Scully or the like) -
MFC need to take a look at Richmond
Deetective Sgt. Taggert replied to lucifer's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think you make a good point here. Injuries have cruelled us, and this is not so much as losing key players (which we have) but having so many changes each week would make it difficult for most sides to build consistency in their performances because you have different guys coming in each week and having to keep adapting. I thought the guys put in a much more spirit this week for most of the game and it was the poor effort from Davey and a few others that killed our chances of winning that game. I don't doubt that Frawley, Moloney, Jones and others are trying to instill a better culture at the club and I think that some of the younger guys are showing more of this too. -
Also agree. Which is what made Davey's pathetic effort all the more heart breaking

Yeah I loved this moment, as well as in the third with his bump on the saints players over the boundary line. We were close to getting in front in the third but just lacked the class or poise to put the score on the board - which is understandable given our injuries. I thought they at least had a crack today. Maric - kicked a couple of good set shots that kept us in touch while other more experienced players missed their opportunities

my 3 word player analysis V The party boys
Deetective Sgt. Taggert replied to joeboy's topic in Melbourne Demons
For real? Where did you hear this? -
To give away that 50m penalty in the last was just the end for me. Totally knifed his teammates just when they desperately needed him to stand up and assert himself on the game. Imagine how different our season could be looking if he had managed to pull us over the line today with a gutsy performance in the last quarter indigenous round and all? Instead all we are left with now would seem to be to continue blooding youngsters

Posted this in another thread: Unless Davey shows something during the rest of the year I agree we should at least consider trading him. It could be a win-win situation if we can secure either a very high draft pick or a promising youngster from a club that is close to a premiership and has a stronger midfielder where Davey is not the first to be tagged. I would rather see a young guy get a chance after today's performance
-
I know he can't handle a tag thats why i'm suggesting that he could be far better in a side that can provide some protection and have other dangerous midfielders who will also need to be tagged thus placing less pressure and attention on Davey

I agree. Would much rather have seen Howe out there stuffing things up than Bate or Newton. At least he would have had the 'its my first day' excuse to fall back on
-
Was the most disgraceful performance I've ever seen from a vice-captain. Really killed it for the rest of the boys who for the most part had a real crack but lacked the poise and skill to finish of the good work in the third quarter that could have seen us in front heading into the last
-
Adds a bit more intrigue to this game. My guess is Howe replacing Dunn but Blease could be brought in to add pace to cut up the Saints

Nice article from the man himself! http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/7415/newsid/114190/default.aspx Appears he knows exactly what is required from him to get back into the 1s. Best of luck to him. -
If there is any chance of us beating St Kilda at Etihard it is now. If it weren't fopr our injuries I would back us in, but now will be a big effort
-
With Watson likely to be out (or at least underdone) for the Essendon game and with them coming off the bye we could be half a chance against the Dons...Back to back friday night games might also bring out some passions and effort you would hope
-
I also prefered Frawley's more honest assessment than Davey's fluff piece. Rather he said nothing but I realise they have media commitments

I posed a question in another thread whether or not front-loading contracts acted as a disincentive to perform. Because they get paid more in the first year but less in the following years just as you would expect their peformance to be improving.

Brereton, Dunstall target MFC culture
Deetective Sgt. Taggert replied to Striker475's topic in Melbourne Demons
Does anyone else ever wonder if the front-loading of contracts acts as a disincentive to perform? I mean the players end up with the same amount over the contract period and players are just motivated by financial reward but its seems like a reverse reward system... -
Love this Idea!
