6 Viney 5 Langdon 4 Gawn 3 Turner 2 Salem 1 JVR - I’ll tell you why, his rucking showed me he’s a competitive beast. Fox footy talked about how he was leveled by Witts, what they didn’t acknowledge is 10 seconds after he was taken out by a Witts knee, he smashed Witt’s to the ground in a tackle. That was the story, not the knee, ,morons missed it. He gave it straight back to Witts at every contest.

Stat given on OTC said Melbourne has won more games than any other team over the last 4 years bar Brisbane, who are sans flag though.

Melbourne win/loss margins Geel 3 BL 26 NM 37 Haw 67 Rich 46 Ess 36 StK 39 GCS 69 Carl 109 Adel 91 WB 49 Coll 42 X PA 10 StK 2 Frem 54 WB 50 Geel 2 Adel 13 GCS 96 Syd 9 WCE 17 GWS 45 2018 rocked for scoring, Goodwin was crushing it with the team running off the back of the square. 2299 points for the year, 105 per game. The rules changed on him, you'd be a nuphy to forget we were a hard contested high scoring team.

Club in crisis - Media pile on - August 2024
DEE fence replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
Honestly the Front Bar has better takes each week. -
@Jaded No More I worked it out DeeSpencer = Tom Morris But in seriousness, and something that I don't think gets enough recognition. Gawn went and sacrificed his role as Ruck to try and make the Grundy option work out. This is an All Australian, All Time Melbourne great, willing to share his lauded role to make the team better. Remember the GF when Jackson was running hot. Personification of team orientated and selfless, leads by example in clutch moments all the time, not just when it is easy.

I'm a romantic, but No, he leaves with massive thanks and respect and I think he's a stellar human, and would love for him to have a role with MFC going forward, BUT I REALLY WANT TO BEAT THE FILTH, with exactly the best team we can put on the park.

If Morris, or lets say a Wilson, Purple, whoever get the facts right, I have no issue with the reporting. But when there is joyful glee at delivering the bad news with added editorial comment presented as fact I have a serious problem. Tall poppy syndrome is a thing, and there are media darlings and those sent straight to the stockades. Morris ‘slants’ what he says every time, I don’t respect this from someone who has never played the game or put himself out there in trying to do something. He is a critic not a creator and he should show more respect for those he slams publicly. A set of straight teeth and a firm opinion of oneself doesn’t mean merde in terms of credibility.

Don't know, his best is epic, by the by Deemonstrative has the best idea so far. If he passed an exhaustive medical and the desire was real and not looking for a pension maybe. He can be the trouble shooter that Brayshaw was, who was never quick but had positional awareness. Is an elite problem solver.

Actually think this is a good idea to quieten some of the chicken littles. I'm backing Oliver and Petracca to play at Melbourne next year, I'll even give odds if anyones wants to back against it. Reminds me of the Melks/May shenanigans, lots were fearing the worst, but clearly the club and players moved past it.

So heart broken by this. I first met ANB more than 10ish years ago and thought he was a fine young man, he's only got better. And for me he was one of the reasons I have never paid attention to the culture critics, because we do have good people at the club like him. While I believe this is not an example of the clubs' 'direction', he is certainly part of the fabric of the club that made it strong again. Easy to get another role player, not so easy to find a phenomenal standard setter. For me he was the new Daniel Cross and went on to surpass Crossy. I think we will feel this the way we felt the loss of Brayshaw.

Tom Morris you lurking troll, you are a proper Cee U Next Tuesday. If he is a member, then I'd pay for the club to cancel his membership. I always thought chicken little was a fairy tale, I see now it's a parable. Club is not going anywhere, Tracc is not going anywhere, but change is coming, hot tip, won't be the coach either. Tall poppy syndrome is alive and well. 2021 we were it, media been trying to cut us down ever since and too many peahearts believe every bad thing said.

Thank you, where have you been? Healthy debate, posting alternative opinions without being insulting to the coach and the team. Some stuff I agree with, some not, some ideas with a different perspective. Really some others could take a clue from your etiquette. BTW for those that reckon I or those like me are clueless fan people who love the coach no matter what, you are being insulting and you lack basic comprehension skills. I am always looking for evidence, in everything that has happened I see a coach that has tried stuff, some stuff works some doesn’t. Obviously things aren’t perfect and some things need to change, but on the evidence available I think Goodwin has the ability and the credits to drive that change and improvement. Ipso facto he is the man.

I rate what you have to say from your little chats with the players, way more than any clown in the media. Thank you.

Just the title on the other thread makes me nauseous. Goodwin has delivered a period of sustained success. No real evidence of disharmony at the club. His career tracks alot like Luke Beveridge, sustained criticism from a 30/20 hindsight POV. No appreciation for the fine margins and luck involved by those calling for his head. Anyone would think he is Neeld 2.0 Has done an amazing job of blooding new talent. Has made the occasional blue with selection, and perhaps could have been more ruthless regenerating the side after '21., but hard not to support the list that delivered a flag. His method has been consistently good, if the team had executed better we would have played in the last two prelims. They don't hand out top 4 spots in a packet of corn flakes. And I'm sorry that 17 other clubs don't lay down and give up their generational talent. Be real, the Max replacement is never going to be satisfying, deal with it.

The Levi sisters are a playstation cheat code, butchering the Irish, will need a mercy rule.

Mollie and Arnie 1,2, huge performance from both, so calm under pressure, would make good fwds for our AFLW team.

Only good thing about being in Somalia (apart from getting paid) is the time zone is very Olympics friendly. Loving the Women’s 7s thought the men were pretty special too, so ripped off with that French Ref, not a knock on and definitely a fwd pass by the boks. Hockey I feel like not being favorites suits us, we always cooked it when we were red hot faves.

Running back with the flight of the ball, so bloody brave. Never ever will I move on, if Maynard had owned it and apologized then maybe, but the victim blaming and BS about what he could have done, was next level garbage.

Lady Luck is a cruel mistress too. Re whether Bevo is loved or not, feels like he had a few scallywags to deal with, whereas Melbourne's better players seem like strong culture setters. Out of interest who are your examples? Barassi/Mathews? I loathed Malthouse but people who were inside said he was the Horse whisperer at Collingwood when it came to dealing with players. I still feel like he was part of a Collingwood plot to make Carlton bad. Tommy Hafey didn't get the Pies over the line but jeez they were up for a long time, he wasn't popular in the club with players.

Oliver Viney ANB - why no love? Langdon May Rivers - went missing after a blistering 1st qtr. Apologies - McVee

Beveridge must be sitting back laughing at all the arm chair critics, he's had a plan and stuck to it despite an unbelievable amount of noise. Feels like Goodwin's career parallels his, wins a flag, receives constant sniping despite being the Dog's most successful coach just like Goodwin has been since Smith. Kudos to him, he dropped the blokes who didn't want to stick with the plan, has come up with a solid defense and now they look ace. Lobb and Jones are looking like Lever and May. If we don't win am more than happy for the Dogs to win and stick it up every media critic who have had Bevo in their sights. Carlton are defensive phonies. Freo and Brisbane look dangerous, Swans have got speed wobbles but not jumping off them. Not sure what when wrong with North, don't respect Stewart at your peril.

Imagine a world where Carlton Collingwood and Essendon are out of the 8, make the dream real, just a pity the Cats are on their 13th bloody life.
