  1. 6, Rivers, a weapon off the HB line, great news as Salem's radar still not working as one would hope. 5, Lever 13 Marks, in great touch, and in a sign of how well our backline is functioning he was able to provide fwd. 50 defensive pressure, because they are such a unit. 4, Viney, the guy is Steve Austin, plays as if he has a stunt double doing the work, but no it is him every time doing the work. 3, Melksham, took Sicily out of the game who has been having a great run. Can forgive 4 straight misses ('cos we won). 2, ANB, 150 games busting a gut for the Red and Blue. 1, Brayshaw, team player par excellence Sorry to May/Langdon/JVR (nearly gave May a vote for his 4th qtr mark, love that he is moving well, always scared about those hammies.
  2. Grundy is a Melbourne player deserving of our support. On what do you base this? Last I checked his attitude has been stirling throughout. Typical Collingwood player??? pot the nuphy supporters all you like but there are several Collingwood players who have shown class across the journey not all JDG's.
  3. It's the grandkids that matter, make sure she has them while we are still good, who cares if you feel old as a consequence, it's all about the bloodlines.
  4. Good to see Tmac standing on the boundary with the President, turning up for the team.
  5. I was nervous, don't mind saying, but that says more about me than this team, they don't stop working. Massive love for all of them.
  6. You think Albo is going to be PM longer than Menzies?
  7. Geez Hogan would be useful right now for the Dees, and 4 months later still burning about our loss to the bummers.
  8. Bloody hell Collingwood, letting Brisbane get %. Collingwood has done well with its outs, class team, but they are looking damaged now. Elliot won't play next week. Hasn't Ginnivan improved.
  9. Very frustrated very very frustrated, so many what ifs, and now I'm cheering for Collingwood of all things. Do you reckon Collingwood would rather meet us in a QF a GF or a Prelim? Or no difference? Personally I'm happy with the win anywhere mentality and would trade final four ladder position for a settled forward line.
  10. Bloody hell, on a field mission, unable to watch, come back to this sour news. I feel like I’m the kiss of death when I get positive about anything.
  11. I wonder, he is as strong as any CHB going around, while he might not be able to out mark everyone he would at least halve contests and bring ball to ground. Leave some space for Oliver in the middle. Am not totally against it. Who would you play as FF? Smith? I almost would prefer this set up as we would have great fwd half defensive pressure. He would be in the head of every defender, he has a reputation and draws defenders like flys. Mad time to try it 2 weeks before finals though.
  12. The current campaign deserves it's own thread. And I'm leading off with Mackenzie Arnold, who is the Australian equivalent of Stephen Curry for ice water in the veins. I still can't get my mind around the pressure of keeping a penalty decider in Australia's biggest match to date, missing a penalty to win Australia's biggest match and then going back to keeping and saving against the same player twice. Absolutely legendary performance. This is not just me being caught up in the emotion of the game either but I actually find the Women's game more fun to watch, there is less cheating, that usually drives me insane, and as per @Nascent makes me half hearted about football. Where as I've really enjoyed these WC games. Also this is where I see the AFLW going in terms of skill and fitness, these women were running over 30km/h which is not shabby at all. AFLW will get better too. Flag seen flying in Somalia 😉, picture forward to Head of UN here (who is French 😜)
  13. Brayshaw Viney Rivers May Lever Oliver
  14. That's a fair question, against our best, I'd have to agree overall 6.5. but that's everything. I thought it was skills that let us down not effort, and I hate it more when we don't have effort. For me the worst game this season was the Bombers loss, because I thought effort was poor. That said, we've only been beaten when teams are playing their very best.
  15. yeah Carlton won, haven't disputed that, not making an excuse but is fair to say they won by a margin so narrow I am not cutting my wrist, personally I think since 2018 we have swapped some manic pressure for touch, and have lost a fraction of our ability to play wet weather football. I thought we were in trouble with the conditions, if that was a dry game I reckon it might have gone a little differently. I look at reasons whey we lost, not the same as excuses, but I didn't see a team that was overwhelmed with pressure, I saw some execution that was off by players who normally do better. And for the record, I think Grundy in the wet was a mistake, after initially being happy for him to be in the side.
