First - the point of the thread is to point out what a great article was written. It is to clearly point out the beginning of the Stynes/McClardy relationship, how it has built over the years, their mutual respect for each other, and to show the Melbourne faithful that we are in very good hands. Second - since when is it the role of a board of directors to eradicate the type of performance we had last week and against West Coast? Sure, they appoint the coaching staff etc, but that is nowhere near their role, and it shouldn't be. I would much prefer my board, who as members we elect, to be putting their efforts into making our club equal to or exceed the financial powerhouses of the competition, making us a viable going concern, providing us with the MONEY and RESOURCES to build a football team which has everything at their disposal that they can realistically need and want. With these resources, the football department can then work to weed out mediocre performance. But then again, who would have thought a young team would be inconsistent? Third - Since when have we ever been in a position where we are expected to win? We do not have that luxury, and never should. Once that attitude comes in, from supporters, and from players, we are going to struggle. You do not go to any game of football expecting to win. Hey, maybe your expectation has led to those type of performances you mention above. No team should ever expect to win, and neither should its supporters. It only leads to complacency. We cannot and never have been afforded that luxury.
