I agree with your assessment SS, Strauss just didn't get hold of the footy often enough from the get go and when he did lacked the urgency required. Sam always looked likely but didn't deliver, other than a few early games, despite many chances. Hope they find a spot somewhere, doubt it will be in the AFL though.

We have a hell of a lot of interstate supporters who are not necessarily members as witnessed by the post game turn outs when we have done well in games at the Gabba, Once we begin to win consistently you will see a surprising lift in support as was shown in the late eighties after a lengthy period in the wilderness.

Fingers crossed we get it right, the good Lord knows we've had enough chances in the past decade.