  16. Demur, we couldn't execute goal kicking, slightly different, I thought our pressure and composure during some dodgy tactics and non calls was very high.
  17. Carlton can carry on all they like, they played hard and worked their butt's off, and won by the width of a Bee's phallus, truth is they were lucky and we didn't have an even performance. We were so close, it hurts, has ruined my week etc, but when I watch the contested effort to get back from 3 goals down in the fourth I am amazed by how hard the players were. Brayshaw, Rivers, Viney, were stone cold killers at the contest and were the reason why we had a chance to win, just the execution was off with goal kicking. But that contested game will win 9/10 games of football. We are winning the flag with that pressure and two more games to get fwd 50 right.
  18. Win lose or draw, everyone should be bloody proud of the way they are cracking in. Bodies on line everywhere.
  19. My money is on the Hawks, they were ridiculously good against the pies. I don’t like Mitchell at all but reckon he’s a hell of a coach.
  20. Both sides have scored 2+ goals from bad decisions. Was really hoping Maynard would get done for dissent, Field umpire knew they'd stuffed it up. Fair play to Collingwood though, injuries and they didn't drop their heads, got to work.
  21. If I get the OP right, you must dislike the player (not just the club), so while I would love a Curnow, I don't hate him. I used to dislike/almost hate Toby (and think alot of his rehabilitation is for media consumption only) so like others Toby. But of the other players I hate, none that I think would make us better going forward, Tex having this season at the Demons would have been good, but can't see that happening in 2024. Hawkins is done, would have fitted the bill a few years ago. Rance would have been a big winner when he was travelling well, loathed the guy, favorite moment was Viney putting him on his ar$e and Dawes' elbow.
  22. Happy with the team, coaches have shown selection nous all year, if they are trying Grundy, it's not out of bloody mindedness. I really feel for Grundy the media drivel around him has been verging on vicious, totally undeserved. The bruisefree jibe about us always annoyed me, I felt like we've always made Carlton pay for it ever since. I can see either a close win or a blow out, have fond memories of 2018 seeing Lever play and torching the Blues by a 100 points, feeling in my bones like we are going to be on pressure style like the KB game, hopefully with better kicking for goal. Watch all the mouth breathing journos jump on the band wagon if we win, and the stories will switch to something unfair favoring Melbourne. I really hope they play the game on the big screen for no other reason than it feels like a Cathy Freeman moment, will be watching here In Somalia. (Allthough I was policing Carlton the night Italy cheated against Australia in a World Cup game, and got rivers of abuse about Australia losing from the Carlton crowd, who were very Pro Italy, not sure how much they love the Matildas). I mean this in a jocular way and not too seriously, but did you ever consider by drafting Grundy we don't have to play against him? So while we might not be getting full advantage of his skills because he replicates what Max brings, He has more than held his own over the years against Max. But imagine Grundy at Port or Brisbane (i reckon he's better than Oscar), for one of the sides we are competing against. Would go a way towards nullifying one of our weapons. This might have been said elsewhere but haven't read everything. He is an expensive insurance policy but I see it working in more than one way Lastly +1, love the idea of the Melbourne Football club having a soccer team, I see synergies, always thought with our name we could be a much larger sporting organization (Aussie Rules always has primacy though).
  23. I regret clicking on the Footy Classified link.
  24. I cruised the BF Blues board, annoyingly reasonable compared to most clubs, interesting discussion about balancing mid field speed with grunt, and acknowledgment that we have a fair list. We are their biggest bogey side btw 8 wins in a row. Also for those who are not filled in on Herbatron, I'll just leave this here, guy makes a really solid effort, (incl a clip of ANB sidestepping two Essendon players who collide (-;) I reckon he should make some clips for the front bar show, would suit perfectly .
