  1. Hmmm i always hate injuries. Some can ruin a young guys life. What eould be great is an old school essendon hawthorn all in brawl where they all get rubbed out for 3 weeks. Off topic a little bit. it has been interesting seeing that hawks are a contender for the signature of lynch and roughhead not being signed on for next year, although it seems he wants to continue. Considering all these hawks made sacrifices for the team, the team has not. Even if lynch goes elsewhere and roughhead is offered a contract, surely thats got to take a hit to their "culture". Can only hope it splits the playing group from management and they go into decades of mediocrity known as the Clarkson curse.
  2. Would an ess haw draw be the best outcome? Im hoping for that.
  3. Wow Brisbane surprise me a bit here, they were strong from 2000 to 2005, dropped out of finals, then pushed back in under crazy vossy didnt they? Shows how poor they have been every other year.
  4. Everyone seems to focus on hunts form before his injury, i have no inside knowledge but would put money on that he was trying to play through something. His speed and agility were severely hampered. I think there is more than one role in the team hunt can play, his kicking out of the back line can sometimes hurt but when we were in trouble last year he was often thrown forward and provided a spark as well as forward pressure. His speed allows him to close space in our press and close down 60/40 passes.
  5. I like bugg. Gets where the ball is. Competes above his height in marking contests and i believe could finish the goals off, he does it at vfl. My problem with him is how terrible his handball is. I thought AVB was a terrible handballer but he improved a little over time, i think his disposal may have been related to fatigue. But bugg cant hit a handball target from 2m.
  6. Ratten did well with our midfield a number of years ago. Not sure he's had anything to do with a backline if your looking at removing Chaplin. Yze has worked his way up under Clarkson from part time goal kicking coach to defensive coach. Another option would be to poach Matthew Scarlett. Or perhaps myself.
  7. Gives petracca a chance to step up and be that creative link. Then you would pick from avb, bugg, kent and i believe hannan is over his knee.
  8. The better teams are often the ones with better structures and ability to stick a plan. If we could deliver it better into the forward line our forwards wouldnt be standing under it getting smashed by 2, 3 or even 4 defenders (geelong games)
  9. Tommy bugg has been consistently in the best, surprisingly he can kick a set shot in vfl. Vanders has come back strong and kent is working his way back into form, although he always seem to step up in the ones. It will hurt if its melksham because none of those players can create opportunities for others like he can. If its spargo or garlett it would have to be bugg for his tackling avb a chance if its petracca straight swap for avb.
  10. J Smith has wagner covered for speed which is vital with our high press. Frost and smith help a lot pushing back with pace. When hibberd returns i wouldn't be surprised to see vince pushed out again. I believe lever struggled in his first few games until he got his positioning better and able to cover back.
  11. Smith has a future. Because he gets there. What is it 9 games in? Preferably lever and hibberd would be in with him filling a less important role. No pressure coming into defense hurts all defenders. Cant see us winning this, crows midfield all over us.
  12. Adelaide have a bit of payback in mind. They'll come out hard. We just need to be in front when the final siren goes.... oh wait
  13. Slept on it. Still gutted. I [censored] hate geelong. We lost it in the last but that dangerfield ruck free needs to be highlighted by the media. It was a cheap tactic which is a joke. Dangerfield should be smashed by the media and put down.
  14. A non ruckman nominates and his nickname is used. Why dont umpires call gawn and dangerfield. You also have to be at the contest to be involved in it. Otherwise gawn could be standing there and oliver nominates from 15 meters awsy. Any player that is in his path would be paid against. Joke.
  15. What about targeting Matthew Scarlett. Defence coach at geelong and would be a wealth of knowledge for our young backs. Or maybe Adam Yze, learning under clarkson and i remember him working from a specialist goal kicking coach to being the backline coach around 2016 and always thought he might return home.
  16. That free to martin against armitage was horrible. I hope one of our guys become untouchable like the martins dangerfields and abletts have been.
  17. Melbournes Multiple premiership player, Neville Jetta. I like it.
  18. Just stated on 7 news hibberd would be looking for a return during finals.
  19. So rather than playing him inside you would rather him on the wing again? What I'm trying to get at is if we play him in his best position he has more of a chance of being a positive for the team. If played at the coal face it means oliver brayshaw and petracca when in there can play a more attacking game. It also saves moving say a salem into more midfield minutes as he has found a nice bit of form in his current role. I think most teams would love to have tyson come in if they lost an inside midfielder through injury. If tyson is played in his best position and plays poorly, I will change my perspective on this matter. I just think hes been played out of position and is not good enough in any other role. When viney comes back i cant see tyson getting a game. If we play him and he does well, he can either back himself in to regain his spot next year or he increases his trade value, which at the moment is lower than his worth to the team.
  20. Geelong have conceded i think the second least points scored against. Fast movement into the forward line is a must or their defence will just pick off intercept marks all night. Henderson is a big in for them. Hopefully it takes a bit for the cohesion to return.
  21. I hope he's played inside, with gawn's advantage in the ruck i can see geelong setting up to limit oliver and brayshaw hitting contests with speed to allow the clear break away. Tyson will be important to fire out quick hands and free oliver up to still try the more attacking role he's been playing the last couple of weeks.
  22. I would go anb, jkh, smith, vince, spargo and the last one i would have said harmes earlier in the year but he's become more consistent. Lewis still impacts so maybe garlett.
  23. If geelong are successful in roving to gawn and not allowing brayshaw and oliver win clean fast clearances i can see tyson being important playing the inside role that will still free brayshaw and oliver up to try and break away from congestion.
  24. The best part of the melksham trade was i was unhappy paying pick 25. But if memory serves i think josh dunkly went that pick to the bulldogs and no player after that i would swap for melksham. We got that right in hindsight.
  25. Same reason hawks play in tassy.
