I can only imagine what it will feel like this time next week DC As strange as it sounds there were times yesterday when I would have happily gone back to the DB game plan.

Well the first tragedy of 2012 is now almost 24 hours ago And there has been an explosion on new threads so I thought I would put my thoughts on this one. Not sure if it fits but here goes. I ask myself what has changed in the last 48 years? For the majority of that time not a lot. Here we are after game 1 of 2012 with a bad loss to a bottom four side from last year. A list of average players at best. A new coaching panel ( how many of those have there been over that 48 year period ) A game plan that I have no idea how it is meant to work, I doubt the players do either. A depresseing year awaits me. With the prospect of another rebuild. "Hang in there fellers we will get there" is again the cry. So as I said not a lot has changed. But there is one big change for me. I AM ALMOST WORN OUT BY THE MFC I have had it with the 40 medicore years of the last 48. I no longer want to wander off to the G with hope in my heart and then wander home with the same sick in the guts feeling that once again I am supporting a team of modest performers who tear my guts out. Once again I will be the butt of jokes from other club supporters. What has faithful support for 48 years got me! 8 years of joy and 40 years of misery. I have a solution to save my sanity. I have put away my new maroon and blue scarf, I have placed my members card at the back of the draw. I have taken the stickers off my car. I will return to the MCG when the MFC shows they deserve my support. Until then ( if I live long enough ) I will be an anonymous citzen in the fabric of Melbourne. Away from the scorn of the general football world. no more "carn the dees" Put up MFC and I will show up

Business as usual for the Blues 7 goal winners over the Tigers. The more things change the more they stay the same
  6. This is getting way off the thread DC but if you raised this subject with my father he would go right off. His experienced was that the vast majority of bad people he met in the army where bad soldiers The first to go Awol, last out the trench and almost always let you down and put your life at risk. It did not improve them as people. I can hear him right now. " why inflict these idoits on good soldiers and put there lives at risk, the spot for them is Jail"

My guess on those options is 25 a winning margin of 5 points

What is a good crowd RL?
  9. I was not suggesting you was getting abused HT but you seems to be holding up one side of the discussion on your own. As you probably noticed I am pretty much flattened by the subject. I do not know what can be down, it depresses the crap out of me as the only thing that seems to change is the size of the problem. PS Is "Flattened" a word
  10. Gee I bet you are glad you raised this one HT! people are falling out of the sky on you. The footy starts in 2 days so something else to talk about.
  11. No you are probably right. I just struggle with the problem these days. To be honest I am worn out by the problem
  12. I think hardtack that Ben has had a very large amount of compassion over the last few years. I have a couple of people close to me who have suffered drug addiction. Their problem has been an on going thing for 10+ years there is no easy out for most people. One has been clean for 2 years now and the other has recently been released from Jail. He has stated "this will probably kill me in the next few years". Both of their lives have been ruined. They have made their parents lives and numerous others ( wife and children in one case ) lives a absolute misery. After 10 years I now struggle with compassion.
  13. Is anyone surprised!

Redleg I have been trying really hard not to say anything tonight because all the blind optimists on demonland will say I am delighting in our sambolic performance. This could not be further from the truth I am hurting as badly as any Dees supporter on this earth. My worst fears are unfolding before me. But i cannot help myself any longer. Mate you are watching a very poor team, we were crap in 2011 and all sorts of excuses were made, crap coach, poor game plan, problems between the FD and Manangement. The answer is and I keep saying it we have a poor group of players. End of story. At least now we will not go into 2012 with over stated expectations. But to answer your Question. For a very long time

Life is wonderful is it not Just noticed on the MFC website that a membership will get you into the game against Port for free. Gee we should all race over there to take advantage of that great offer. Not much money will be expended on that one!

Interesting article on SEN this morning. During the Eddy debarcle from sunday night discussion he raised the subject of Indigenous players and lower stamina levels. He said he would be doing a segment next sunday on Indigenous players and the extra effort required in maitiance especially when they are young. It was mainly about recruiting players to AFL clubs too young. There appears to be an idea to increase the age to 19. It was supported by KB and Patrick Smith who said a number of managers have raised the issue.

Kicking skill or the lack of it kept Richmond down for 20 years. How many games did they kick it to Richardson's feet or over his head or the left when he led right. Thanks for the reply Redleg I did read it on the other thread.

Hi Redleg I have not seen your thoughts or have I missed them? Did you see any improvement? I was struggling it had all the earmarks of Geelong last July. God what does that hold in 2012!

Is it just me or are other people also feeling absolutely flat following the events of the last 24 hours. I know he is only one player and he was not likely to play for some time but I feel like the one time the Dees get a player who is capable of being a champion and it is over before it really started. Tomorrows game at this point holds little interest for me. Did not feel this bad after that infamous day at Geelong.

No but I noticed you know who was not among the best players
