  2. Bail was working on his break away speed today alone with the trainers. He was jogging to a cone then sprinting (maybe 20m?) and was timed. All around the 4.0-4.4 mark. He then went to run laps. Must have been running for the better part of 2 hours. They could be working on his endurance. Just before 9 Gawn, Spencer, JV, Toumpas, Tom Mc, Nicho and Jordie were running laps. JV was with Nicho and Tom M infront of the others. JV, Nicho and Tom Mc then were kicking 30(?)m passes. Imagine a wire from JVs foot to Nichos chest. Nicho'and Tom Mc kicking looks a lot better but 2 grades below JV. After Spencer and Gawn did ruck work with Toumpas and Jordie below. JV and Nicho joined them later. I'm worried cause JV was the stand out by a mile. Gawn did some good work and seemed to be moving without any issues. Jordie then had a 10 minute kick to kick with Toumpas. Looks like he is working really hard on it - he was concentrating a lot. The rest of the group then emerged for stretches and running. Some in close work followed which I had trouble distinguishing everyone from where I was standing. The match simulations I was a lot closer. There were a lot of full group drills today in 3 groups, mid, fwd and backs. The backs had the better of the other 2 groups. Standouts today were Dunn (hard for me to say that), Jones, Tommy Mc, Nicho, Terlich. I was impressed by Barry's intent, Kents left foot (he looks a little lost in the match sims but he doesn't look like a first year player). Dawes contested marks, Fitzy staying back to work on his kicking for goal, Howes intent, Watts voice, Bleases second efforts, Nicho playing link up, Couchs accumulation.
  3. Just giving you the list of our boys who can be nominated. From memory this is way more than last year. Rising Star Possibilities: Troy Davis Michael Evans Rory Taggert Josh Tynan Jimmy Toumpas Dean Kent Dom Barry Jack Viney Nathan Stark
  4. As a kid, Jack Viney won World Series poker, with his Pokemon cards.
  5. Yes he is. But Hoskin-Elliot kicked 5 as well today... Also after watching the Robbo show, Blease's interview and Neeld's presser - I have a strong feeling that Blease loves the club, Neeld and they love him back.
  6. So you didn't want an answer to your question? You just wanted to [censored] about Gys?
  7. Leigh Brown said that Fitz and Cook aren't ready for AFL yet due to not being able to run out an entire game (injured during the year etc). Yes no forward line sucks but this year was a write off since round one so there is no point putting the lambs to slaughter for the sake of getting games into them. Maybe against GWS and Gold Coast.
  8. I went down to the championships, watched a lot of youtube and talked to a lot of vfl recruiters (I don't know any afl ones). Viney is top 5 in this draft in most people's opinion. He's not Whitfield, he's not Grundy and he's not Tompass. But he is better than Wines, O'Rourke, Mayes etc. Stringer is the only other one I'd have in my top 5.
  9. There have been some really good points for and against on this thread. With Cloke I think it solves a lot of problems straight away. It's a lot of money but it's front loaded and it locks him away until he is past his used by date. Yes he is out of form but in the wise words of Mark Fine "form is temporary, class is permanent".
  10. Caddy is worth the 12. Although we could get Keneddy/Vlastin/Boak with that pick Caddy has a few more games under his belt and 2 pre-seasons. Ready to grow with our boys
  11. 6. Martin 5. Grimes 4. Sylvia 3. McDonald 2. Trengove 1. McKenzie
  12. On MMM earlier today they were talking about Misson working us to the bone during the pre-season because we were behind where we should have been. This is obviously going to have flow on effects to the season because we were killed in the pre-season training. I'm a Blease lover but I would really like more than 8 disposals from him. We would have won if we had Jamar and Bennell not injured. That's pretty good against a side pushing for finals. Disappointing end but that is the way it goes.
  13. Debuts seem to be different. This isnt the first time a club has said xxx to debut. Gibson was the last one from memory. Maybe we can do it for first gamers?
  14. What will happen is that they should get the same as we got for Scully i.e. First rounder after their pick and a mid first round which can be activated in this draft. So say pick 14 and pick 20-odd. If they trade them they are still attached to Collingwood - i.e. IF GWS was to use it next year it would be based on Collingwood's position on the ladder - not GWS. So really they will have another 2 mid-late first round picks to work with and no key forward. Bye bye Collingwood dynasty =)
  15. It's early give him a break. I am also pro this decision. We are set up for free agency and we need to hit our salary cap some how in 2013 and this is a great way to do it (frontloading). He's tied to the club during what should be the peak of his career then we start paying our by then all-star midfield (I can dream cant I) the big bucks without having to worry about a key forwards contract. Also wasnt Cloke leading the comp sometime last year or early this year for inside 50's? "Last year, Cloke kicked a personal-best 69 goals in 25 games, as well as leading his club's inside-50s with 127 entries."
  16. Banfield out injured - should be back any week now listed as a test this week
  17. I'm not opposed to the idea... GEELONG ruckman Trent West's contract talks are at an impasse, with his manager yesterday revealing interest from rival clubs. - 5th June 2012 GEELONG has taken another significant step towards ensuring its premiership window remains open by locking away Tom Hawkins. West's manager Anthony McConville and Geelong have discussed a new deal for the premiership ruckman but remain at odds over the size of a new deal. McConville said West, 24, wanted to stay, but conceded there was interest in the out-of-contract big man. On Sunday, Greater Western Sydney coach Kevin Sheedy declared the Giants' priority was finding another ruckman. It is known that there is a considerable gap between the offer the Cats have tabled for West and what would keep the 198cm ruckman at Geelong. GWS has contacted the management of several ruckmen, and St Kilda and Collingwood are also short of ruck stocks. In April, Geelong football manager Neil Balme took the extraordinary step of asking GWS if the Giants had approached West. They told Balme they had not, but McConville said West was definitely in demand. "There is an amount of rival interest in Trent, being the player he is as a modern-day ruckman," McConville said. "The question will be what his value is at Geelong going forward. That's what we need to work out. "Trent is pretty keen to focus on his footy for the remainder of the year. But if Geelong are wanting to bring forward discussions, we would be happy to talk to Neil (Balme) and the club." McConville would not confirm GWS interest. West has struggled at times this year after making an impact from Round 17 in 2011, with Geelong believing the demands of playing first ruck have tired him.
  18. 6 - Sylvia - last couple of weeks are looking good 5 - Martin - Looks like he can get back to the form of '11 if he's in the team for a while 4 - MacDonald - usually I don't like him, good aggression today. 3 - Blease - Needs to get much more of the ball though 2 - Watts - good comeback after a bad first quarter. 1 - Nicho - some good things
  19. Wow can we have any less luck?
  20. Really interesting game - we really lack forwards who want to kick goals but the forward pressure is quite good.
  21. Tom McD in hospital that is all they know
  22. Yeah Watts shouldn't play on Brown....
  23. Blease loves the running goal
  24. Jones, Jamar, Clark, McDonald.....
  25. Pretty sure he's playing in the 2's not development this week.
